The sound of waves crashing against the rocks. The sound of insects chirping. The sound of seagulls screeching through the heavens. These were the sounds that woke me from my unconsciousness.
“Where am I?” I mumbled to myself as I struggled to get on my feet. “What happened?”
I had no clue where I was or where my crew mates were. The last thing I remember is our ship perishing in a devastating storm. I assumed I was going to die as soon as I fell into the water, so I let myself get thrown around by the waves as I let my consciousness fade away.
“How did I survive?” I wondered. “Did I even survive? Maybe this is the afterlife?”
I soon got my answer, thanks to a crab that pinched my big toe. “Ouch!” I shouted, while trying to shake of the crab from my foot. “At least I know I’m still alive.” I concluded.
I looked around if there was anyone or anything else washed up on the shore. I found a sword, a small rope, but most important of all, the necklace with the tooth of a shark my late father left me.
“At least I still have this.” I sighed as I put the necklace around my neck.
I picked up the small rope and tied my spiky, messy hair into a ponytail. Lastly, I picked up the sword. It was a curved sword, the grip was made of gold. This must have been the sword of a strong pirate, maybe even from our captain.

That’s when I realized I saw no one else from my crew here. I assumed the worst and concluded that they’d all perished and that I was the only surviving member of our crew.
I decided to go into the jungle, which seemed to cover the entire island except for the coastline.
“There must be something edible on this island.” I thought.
Surviving became my top priority. Living on for my drowned crew mates, that seemed to be the task I was given by the oceans. As I wandered through the overgrown jungle, cutting away all the vines that are in my way, I found a few plants that seemed edible. I took the plants with me and continued my way through the jungle.
The already dark jungle got darker and darker as time went by. “I should find a shelter.” I mumbled to myself as I continued my way. However, I was completely lost in this enormous jungle. I decided to look for a cave, a hollow tree or something to use as shelter for the night.
It didn’t take me long to find a shelter. However, it wasn’t a cave or a hollow tree. What I found was a village, or ruins of an an ancient village rather. I decided to take shelter in the least destroyed house there was.
The ruin had no roof, but the walls seemed sturdy enough to keep them from collapsing.
I made a fire using some branches on the ground for some light.
“This should keep me warm for the night.” I told myself as I started eating some of the berries I found in the jungle today.
After I ate some berries I decided to call it a day and laid down and fell asleep.
“Let’s make a raft tomorrow.” I mumbled to myself as I fell asleep.
