Kira toured through one of the many gardens of the mansion, exploring the beauty of the perennial flowers as a cold wind began to stir.
‘I won’t let It happen. I won’t let her train.’
Kira’s gray eyes dashed across the garden as she buried herself in thought.
“What’s up, Onee-san? Got something on your mind?”
Kira’s gaze slowly drifted towards the source of the voice. First, she noticed the hair - the same jet black hair as her own, only that it was longer. The young, purified face. The gray eyes with a reminiscent shade of blue.
“Oh, wow, you’re way more zoned out than I thought. Dreaming about a boy, huh?”
“Wha- Why don’t you just shut up and mind your own business. And stop sneaking up on me. That’s getting old.”
Yaku placed her hands behind her back and tilted her head to the side.
“You don’t like seeing me? Some sister you are. Anyways, I’ve gotta tell you something.”
A gleam of worry crept up within Kira’s eyes as she thought about what Yaku was going to say next.
‘Please don’t.’
“The President asked for a meeting with me. Can you believe it? Wow, this is really exciting!”
The icy wind began to intensify, scattering Kira’s hair, which allowed for her somber expression to be obscured.
‘Don’t do it, Yaku.’
‘I’m really getting a meeting with the President! Maybe she just wants to talk, or she might assign me a job? Or maybe… She might just make me an-“
“DON’T!”
“Whaddya mean, ‘don’t’? Why do you think I can’t become an assassin?”
“You’re… not-“
“Ready? You always say that. But I’m not just some little kid anymore, so stop treating me like-“
“Yaku, please, don’t-“
“NOW YOU LISTEN, ONEE-SAN! I’M NOT JUST GOING TO BECOME AN ASSASSIN FOR THE HELL OF IT, I’M GOING TO BECOME AN ASSASSIN TO PROTECT EVERYTHING I LOVE!”
Kira’s eyes widened as she processed that statement. Her mind then flashed back to a distant memory from years ago. A young girl with long jet-black hair and gray eyes stood in front of a woman with neck-length hair and hazel eyes. The girl extended her fist out as she stood stoically with blood smeared across her face.

‘I’M GOING TO BECOME AN ASSASSIN TO PROTECT EVERYTHING I LOVE!’
The memory caused agony to settle within Kira’s mind, which drove her to quickly deploy her sword and bring it to her younger sister’s neck.
As Yaku’s face formed a look of shock and terror, Kira began to allow her emotions to control her words.
“DON’T YOU DARE SAY THAT AGAIN, YAKU! YOU… YOU DON’T NEED TO PROTECT ANYONE… ALL YOU NEED IS ME… TO PROTECT YOU!”
“Onee-san… What is-“
“ALL I HAVE LEFT IS YOU, YAKU! DON’T YOU GET IT? I DON’T WANT TO LOSE YOU! THIS JOB WILL GET YOU KILLED! I DON’T… PLEASE DON’T…”
“But Onee-“
“JUST STAY AWAY FROM THIS JOB, YAKU! I’LL PROTECT YOU! I’LL ALWAYS PROTECT YOU! SO JUST GIVE UP ON BEING AN ASSASSIN!”
The wind began to roar, blowing Kira’s hair to the left. Just beyond the strands of black hair, her gray eyes were filled with tears, which led to streams forming on her cheeks.
As Yaku’s hair was blown to the right, shock continued to dominate her expression.
Wind bellowed throughout the landscape as the two of kin carefully watched each other, both unable to determine their next move.
Eventually, the look of shock subsided from Yaku’s face, which was replaced with beaming confidence.
“Give up on being an assassin? No way.”
Yaku lifted her right hand and placed it against the blade threatening her neck. As she initiated a push against the blade, it began to sink into her palm, with blood shortly appearing after. Yaku grimaced as pain coursed through her hand and body,
“Thanks for your protection for all these years, big sis, but I’m getting too old for that now. It’s time that we start protecting each other. I swear, right here, right now…”
Kira released her hold on the sword, causing it to fall to the ground. Yaku walked up to her older sister and used her damaged hand to grab Kira’s shirt and pull her in.
“…I’M GOING TO BECOME YOUR EQUAL!”
The wind abruptly stop, and the clouds parted way to reveal an orange-tinted sky. Kira’s expression was filled with surprise and amazement as her younger sister held onto her.
‘Wow, Yaku really is…’
Kira grabbed Yaku’s hand and forced it off of her. She followed up the removal with an affectionate hug.
‘…an amazing person, and an amazing sister.’
Yaku’s eyes filled with astonishment and slight embarrassment.
“Wait, uh… what’s this about?”
Kira closed her eyes and began to relax.
“Never change, Yaku… Never change.”
Kira tightened her squeeze, with caused Yaku’s eyes to turn into white orbs.
“Hey- Onee-san- You’re squeezing a bit-“
“If you want to be an assassin, deal with it.”
“ONEEEE-SAN!”
Yaku’s scream echoed throughout the garden and the surrounding landscape.

“I accept your offer, Madam Bri. I will train to become an assassin.”
Bri allowed a smirk to escape from her lips as Yaku proudly declared her intention.
“Congratulations, Yaku. You are now hereby an Assassin Trainee. Obviously, since you’re a trainee, you’ll need a trainer. I think I know just the person to train you.”
Bri directed her attention to Kira, who was watching the light ceremony from the corner of the room. As she met Bri’s gaze, a look of confusion appeared on Kira’s face.
“Who, me? Since when do I train people?”
“You won’t be going on a mission for a while, so I figured you have the time to train your sister. After all, you’re one of Kita’s best, so you may have the ability to train someone who may potentially be the next star of the organization.”
Yaku turned to Kira and flashed a wide smile.
“You hear that, Onee-san? I’m going to be totally awesome!”
Kira slowly formed a reserved smile.
“I hope you’re ready, Yaku, because I won’t go easy on you.”
“I’m totally ready!”
The sun shone brightly outside the office window.
‘I’ll make you the next great assassin, Yaku. That way, you’ll never get hurt.’
