Chapter Fifteen: Scale & Brimstone

Chapter Fifteen: Scale & Brimstone

Alatar sinks further and further into the ground as he blocks Aurelia's strike with the Shield Spell. "She's not even using her spells, Alatar. Focus and put an end to her. Why are you holding back!?" Vorgrimm says in his head. Alatar ignores it as the Shield cracks. Aurelia's face was filled with malice as she jumped into the air, doing a front flip as she came crashing down with her heel. Alatar is sent crashing through the ground with a shockwave as it exposes a hidden cavern underneath. Landing in the cold water, Alatar is dazed. "Demon...She called me a Demon." He looks at his reflection in the water. Instead of himself, he again sees what many would believe to be his twin. "Alatar!" Vorgrimm shouts. "Get your shit together! If you hold back, you will die!" The water ripples as rocks begin to fall.

Two pairs of Golden Light come towards Alatar at a furious pace. He barely dodges as the water shoots upward from the force. As the water falls, Alatar again sees Vorgrimm in the reflection. "You wanted my power, but the second someone calls you what you are! Are you going to freeze up?! Pathetic, you want to know something...you've always been a Demon. Since that day, you got captured and used to be my new body. Then you decided to copy my spell and use it at the same time as me, causing our souls to smash together." Vorgrimm's eyes become golden as an arm reaches through the water, grabbing Alatar by his neck. Alatar tries to defend himself, but his mind and Vorgrimm's words catch him off guard.

On the other hand, Aurelia is focused on one thing and one thing only: his demise. She tosses Alatar into the air as she roundhouse kicks him down the cavern. Her booming voice echoes as Alatar is sent spiraling. "Draconic Magic: Twisting Cyclone" Feeling a breeze, then swirling wind, Alatar sees a red-hued vortex suck him in as he starts going hundreds of miles per second, repeatedly hitting every part of the cavern as it crashes down around him, causing his mask to break apart. The vortex ends as he gets slammed into a stalagmite, impaling him.

He coughs up blood as he lays there, "Bones...broken...I can't breathe. Why can't I heal?" he hears footsteps behind him. "It's simple." He sees Vorgrimm looking down at him with his hands in his pocket. "You don't want to. You're so caught in your head that you are what you hate. Instead of hating it, you should've embraced it. You would've been unstoppable." it drips down Alatar's face as his vision becomes blurry. Vorgrimm looks disgusted by Alatar. "It's ironic. You hate yourself more than you hate Demons." Alatar tries to get up but can barely move his finger. "No...I...hate...I..." He feels his eyes become heavy as he slowly closes them. His eyes shoot up as he breaks the stalagmite, freeing himself. He sits up, taking a deep breath. "Oh...I love this!" He shouts in pure pleasure! His body heals as the rocks fall on top of him.

Aurelia filed out of the hole as she breathed deeply. "I've done it...I thought he would give me more problems, but I overestimated him. Now it's time to deal with the remainders of the monsters." She begins to fly toward the mountain as Mana's Pressure builds up. She turns slightly. "What?" Orange flames erupt from the ground like lava as he climbs out. "Ahh~! The smell of brimstone! Reminds me of home."

"Impressive warrior. I shouldn't have doubted your durability. I will at least ask for your name; I need it to remember you when I kill you." Aurelia says as her wings flap in the wind. "Oh, little ol me?~ You may call me Grimm." He says with a wicked smile. "Draconic Magic: Draconic Roar!" She shouts, releasing a powerful shockwave. It hits Vorgrimm directly as a small explosion is made. The smoke clears as Vorgrimm swipes his hair back, being entirely unaffected. "That's your spell? It isn't worth copying, but you're strong enough to have fun with."

He blitzes towards her as she tries to defend herself, but to no avail, as he grabs her by her hair, swinging her down to the ground. Feeling the impact, she gasps for air as Vorgrimm starts chuckling. "This feels absolutely amazing!" He holds his arms out in ecstasy. "I'M ALIVE!!!" He hollers out a burst of manic laughter as the fire slowly erupts from his hands. He begins to rain down fire at Aurelia as she chants and moves her hands into a spell. "Crystalize Ward!" She says as the fire hits her barrier; it shines like that crystal, reflecting the attacks on Vorgrimm.

Smiling delightfully, he swims through the attacks as he advances on Aurelia. Vorgrimm crashes into the ground. She barely dodges his, debris hitting her face as she feels the difference in power. The warrior she fought earlier had controlled rage, but this one. This warrior...no.. this monster's power emits something entirely different—pure Evil. Vorgrimm goes on the immediate attack, not letting her catch even a second of a break. Every attack she makes is dodged, and every block she makes is broken. She cannot keep up. "Is this the same power the warrior had before? It hasn't increased...not even a little bit." She dodges as she prepares to cast a spell, chanting and moving her hands. She looks at him. "Inferno's Em-" Vorgrimm pimp slaps her as she starts bouncing across the ground. Vorgrimm dashes and slams both feet on her stomach, then immediately punts her into the air. "I learned this from Alatar...it's not fancy, just disrespectful."

"I can see him getting ready for an attack! This gives me one chance to let it all out!" She says as she breaths in. Her throat glowed blue. She fires out a burst of blue flame down to Vorgrimm. "Everything I got! 200%!" She says as her throat begins to char. The fire is so intense that the air begins to visually boil as it hits the ground, almost instantly, turning most of it to magma. "No matter how strong he is! He can't handle this temperature! This turns mortals that are even a 1700-meter radius of the smoke into instant ash!" Feeling more confident, her panic subsides. "With a direct hit like that, he's already gone."

To her eyes, she slowly sees it, one hand reaching out, then another as she sees dark brown hair coming out of the flames. Then those bright orange eyes stared deep into Aurelia's soul, and finally, she saw the wicked smile, one fitting for a Demon Lord. "You call that hot? Please...let me display you... proper heat!" He uppercuts Aurelia in the jaw, sending it clean off, immediately stopping her from breathing fire. As she flipped backward, she heard Vorgrimm talking to himself. "What was it called again? Oh right...Demon Swirl."

Aurelia feels the searing pain as she hits the ground. Around her, the ground is heating up so fast that it turns ash. In that brief instant, she felt and saw Vorgrimm's power. Those two were the only senses to process what was happening before they sent no information to her brain. Her sight, hearing, touch, taste, and smell were eradicated.

The flames subside as Vorgrimm drops to the ground and looks down at the cindered flesh that was Aurelia. With no emotion besides the fleeting satisfaction leaving his body, he grabs her face and leans in close, putting his ear to her mouth. Smiling sinisterly, he feels the softest of breath tickle his ear. "Look at you!~" He says, patting her burnt head. "I knew you could survive!." Orange Mana flows out of his hand as it wraps around Aurelia. "Dark Magic: Transfer Vitality." He says as Aurelia begins to heal completely. She looked up and saw him staring down at her like he was doing her a favor, helping her...She hates it. Hates him.

"Why won't you just kill me..." she says dryly. Vorgrimm scoffs. "Why would I do that? You're so valuable!" She turns her eyes away, but he grabs her face and turns it to him. "Don't be like that! I just helped you out, right? I'm not that bad~" She thinks about spitting at him, but she believes she'll die before she can even let it out. "What do you want?" She asks, looking at him with hate. "You will help me..." He says, tilting her head up.

"Wi-with what?!" She asks, straining. "With the boy," Vorgrimm says as he places his other hand on her head. The slicing of flesh and screams are heard throughout the land, only muffled by the howling wind.
