Welcome to the Volume One Checkpoint! This is Stella Procella! ☆
Thank you so much for making it all the way here. This is the first volume of many, so I hope that you will stay around and give the next volumes a try. This being the first volume, I wanted to make sure to give you a glimpse of the mysteries surrounding Glint City.
I want to start by saying that I admit the pace of the first volume might be a little odd. If you feel overwhelmed by too many characters being introduced at once, it's okay. Don't worry with having to keep track of everyone and everything, several characters will have a more proper introduction, and better focus as the story continues to progress.
My goal with this first volume is that I wanted it to be a book that can be experienced in many different ways depending on how far you've progressed in the story. Even if some things are confusing right now, once you've gotten to know the characters better, and gotten to solve some of the mysteries in the City of Light, if you come back here, you may be able to see everything in a different light.
Speaking of the characters, I wanted this to be a story with two main protagonists, Faith and Wish. While this volume had their paths cross a lot, they may also go in completely different directions later on. Think of it like those games that let you choose between two protagonists, and let you experience different routes that then converge into a bigger story.
This novel is published on a different platform. Support the original author by finding the official source.
As a little fun fact, this story started as an attempt I made to start a manga back in 2010. It was a really silly, messy manga, but I wanted to believe in the potential of the story and all the characters that were part of that world. As a result, I scrapped the manga, re-structured everything from scratch, and Scarlet Finale! was now born.
That said, I did want the initial chapters to resemble that of the manga a little, so it was a bit of a challenge to integrate that into the new structure of the story without it feeling too out of place. You could say that in a lot of ways this was a really experimental volume, so I'm sure you'll notice the story has a much more solid structure and pacing moving forward.
Now let's talk about the story itself, the prologue paints a bizarre image of the end of the world. I'd like you to think of this prologue like the piece of a puzzle. Did this happen in the past, or is this a glimpse of the future? If you hold to this puzzle piece, you may be able to start building up a greater image as you collect more pieces.
The last thing I'd like to mention, is that Scarlet Finale! is actually not my main project. There is a much bigger writing project that I've worked on for years, but even though Scarlet Finale! started like an experimental side-project, I'm now planning to give it my full attention as well to put together a solid story you can enjoy. So I hope you will be looking forward to it!
I also hope you liked the character illustrations sometimes found at the end of a chapter. As more characters appear through the story, new illustrations for them will go up too!
Once again, thank you so much for your support and for reading Scarlet Finale! I hope that you enjoy your stay in Glint City.
If you had to start a new game, which protagonist would you choose? Which route would you like to experience? Faith's or Wish's?
