Chapter Five
Life being what it is, where a gut feeling usually stems from the subconscious knowledge accumulated in your life, Daves prediction proved correct. The horizon was changed. Where only black met lilac an hour before a new contender had appeared..... It was hard to tell what. Just wasn’t pure black or lilac, so anything in between would be a good guess.
But as time wore on that changed too. It was definitely reddish was Daves summation.
“ It’s definitely reddish.” Dave thought aloud.
Indeed. It was. Within an hour or so the reddish was revealed to be a bright red. Less a red that can be found on something mundane like a fire hydrant and more like what you would experience if a laser hit your eye just before you went blind. What this signified was anyone’s guess.
Unlawfully taken from Royal Road, this story should be reported if seen on Amazon.
Driving within 2 miles of the light brought an entirely different change. The steadfast monolith of light absorbing granite that had been their path was coming to a definite end, seemingly disappearing into the red itself. Pulling up a few metres before that point they peered out into the unknown. And could still see fuck-all. It wasn’t a solid column as it looked from further away but now more a light haze. Making Dave think it was not the reason for the path ending. They couldn’t tell anything else without getting closer.
Hmm I’m getting a bit of a Dantes inferno vibe from this place. But nothing ventured nothing gained as I like to say. A lot. When gambling. I miss drinking already.
Grumbling they heaved themselves out. Shaking out their legs quickly as they had gone a bit sleepy from the long drive, and giving a good scratch to their forehead it only took a few cautious steps to take the edge to their feet.
Gasping from the sight unveiled before them, jaw dropped open in surprise, there was only one thing to say.
“Fuck nuggets. I didn’t bring my camera”
