Interlude 1: Energy and Cultivation

Explanation of energy:

At some point a long time ago, the worlds were filled with many different energies that were all unique and could be Cultivated in their own ways. Then, in the world of Immortals, a coup against the leadership succeeded and to consolidate their power, the new gods, using their Celestial powers, banished all traces of any energy other than Dian, through which they could use Fate to control the mortals with.

Dian is also most commonly referred to as the energy of Order or Heavenly Energy. It flows in one direction and is synergetic with almost any Cultivator, should they wish to utilize it. Gathering Techniques are extremely straightforward and normally involve some form of meditation or peaceful reflection. The seeds of Fate have also been intertwined with the Dian entering the Mortal World and so, the gods indirectly can nudge certain things to their own benefit. Unlike in the Immortal World, where dissenters of the regime are dealt with extreme efficiency, the gods cannot enter the Mortal World and exact judgement without destroying its foundation due to their overwhelming power. Fate is their tool to indirectly control what occurs in this world.

Chi, on the other hand, is the energy of Chaos, of freedom. It rebels against control and has no shackles that can bind it. It is fickle and only synergizes with Cultivators it deems worthy of its power. Techniques cannot be passed down or learned from other Chi users. Instead, each Cultivator must create their own Techniques along every step of their path, which leads to a longer road to advancement, but also forces the Cultivator to embrace their own uniqueness, ultimately leading to more strength in the future. Chi is also the energy that the being known as Chaos utilizes, though his strength at this time is unknown. There is only one known user of this energy within the Mortal World, and because it is so hidden, its inability to be sensed by the Immortal World makes it the perfect energy to be used by someone who plans to change the worlds.
