The Beginning of Cultivation

Antiquity Era, Warring Sects Period.

"Is the Human Ancestor going to visit the Floating Cloud City?!"

"Yes! Yes! I heard he will preach the Dao for three days and nights!"

Cultivators rushed in droves to the Floating Cloud city to hear the Human Ancestor preach. From powerful to weak, everyone who could clamored to get a glimpse of the ancestor.

In the mortal cities below, you could see mortals kowtowing, praying, and burning incense to the human ancestor.

People from big clans and sects had the front-row seats, and cultivators set aside their grudges and talked about the Human Ancestor's legendary feats.

This was the person who started the cultivation era!

The warring sects gave the Human Ancestor face and stopped fighting entirely in the vicinity of the Floating Cloud City.

One kid asked his father a question that had been repeated for millions of years.

"How did the ancestor manage to gain a foothold in the Celestial World?"

"It is a crazy story, son! In a world overrun with Celestial Beasts...."

...

Archaic Era, Primordial Period.

The beginning of the Celestial World and the Nine Heavens originated in the Archaic Era.

The Archaic Era is comprised of five periods. The Primordial Period, Sentience Awakening Period, Earth Remedial Period, and Wisdom Advent Period.

In the beginning, the omnipresent Primordial Qi was swirling, and the Universe was dreamlike.

Embodying the Laws of the Universe were the Primordial Deities that were as old as time.

The Primordial Deities were content with existing as they always had. They were peaceful entities and had no concept of fighting over resources.

Primordial Deities were powerful but innocent creatures with simple and rigid thoughts. They each controlled a fundamental Law that had existed since the dawn of time.

One of the Primordial Deities was a weak seed-like being that encapsulated tiny amounts of the power of each of these Laws.

It was much weaker than its brethren, and this power disparity over time ingrained the concept of strengthening itself onto the seed.

Like its siblings, the seed lacked a flexible mind and almost seemed programmed. However, unlike all the other Primordial Deities who were happy with merely existing as they were, the seed wanted to expand itself to become stronger.

It experimented with different ways to become stronger. Soon, it realized that in the void, there was more energy than only Primordial Qi. It tried refining one of these energies and succeeded!

Celestial Qi!

Celestial Qi was easier to manipulate, and the seed realized that consuming it could strengthen its innate forces. This was an ability that Primordial Qi did not have.

There was no known way of absorbing pure Primordial Qi to strengthen yourself. The Primordial Deities would forever have equally as much energy as they did when they were born.

At least a method to absorb more Primordial Qi than you were innately designed to hold did not yet exist. Primordial Deities could only absorb as much Primordial Qi as their bodies could accommodate, and it did not strengthen them beyond that.

Celestial Qi could power Laws just like Primordial Qi could. However, they lost some power in favor of flexibility.

Primordial Qi was rigid like the minds of the Primordial Deities that used these forces, but it was exceptionally potent and could generate tremendous power.

On the other hand, the Celestial Qi was slightly less potent. Still, it was of the highest purity and at the zenith of flexibility. You could use it to do anything.

The seed thought that becoming the strongest existence in the Universe did not seem impossible now.

The seed floated in the mystical void and continuously refined this new energy called Celestial Qi until the obsession of expanding itself had entirely rooted itself onto the seed.

Its method of absorbing the Celestial Qi was extraordinarily rudimentary, which made the process slow.

However, it did get stronger once it had repeated this ordeal over a long course of time. Unfortunately, there seemed to be a limit to what it could achieve with this method, and the strengthening was excruciatingly poor.

It would never catch up to its siblings even if it spent an eternity refining Celestial Qi.

A vague understanding formed in its simple mind, and it understood that it needed to do something else to succeed. Unlike anything it had ever thought of, an idea gradually emerged from the depths of its mind. Could it attempt to create beings with more potential than itself?

Following instinct and unclear feelings, it manipulated the Celestial Qi and mixed it with its innate power. What was unique about the seed was the fact that it contained traces of every Law in the Universe. Fusing all of these innate powers with Celestial Qi might have miraculous effects.

It seemed to intrinsically understand that this fusion might create something entirely new and unique to the Universe. It wanted to use these new creations to help him fight the other Primordial Deities and allow it to attempt to consume its siblings' Laws.

With some trial and error, the seed achieved the desired results, almost like this was one of its innate abilities.

As the Primordial Deities weren't ever born and had always existed throughout time, the Universe would at long last welcome the birth of its first creature. Colossal vortexes started spinning in the void, creating new life inside.

"ROAR!" An unparalleled roar that the Universe had never heard before rumbled through the void.

The roar of the Dragon and Phoenix echoed throughout the infinite cosmos, marking the inception of the seed's achievement. Spatial fissures from their echoing roar spread through the void, showcasing their immense power.

Several Primordial Deities became curious and investigated, but these new beings were arrogant and proud, and the deities were promptly dissuaded from interacting with them.

The echoing roars continued to be a natural occurrence. You could continuously hear the roar of the Qilin, the White Tiger, the Vermillion Bird, the Xuan Wu, and many more as if announcing their arrival and thanking their mother, the seed, for granting them life.

These new beings were conferred the title of the Celestial Beast Race.

They were born from Celestial Qi and had inherited a wisp of the power of every Primordial Deity; however, they still came out different each time.

The fusion of the Universe's preexisting Laws and Celestial Qi had baffling results each time that did not make sense.

The first Celestial Beasts that drew breath were the strongest, with the consequent beasts coming out weaker and weaker until the seed exhausted its power. It did not want to create more beings since it took a significant toll on it. The seed was now significantly smaller, and it intrinsically understood that every being it would create from now on would be weaker as if restricted by some force.

The Celestial Beast Race was innately perfect, born with robust bodies, and had immense potential. They had different specialties, and it seemed like the concoction between the traces of the Laws of the Universe and Celestial Qi created incredible wonders.

Somehow, the different energies magically mixed perfectly, just like they did in the seed's own body as if they were all meant to be one.

The Celestial Beast Race had no issues absorbing vast amounts of Celestial Qi, and they quickly went from weak to strong by this method.

Since they were born from Celestial Qi, they could intrinsically comprehend every detail about Celestial Qi. They could easily manipulate it like an extension of their body. Soon, they understood how to conjure spells, strengthen their body further, and achieve other amazing feats with Celestial Qi.

Over time, these techniques became more and more refined as they combined their spells with their powerful bloodline. They quickly realized that their bloodline was their most extraordinary power and that they should develop it since it was the fusion of the Universe's Laws and Celestial Qi.

On the other hand, the Primordial Deities had no concept of warfare. They did not understand the immense threat these new beings were to their existence.

Many Primordial Deities tried to contact and understand this new race several times. Still, the Celestial Beast Race had no desire to initiate a relationship with them, as if they were disgusted by them.

No Primordial Deities took it to heart, and they all kept on simply existing as they always had.

The Universe was infinite, and there was plenty of space for both groups, leading to members of respective groups eventually rarely being in contact with each other.

The Celestial Beast Race grew in strength as they could procreate with each other, leading to them growing to shocking numbers over time. As well as increasing their proficiency with their spells and other abilities.

Over time, some abilities that resonated deeply with the bloodline of the respective clans were ingrained into their bloodline and passed on as an inheritance to their offspring to give them a headstart.

After many eternities, the Celestial Beast Race had long surpassed their mother, the seed, in terms of power. However, they had always retained their reverence toward it.

The seed during this time only continued to absorb Celestial Qi, growing larger and larger.

The Celestial Beast Race had inherited many of the seed's traits, such as a longing for power, and contrary to every Primordial Deity, the Celestial Beasts seemed to be innately programmed to be prideful and disdain all other creatures.

Due to this principle, some divisions and clear echelons existed between the clans. This arrogance also led them to want to challenge the Primordial Deities; however, they were strictly forbidden as they knew they were not strong enough.

After gathering power for an immense amount of time, growing to vast numbers, and having countless excellent spells at their disposal, all Celestial Beasts got a mental message from their mother, the seed.

The seed felt like they were ready for its plan and communicated its desire for the bodies of the Primordial Deities to be brought to it.

Many Celestial Beasts already had the idea of being the sole rulers of the Universe, and with the prompting of their mother, no one could say no; the Celestial Beasts gathered en masse under the leadership of the Dragon and Phoenix clans and attacked the Primordial Deities.

The Celestial Beasts were experts at combat as they often fought amongst themselves. With the sole purpose of wiping out the Primordial Deities, they had accumulated an infinitely large foundation.

The Primordial Deities did not understand the concept of fighting. They were taken aback as they had never attempted combat nor understood why they were attacked.

However, the Primordial Deities eventually understood that they needed to fight back unless they wanted to face extinction.

Beings as old as time were now faced with their own mortality.
