Chapter 5: Meeting Lan Xiao.

Chapter 5: Meeting Lan Xiao.

Gate 11 was too far away for Wu Xing to walk so he had to use the underground transportation station. There were too many people in Haikou City, so it wasn’t viable for everyone to use transportation on the streets to move from one place to another.

The streets would be become way too congested, and accidents, and disputes would frequently occur because of this. So people from the lower ring either had to walk for the shorter distances, or use the underground transportation service for the longer distances.

It took Wu Xing 10 minutes to reach the elevator going down to the underground transportation station. The elevator took him down 200 meters which took about 60 seconds before it reached its destination. When the elevator doors opened he was greeted with a sight he just couldn’t get used to no matter how many times he saw it.

Because although everyone called this the underground transportation station, it actually looked a lot more like a giant market place. Shops were everywhere the eyes could see, and the streets were bustling with people. Enormous tunnels were coming in from every direction, the width of each tunnel was at least 30 meters, and its height was a stunning 50 meters.

The reason for this was because in the lower ring everything above ground was almost 90% used for residential properties with only %5 remaining for the beast hunting guilds, and merchant companies, and another 5% for the schools, and training facilities.

The underground however was only used for shops, and storage facilities creating a very different atmosphere compared to the world above. You could buy everything you wanted here as long as you had enough Credits.

Wu Xing headed straight to the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) Station that was headed for Gate 11. Luckily he arrived just on time as the train was just about to leave, so he quickly bought a ticket for 500 Credits, and entered the train.

After entering the train he noticed it was very crowded so he started to look around to see if he could find himself an open seat. After walking for a bit he found an open seat next two 2 ladies, so he walked to them, and asked “Hello ladies is this seat available?”

Both ladies were wearing masks which was common here because it was safer to travel that way. A lot of conflicts always started because of evil man wanting to have a beautiful woman, so it was better for the woman to disguise themselves, and hide their beauty.

Still woman cared a lot about their outer appearance so over the years their mask also started to look beautiful. The woman on the right near the window had a blue mask with a gorgeous flame pattern on it. The woman next to her on the left had a purple mask with a flowery pattern on it.

The woman on the left spoke first, and politely said “Yeah it’s free please sit down” with a charming voice. The woman on the right didn’t even look at Wu Xing, and kept staring at the information her wristband was projecting in front of her.

Wu Xing didn’t mind, and just politely replied to the woman with the purple mask “Thank you my name is Lin Xiu, nice to meet you”.

“Nice to meet you” the woman replied, not seeming to want to continue speaking with him as she turned towards her friend, and they started to discuss something.

Wu Xing knew she didn’t want to continue talking so he just started to look around, and saw the doors close. The train was leaving, and it would take roughly 15 minutes to reach their destination.

After the train arrived at the underground station near gate 11 he quickly said good bye to the 2 ladies before rushing off to look for a couple of things he needed to buy.

The girl with the flowery pattern mask was observing Wu Xing as she seemed to be thinking about something while heading out of the train, she seemed to be lost in thought for a minute before she quickly shook her head.

Wu Xing was already heading to the blacksmith shop to buy some mining equipment. When he entered he saw a lot of different pickaxes but he just bought the cheapest pickaxe for a 1000 Credits. He quickly put the pickaxe in his wristband, his wrist band was very old, and low grade so it only had a storage capacity of 10 cubic meters, but it was still enough for now.

He also bought information about a location near gate 11 were he could mine common minerals, this cost him another 1000 Credits. The information got uploaded into his wristband directly into his personal online database that was connected to his AI Nadia. She started to calculate the best route from gate 11 to the mining location.

Nadia said it would take about 2 hours to get there from gate 11, and that there were a couple of grade 1 Rock Spiders in the valley. It didn’t specifically say how many there were, but it said that there were less than a dozen. The valley was very big so the chances of meeting one was relatively small she said.

After this he still needed to buy some herb gathering tools, herb gathering information, and some empty vials, and bottles. The herb gathering tool was a special knife used for cutting herbs, and flowers it cost 1000 Credits. The information he bought was mainly about the herbs, and flowers that were most commonly seen around Gate 11, and the correct way to harvest them.

This cost him another 500 credits which was less than he expected, but this was due to there not being any specific locations, so he still had to find them on his own.

He also bought 10 empty vials and 100 bottles. 10 empty vials cost him 100 credits, and the 100 bottles cost him another 2000 credits.

The empty vials would be used to hold the poison from the beasts, and the empty bottles would be used to collect the blood of the beasts.

This novel's true home is a different platform. Support the author by finding it there.

The last place he had to visit was the inscription house, he wanted to buy information about some basic inscription diagrams, and some inscription tools used for inscribing.

Wu Xing didn’t know where to start so he asked the clerk of the shop what the best inscription pattern for beginners was.

The clerk showed him a very complicated diagram that had hundreds of lines, and intersecting points. It was simply impossible to see where the start of the diagram was, and where the end was.

The clerk told him that if he bought the diagram then the lines would be numbered so that he could see which line to start from, and which line to end with.

The price of this beginner diagram was already very high, and Wu Xing even doubted if the clerk accidently added an extra zero.

It cost a stunning 20.000 Credits, which was a lot considering that the rent of their house was also 20.000 Credits for a month. But he needed at least one diagram to practice so he could only bite his tongue as he paid the clerk. He also needed a tool for inscribing, but he was happy to hear that it only cost 500 Credits, and it could be used for a long time the clerk said.

After he walked out of the shop he couldn’t help but look at his bank account, and feel a deep pain in his heart after seeing how much he had to spend just for some basic equipment, and information.

He didn’t want to think about it anymore, and quickly closed his bank account before he headed to gate 11 to find the man called Lan Xiao.

When he arrived at the gate he asked a guard to find Lan Xiao for him, the guard was very polite, and asked Lan Xiao to come.

Wu Xing only had to wait for roughly 5 minutes before he saw a tall, and muscular old man with long hair, and a beard walk over.

The man looked around 50, and when he saw Wu Xing he smiled politely before he asked “I am Lan Xiao who might you be young man?”.

Lan Xiao knew from experience that it was better to be overly polite to a nobody then to be rude to a somebody.

Wu Xing quickly bowed and said “Hello sir my name is Lin Xiu, Night Walker told me to come find you”.

Lan Xiao was very surprised to hear the name *Night walker*, and he started to size up this young man in front of him.

He noticed that the young man in front of him emitted a strong aura, and was very calm his eyes also looked to emit some kind of strange power. His body looked fit, but not overly muscular meaning that his body not only contained strength, but also speed, and flexibility.

This young man in front of him didn’t look any older than 20 but he already extruded such strong battle aura so he couldn’t help but ask “Lin Xiu how old are you this year?”

Wu Xing calmly replied “15 years old sir”

Lan Xiao was shocked he had thought that Wu Xing was at least 18 years old, but to find out that he was only 15 years really made him speechless. *This old man Night Walker really has a good eye for talent* He silently thought.

“Good, good, come with me” he said.

“Yes sir” Wu Xing said before he followed Lan Xiao through the gates of gate 11. When Wu Xing was walking behind Lan Xiao he saw that Lan Xiao was busy with his wrist band. He kept seeing all kinds of profiles from people but he couldn’t see what they were exactly. The only thing he noticed was that all their ages were between 18 and 20 years old.

Lan Xiao finally stopped walking when they arrived at the information station outside of Gate 11. He talked to a couple of people before he looked back and asked “Wu Xing, Night Walker told me his plan so do you already have a shield, and a sword with you?”

Wu Xing was a little surprised, he was wondering why he needed a shield, and a sword but he remained calm, and said “I only have a grade 1 sword in my wristband but no shield”

Lan Xiao laughed out loud when he heard this and said “Hahaha this Night Walker never changes always so sly, and cheap. He makes a plan, but I am the one he has to take care of everything in the end.”

He grabbed a shield from a person nearby and threw it too Lan Xiao, and said “catch! This is a basic grade 2 shield used by guards it’s yours now.”

Wu Xing was again surprised as he caught the shield, and asked “Thank you sir, but what do I need a shield, and a sword for?”

Lan Xiao heard this, and he couldn’t help but smile, and say “You can just call me old man Lan, I will be in charge of our hunting squat from today. Let’s wait for the other first, and after everyone is here I will explain everything.”

Wu Xing was surprised when he heard that he was going to be a part of a *hunting squat*, but the surprise only lasted for a moment.

His grandfather always did everything for a reason so he just decided to accept the situation, and wait for the others before listening to the explanation.

It didn’t take long before he noticed 3 young man walking towards him, and Lan Xiao. The three young man all wore the same outfits, and surprising they all had ironite badges pinned on their jackets meaning they were all official grade1 hunters.

Being able to become grade1 hunters at such a young age was really amazing. Lan Xiao also noticed the three young man, and couldn’t help but let out a satisfied smile.

The three young man walked up to Lan Xiao, and they all said “good morning captain!” at the same time while they took a customary bow.
