LOVE?

As the months drove by, the group of friends only got closer; they only spoke to each other. Under the warm sun and the cool breeze the group sat in the same garden they always do. “Hey Sal, you doin okay? That cut of yours still isn’t stitched up.” Sammy spoke as he walked up next to Celest, across from where Sally and Little Lillith laid. He’d always lay beside Celest, and even give her little nicknames, it was one of the sweetest things he's done with someone. “It hurts, and it keeps re-opening, I think it's getting infected..” Sally spoke, stretching out under the sun. “You wanna go to one of the guards, or nurses?” Sammy suggested, “Eh.. nah, I'm sure it'll be alright.” She spoke reluctantly, she didn’t want anyone else to worry about it. Celest finally spoke, “Looks pretty bad Sal, you should get it checked out.”, “I guess.. Lillith, will you come with me?” Sally asked. “Of course, does anyone else wanna go?”, they shook their heads no. Sammy rested his head in the short grass, the warm breeze blew over him and Celest as they laid there. Sammy sat there for a minute, realizing how close they were, the grey fur on his face turned a pale pink as he rested his head so it wasn’t noticeable. “You doin’ alright Sam?” Celest spoke softly, a tone of sympathy filled her voice. He adjusted his paws, “Oh, uh yeah don’t worry Celly.” Celly was a nickname he’d normally call her, he just felt like it was cute. Celest pressed into him, as they hugged in the grass, Little Lillith returned, without Sally.

“Hey guys, Sally’s okay for now, she’s getting stitched up but the infection won’t go away.” She spoke, her tone low. “Oh, I hope Sally’s gonna be okay.” Sammy paused, “Why won’t her infection go away?” His tone shifted. “They’re saying something about a disease, maybe a virus.. I’m not quite sure, sorry.” Little Lillith would lay down next to Celest. “It’s alright.” He spoke as he laid his head back down to his paws. “So, what have yall been up to? Hm?” She smirked as she spoke, in an flirty voice. “What do you mean?” Sammy paused. “You both are always so close, but you swear you're just friends.” Little Lillith giggled at them, as Celest began, “Oh shut up Lil, just because we’re close doesn’t mean it’s anything else..” Her tone drifting, she began to question if she really did like Sammy. Sammy was already aware of his feelings for Celest, it's just he could never grasp the words to really tell anyone. A few days later, Sally and Sammy were talking over lunch, “You like Celest and you know it big bro.” She spoke, her words stern. “What nonsense did you get that from?” He denied it, his words defensive. “Don’t lie, you suck at it.” Sally’s words were cold as Sammy spoke, “Fine, maybe a bit.”, “OOOOOOOOOOOO” Sally exclaimed, “I KNEW IT!” Her excitement calmed down as she laughed at him, his wide, unsettling smile remained. “Just.. don’t tell her.” He spoke.

After lunch, Sally went up to Celest. Sally being the amazing little sister she is, she happily told Celest about what Sammy had admitted. “Woah..” Celest spoke, her voice surprised yet her cheeks turned a rosy pink hearing the news. “Sooooo Celestttt, what do you think about Sam?” Sally spoke, her voice intrigued as her big frown remained. “I’ll talk to him.” She softly giggled, happy with the news. Celest confidently walked up to Sammy, “Hey Sam, I’ve got a question for you.” Her tone was curious yet intrigued as he replied, “Go on?”, “Is it true you like me? Ya know.. more than a friend?~” Her tone innocently teasing him, yet he looked away, obviously flustered. “Eh.. Uhm..” Sammy trailed off. “Fine.. I admit it.” His voice stern yet it was rather obvious he was flustered, not facing her, his long neck turned away as his unsettling smile remained in place. “Awe, I like you too ya know that Sammy?” Celest spoke, empathy filled her voice as she chuckled. Her laugh always made Sammy feel happy, and complete. He turned and faced her, laughing a bit as well. “I- uh, you do?” Sammy spoke. Celest hugged Sammy, their fluffy fur meeting as they embraced each other, Celest softly kissing Sammy on the cheek. “I love you so much Celest.” He spoke softly, hugging her tight. She nodded her head, not replying until they pulled away their hug. Little Lillith walked over, “Eww lovey dovey, what’s happenin’ here? Yall finally get together?” Her words were slightly harsh, as her tone was rather happy for them. Sammy looked at Celest, letting her respond. “Oh! Eh, yes, we are actually!” She smiled sweetly at Little Lillith.
