THE LAB

Sammy and his sister, Sally reunited but it wasn’t for long. The scientists working in the lab took Sammy, where they mutilated his wolf muzzle, making his face flat, they operated turning the big slit of his face into a mouth full of sharp and poisonous teeth, where they then stitched up. They injected him with tests of vitals, his neck grew long, where they added a second mouth in his throat. This mouth had a long tongue, and teeth as sharp as his original mouth. The scientists then stitched his neck up, adding a long arm on his back, where spikes began growing out his skin and fur. These spikes had a venomous touch, unbelievably sharp and big as they grew over the years. The claws of his 5th leg that stood up on his back were as sharp as a bears. His paws grew big, and fluffy. It was like he was unrecognizable. Once Sammy was sent back to his cage, he rested, exhausted from the procedures, but this was just the start. Sally went in a few hours late, she was there “operated” on. Her muzzle mutilated, turning into a large frown. They had both lost their ears in this process, but Sally grew horns. She had 4 horns, 2 big ones and 2 medium ones. Unlike Sammy, her eyes took the shape of an X. His eyes were big black circles, with no soul to be found. Once her operation was done, she was sent back to her cage to heal.

Sammy and Sally’s cages were always far apart, but this wasn’t too big of an issue during freetime. Sammy had made friends, Celest and Fiddle. Neither of them were new there, but they spoke to Sammy quite often. It felt like they were each other's only connection of peace in the hell they were locked up in. Sally met Little Lillith, where they became wonderful friends with Fiddle, Sammy, and Celest. In freetime, they met up but something was off with Celest. “Hey, what’s up with you Celly?” Sammy spoke, his dark voice filled with hints of sympathy. “They’re going to operate on me again, and even change my identity later today, I’m nervous. I’m really nervous, I heard them talking about it this morning.” Celest spoke, her voice filled with anxiety. Sammy laid beside her in the garden the friends usually met up in when they could. Sally spoke up, “Try not to worry about it Celest, I’m sure you’ll be gorgeous either way. All of us here are weird, and no matter your identity, we’ll always love you.” The words coming out of Sally’s mouth sounded genuine but worried. Little Lillith began speaking, “Hey, they did that to me too. My original name was Lilly. No matter what, we’re gonna be here for you.” Her tone was soft, yet her voice lingered with the corruption of the awful lab. Sammy hugged Celest close, he spoke gently to her as they laid side by side in the grass under the warm sun. “Everything will be okay Celest..” His words choked, as he had a nagging doubt, it won’t be okay. Celest cleared her throat, tears starting to go down her eyes, “One of them said it was a dangerous operation, and they think I may not make it depending on how it goes.” Celest choked back her tears, her voice breaking. Sammy looked down at Celest, his expression pitiful as he hugged her close, they all began to silently cry their sympathy for her. “All we can do is spend our time together, and hope it isn’t our last..” Sally spoke, her head down with grief, her frown not seeming to change. Sammy’s smile always remained, even in his state of sorrow.

They spent the day together, trying to take their mind off of it; they had tons of fun playing games until it was time to go back inside for dinner, and then back to their cages. Celest was in fact, taken to the back of the lab, and operated on. The operation went well, and she didn’t look much different despite her new set of ears, hearing, and 5 tails. Yet, it was long before the group had another free time to catch up. Unfortunately, that day, one of the guards caught Sammy and another experiment fighting, when the guard tried to intervene, the guard’s sharp pocket knife cut Sammy’s torso, leaving him on the nurse’s side. This meant now that there were risks of fights, they felt it would be a while before they could trust them back outside. They were now strictly limited to breakfast, exercise inside, lunch, dinner and bedtime. Sally had a matching stitched up scar on her torso, she tried to protect Sammy, and they both got it. Sally’s scar never fully healed, despite it opening from time to time; it never caused a big issue. A few months later though, this would become an issue.
