NINE: quest giver

Ashur blinked a few times at the new information as it had all been learned in a heartbeat. The second time that information was just… there. Like it hadn’t ever not been there. It was truly a weird feeling.

It was more than he was able to understand and grasp that concept that was shocking: a warrior could also learn to sneak since it was a skill, since it was based on individual effort. Though, there was only so much time that people had: so, people would still likely not take the time to learn it.

Though even Ashur understood the implication. Customization was only to his imagination.

It was also nice to know that he could still do things like building and not have that be a class. How on earth would he defend himself?

Unless it could be a class, of course.

He would just have to find out by playing the game.

'Ashur, was it?' The elf called out, bringing him back to the world. He had said the man's name as if he hadn't already uttered that he knew the Dwarf had come here to the precise moment.

‘Sorry, yeah.’ Ashur’s voice would crack slightly. He hadn’t ever been in a fight that included weaponry before, so learning how to do all of this was still new to him. Where there was anxiety there was also a tremendous amount of confidence and nonchalance waiting to break out.

'Well, Ashur, I wouldn’t worry about it. There is time to figure out who you are.' Naska spoke with wisdom beyond his years. The man frowned, not happy with the lack of answer from Ashur.

The other man would go towards the door whilst he spoke out loud.

‘Well, I have some things to do. Naska, if you want to schedule him in for later should he decide to, it’ll be the usual spot.’ The guard didn’t even say his name and was presumptuous.

‘You’ll have to forgive my colleague. He is Rye, Captain of the Guard. He means well although comes across as brash.’ The elf would pack up a few things on the table and began to push the chairs back in to the table, which Ashur would also follow suit and help on doing.

Stolen novel; please report.

Great. His dislike was towards someone in authority.

The last time he’d challenged it he ended up being a paraplegic as he had been hit by a car.

This time around though he couldn’t die. So, there was that.

‘It’s fine, I’m used to it.’ Ashur would say as there were some small screeches from the wood being moved across wood. The elf would go towards the window again and seat himself at the desk at the end of the room.

Ashur would go to the opposite side of the desk. Outside the window was the barracks yard, and he could see a few guards out there just chilling out.

Seems to be usual for them. Ashur thought to himself while the other man put some stuff away.

‘Well, if you’re up for it, we could have some help in doing a routine check around the forest area to our immediate north. It’s going to be in a few hours’ time. It’s not very dangerous but is perfect for someone as yourself. We find ourselves at a slight disadvantage as for quite a few animals it’s a breeding season.’ The elf began to explain, and a notification would pop up in front of him.

So, this is a quest… a smirk came to Ashur’s face.

‘I’d love to.’ Ashur would nod. The man would clap his hands together.

You have accepted the quest.

‘Fantastic, Ashur! I’ll let them know to expect the company.’ The elf would say, and they would speak for a few more minutes but of some trivialities.

As he exited the room, another notification would pop up.

You have improved relations with the councillor Naska. +100 Reputation in Kirkenfold.

Ashur would smile, and for the next few hours, getting the swing of things would be his playtime. He went out of the door and into the town.
