Chapter 5: Secrets to Acing the Exam
!AN!: This story is starting as a translation of 忍校教师,我教书就能变强全文免费阅读 on qidian. HOWEVER, I will be changing the story heavily starting chapter 6.
“Guy, Obito? Let me speak to you both outside for a second.” He headed to the door to wait for them.
They looked at each other and shrugged before heading to where Mukai stood. On the way to Mukai Obito had a strange thought. “Wait…What if he wants to tell Teacher Ikeya about me being late!’ He locked his hands together in a praying motion and promptly fell to his knees
"Please, Mr. Yūsei, I beg you, don't tell Mrs. Ikeya," Obito pleaded with Mukai
If the kids could see into Mukai’s head they would see him staring at them with money signs for eyes. "That will depend on your performance," Mukai replied with a smile, offering no concrete answer.
"Mr. Yūsei, is there something you need?" Might Guy scratched his head, puzzled at the strange stare their teacher was giving them
Mukai was currently locked in his thoughts. He looked over at Might Guy, the man who nearly ended the fight in the anime with Momoshiki, Eventually dubbed the strongest taijutsu specialist by Madara, and struggled to compare those lofty titles to the young boy in front of him.
At this moment, Might Guy believed that his daily training would surely make him a taijutsu master, but he had yet to fully grasp the concept of “youth” and the self-discipline his father spoke of.
He still had room to grow, and Mukai was more than willing to lend a hand during this time.
He gave them a deep sigh "Your theoretical grades have been causing Mrs. Ikeya quite a bit of trouble," Mukai began, shaking his head as he said it.
Upon hearing Mukai's words, even someone as carefree as Obito couldn't help but lower his head in embarrassment.
"It's not that I don't want to study, but the questions are just too difficult to understand. Why do we have to know how to sneak around in specific environments if we can just punch everybody…" Obito tried to argue. Guy swiftly agreed.
Seeing them like this, Mukai was reminded of his high school days grinding through schoolwork,
However, Mukai knew that the real issue lay with them, as the sneak tactics taught in the ninja academy were the simplest kind, with fewer considerations than they'd have to think about in the field.
"But your problems aren't limited to tactics. You're both struggling with history, mathematics, and ninja theory as well," Mukai shook his head.
"What's the use of knowing all that history? It's all in the past," Obito argued, believing that history classes should be abolished. Math might come in handy when shopping, but history and tactics seemed pointless. “Back me up here Guy.”
"I feel the same way," Might Guy nodded in agreement, “I definitely struggle with history too.”
Mukai held his hands up "That's something you'll have to discuss with the Third Hokage; he's the headmaster of the ninja academy, Including its curriculum" Mukai said, indicating he had no say in the matter.

"However, continuing like this isn't a solution, neither for Mr. Ikeya nor for you." He made a show of thinking hard about the solution.
"Do you have some secret to acing exams, Mr. Yūsei?" Obito looked at Mukai with hopeful eyes.
Might Guy also looked eagerly at Mukai, wishing for a way to avoid being at the bottom of the class.
The glint in Mukai's eyes only grew "The secret to acing exams is indeed practice tests—study and practice at the same time!" Mukai revealed his strategy. Given the difficulty level of the ninja academy's written exams, he only needed to apply his experience with standardized tests to easily pass, as passing required only half the class average score.
"Practice tests?" Both were puzzled, not quite understanding.
"You can consider this a special training to prepare for exams. Moreover, if you pass your exams, I'll even give you a little prize," Mukai said with a smile.
"What kind of reward? A dango?" Obito asked curiously.
"I could teach you ninjutsu or taijutsu, essentially offering out-of-school guidance in your training," Mukai responded.
"Really!" Both exclaimed, their eyes wide with disbelief at the unexpected boon.
"The condition is that you pass your exam in a month," Mukai reminded.
Guy and Obito looked at each other, excitement written on their faces
Guy could feel something bubbling up. His right arm shot upwards, elbow locked straight, as his thumb jutted skyward in a thumbs-up gesture. His left eye sparkled, narrowing into a confident wink “YOUUUUUTHHH” He snapped out of it and looked down at his hands ‘Is this what youth is about? I'm fired up,’ Might Guy thought to himself
Obito and Mukai deadpanned at this reaction. Obito had seen Might Dai around the village doing the exact same thing. He sure hoped his friend wouldn't start saying it too often
He shook his head “Anyways, this time, I'll definitely pass," He said determinedly.
Watching the two motivated, Mukai nodded to himself internally, feeling like a wolf in sheep's clothing for leading them to accept his tutelage
The two felt they had struck gold, having received both the secret to passing exams and the promise of guidance in their training.
For Mukai, his thoughts were that becoming their tutor in the guise of special training had to be enough to earn big with the system.
Even if they ultimately failed, Mukai could play it off by saying their effort was commendable and deserving of a reward, potentially earning even more of their goodwill.
Mukai didn't directly take them as students the way he did with Shisui because he was only there for a single class, it would be hard to maintain long-term contact if he didn't set some sort of challenge causing them to frequently seek him out.
After finalizing the details of the special training, Mukai returned to class with them.
"What did Mr. Yūsei call you out for, Obito? He didn't punish you, did he?" Nohara Rin asked with some concern.
"Punish? No way, Mr. Yūsei is great, he taught me the secret to acing exams," Obito immediately defended Mukai.
As long as Mukai could help him shed his last-place status, Obito was ready to sing his praises as the best Teacher in the ninja academy.
Obito was feeling confident after speaking to Mukai "Heh, Rin, you should also pay more attention in class. Don't let me surpass you in the next exam," Obito chuckled.
"If you really could surpass me, that would be something," Nohara Rin responded with a helpless smile, knowing well that she was far from being first, but still ranked high.
After they reentered the classroom, Obito approached his studies with unprecedented seriousness, determined to pass this time and already pondering which ninjutsu he’d ask Mukai to help him learn.
Nohara Rin was surprised by this change, wondering if Obito was truly serious this time. She smiled to herself and focused on her work once more. Three minutes later, Obito slumped over his desk, he was still the same Obito she knew.
Out of nowhere, a piece of chalk flew in a perfect parabola, hitting Obito on the head. Obito looked around in confusion, seeing Mukai, Nohara Rin, and Might Guy diligently working, and remembering what he had said just three minutes ago, his face turned slightly red, and he lost all desire to sleep.
After this little episode of Obito falling asleep, the rest of the class went smoothly.
【Class Finished】
【Grade: A】
【Reward: Leaf Hurricane】
This time's reward was a taijutsu technique, one that Might Guy would develop in the future.
At first glance, the Leaf Hurricane seemed simple, just a kick, but Mukai, who had begun learning it, realized it was not as easy as it sounded. The technique required precise coordination, explosive strength, and dedicated conditioning.
Mukai was worried about not having anything to teach Guy, so he was very satisfied with this reward. After school, Mukai wandered in the forest south of the Leaf Village, looking for a suitable place to train. Given his status as a member of the Foundation, he knew Danzo was aware of his house
Considering Danzo's disdain for the Uchiha, letting him find out that Mukai had been teaching Shisui ninjutsu without reporting could lead to suspicions of betrayal. Even though Mukai made extensive use of Sensory Jutsu he couldn't keep it active constantly because of his small chakra reserves
Thus, Mukai planned to take Shisui to secluded locations for future training sessions. Eventually, Mukai found a secluded spot by a small river, ideal for training, and noted it before heading home.
As Mukai got closer to his house his chest suddenly got tighter and adrenaline coursed through his body. It seemed as though his legs were moving through molasses, He stopped and looked all around him. His brows furrowed ‘What am I so worried about?’ He wondered to himself.
His body wasn't his but it still had that sixth sense honed from years in a ninja world. And right now that sense was sounding an alarm. Mukai's feelings weren't for no reason, as upon rounding a corner and entering his yard, he spotted a ninja wearing an animal mask standing inside.
