The image of hers that she had created and presented to Wei Tou was that of an extremely dependable and stern sister, powerful enough to destroy the very mountains and she had done a very good job at maintaining that.

Instead she looked directly at Wei Ling and opened her mouth but no words came out, then taking a deep breath she finally spoke“ Wei Ling there’s something more that I wanted to confess, I’m the one guilty for this clan’s destruction and your father’s missing. I haven’t revealed this information to anyone not even to your father, it’s about my bloodline, I was afraid that you and Wei Tou would be sacrificed for the safety of the clan”.

Wei Ling also didn’t looked as surprised as her mother expected her to be instead Wei Ling gave her a condescending look and before her mother could ask, Wei Ling already spoke “ I always had a hunch of my bloodline being special, me being more capable than any of my peers, my cultivation and comprehension towards the base element fire made me suspect but seeing Wei Tou’s astonishing growth in his early years confirmed it for me that we both share something that my cousins in this clan don’t and the only possible source is you.”

This time Wei Ling also sighed but continued “ and you aren’t the one responsible for this war, I maybe very well be the reason that have brought this catastrophe to this clan, not having enough power to back upon has made this war one sided and me being flashy without a strong foundation to to stand upon made things worse. I’m aware, if I would have agreed to become a concubine of these big shots. This clan war could never have been initiated but I knew what they wanted and I could never be exploited even at the expense of my life but they pulled the whole clan into this.

Wei Ling was seething by the time she finished her sentence and then shouted “ they wanted to make me a breeding sow for their family’s prosperity and I can never allow this.

Her mother gave Wei Ling a few minutes as she nodded in approval “ It’s good that you already understand the crux of the matter but getting annihilated with the clan won’t help anyone other than your own consciousness. What they want is with us three but so long their targets have been wrong, if they have abducted your father and had his blood tested they would have known who their primary target should be and I’m not giving them what they want not even a strand of my hair would fall into their hands, the same goes for you guys.”

Wei Ling’s mother looked deep into her eyes and continued “all they will face is loss, there will be nothing they’ll gain from here. I’ll make it so but no matter how vengeful I become, I can not take the life of my own children. That’s why I wanted my children to be far away when I do the deed.”

There was silence in the room no one spoke for few moments “and that’s why I came to a plan which the clan agreed to. We are going to blow everything within few miles of this mansion so even a high level cultivator won’t be able to get out in one piece. Instead of slowly dying to their guerrilla tactics, its better to blow ourselves with the enemy causing them severe damage and I’m capable of doing it.”

Her mother was silent again before tightening her fist “Wei Ling, the clan is not fighting anymore, clan is going to sacrifice itself in hope that their death will not be in vain. I have convinced them to blow everyone and let you escape but you will also take Wei Tou with you and as a person responsible for this I’ll stay behind.”

“After looking at our current forces we’ll probably last till evening, so we have to get you out of the clan before that. In 15 minutes you will make your way through the hidden passage, that’s when elders armed with artifacts will act as human bombs to cause specifically target and damage the high level cultivators it will also create distraction. Exactly five minutes after the first bomb goes off, I will activate the Sun’s wrath, the explosive that I had created but never had the chance to use. I never thought it will be used to decimate my husband’s clan. Wei Ling remember five minutes all you have to get out of the range of the explosion.”

There was fire in the eyes of her mother, Wei Ling chose to remain silent “she could see that her mother prioritized her own blood over the clan, all she was worried about the survival of her children. This clan wasn’t as important to her as it was to Wei Ling.”

Then her mother looked towards hannabi who was standing there like a statue and she finally spoke to her “ Thank you for taking care of my daughter and helping her, even at this time when the wold has forsaken our clan. You will also escape with her, I don’t think you’ll be interested in sacrificing yourself with the clan.”

To which Hannabi just nodded not speaking a word.

It was then, Wei Ling’s mom started making her way towards her workshop, the same place where Wei Tou was also hidden. After rearranging the formation she pulled the door open. Wei Tou was just standing behind the door, maybe trying to listen in the conversation. But as soon as he looked towards his mother he was shocked he just stood there maybe it was too much for a five year old child to see his mother in such a terrible state. However seeing Wei Tou standing there as a statue Wei Ling finally came to realization, she for the the first time in her life recognized that Wei Tou was her weakness. Wei Ling was angry, she was angry at herself for being weak and the worst part was that she couldn’t even direct her anger at anyone, just made it worse.

Wei ling tried calming herself or at this rate she’ll probably blow her top and end up doing something regrettable. Instead she diverted herself to the map to go through escape plan one last time, while her mother was still busy hugging and kissing Wei Tou.

Not wasting any more time her mother finally moved to bring the sun’s wrath from the workshop as she made her way out of the room, when Wei ling’s mother was out of the room, she passed by Wei Ling and handed over a ring “ Open this when you are alone” She stressed the alone, as she looked Wei Ling in the eyes. Then she ran to battle without looking back and Wei Ling also didn’t waste anytime picking Wei Tou up, as she ran towards the hidden passage.

As Wei Ling was making her way towards the exit, Wei Tou started with his questions but Wei Ling in no mood of entertaining him let him be while she mentally communicated with Hannabi as they both fled “ Hannabi I’m sorry for dragging you into this but after thinking this through there’s no point in you tagging along and things might actually get worse, so you probably should find a way to hide yourself till all this is over and make a run for your home. I appreciate your help and I’ll find a way to pay you back in the future.”

But Hannabi’s reply was something Wei Ling’s didn’t expect instead of running away she chose to follow Wei Ling. Hannabi replied “ Let me accompany you just in case you need my help with something, two is still better than one. Maybe I could be put to some use.”

It made Wei Ling feel a bit warm as she didn’t had to be alone in future but it also made her feel bad for Hannabi as she was leaving behind her family and friends just to be with her and Wei Ling didn’t know when Hannanbi was will be able to return.

After Wei Ling left the mansion she soon heard the explosions going in back there, she has to increase her speed, this was the chance that her mother talked about. It was now or never and so her speed increased, she knew she only had five minutes before the sun’s wrath goes down and high level cultivators who would have been surrounding the mansion would be in for a big surprise but that surprise came at the expense of her whole clan.

While Wei Ling poured everything she had on her movement technique she had left Hannabi behind without even noticing, she felt the resistance of air increasing as she was speeding but slowed down a bit in consideration of Wei Tou and when she found Hannabi way behind her.

In the distance the silhouette of forest appeared and Wei Ling was a bit relieved, it was a no go zone but whatever was in there wasn’t hunting her like her fellow humans right now. She only had a chance of survival if she enters in there.

The grass became denser and the lush forest in distance grew closer, she made it to the the forest faster than she imagined but she still didn’t slowed down not until she was sure that she deep in that forest, she poured rest of her excessive energy for the last run trying to maximize the output of her movement technique.

It was then she felt the disturbance in her surroundings the disturbance of energy, there was ambush here. Looks like the enemy wanted to capture the every last one of her clan members not letting anyone escape, to prevent future troubles but this was Wei ling herself they must not have expected her to run away from the battlefield.

She felt the movement of energy towards her at a great speed and she dodged it easily, a weak opponent it was and she was in no mood of showing mercy. An arrow containing thunder energy exploded the place she should have been if she hadn’t dodged, the perpetrator of the attack was hidden behind the trees. She could feel the Qi of the cultivator at Qi transformation stage and four others of Qi of Initial element, Wei Ling dropped Wei Tou from his embrace and pushed him towards Hannabi as she lunged towards the enemy.

This ambush was a blessing to Wei Ling, for she now had an outlet for all that suppressed anger and she was going burn them to cinders but she had to make it quick before the reinforcements arrive.
