After a couple of moments passed, the man spoke up, "You entered the gates of mist rather easily, I see. That is no easy feat so I am assuming you are a magic wielder, correct?"
"That's right." The brunette answered casually, though she did notice the suspicious glance directed at her, "I'm not here to cause trouble but I've been tasked with something important and require your assistance."
He studied her intently for a couple of seconds before speaking again, "And what sort of task requires my aid? And why should I help you?" The man tilted his head ever so slightly, clearly intrigued by the situation at hand.
Alaenor shifted uncomfortably in her chair for a brief moment, "Lady Mirana and Euphemia mentioned that you would be the most suitable candidate to teach me some magic." She replied, knowing exactly why she sought help and hoping that he wouldn't ask her why she was looking for it.
The man's eyes narrowed at her words, "And what does Lady Mirana want you to learn from me?" He questioned, leaning forward in the armchair.
"To teach me some basic magic? I recently found out about these powers and I have no control over them." Alaenor explained briefly, "I wish for you to teach me how to use these powers so I may learn what they are capable of." She admitted shyly, lowering her gaze slightly.
"I shall teach you magic, but after that, only if you intend to use it for good reason. Us sorcerers and wizards already have done enough damage to our reputation for using magic for bad reasons." The man explained carefully, "So please try not to act impulsively and to use your head first when casting spells."
Alaenor nodded in agreement. "Alright. I promise that I will keep that in mind."

The man studied her once more before nodding his head, "Very well. You may want to tell me what sort of spells have you cast before we begin and why you want to learn magic."
Alaenor cleared her throat nervously, remembering how nervous she'd gotten the moment she'd first cast a spell and how scared she was of messing it up - which lead to her not being able to use it successfully. She told the man about how she'd tried several times but they were only successful whenever she was under pressure or got herself into dangerous situations. When she was finally done telling him what she knew, he remained silent for a few moments, thinking about what to do.
Eventually, he stood and walked to the window where he looked out at the town for a while. After a long moment, he turned around to face her and said, "Alright. We may begin with learning all kinds of magic... by studying. There is a library on the top floor that may provide you with more information about them. Use it wisely." He instructed, pointing towards the staircase behind him.
"Understood," said Alaenor, her expression showing that she was excited by the prospect of learning about magic but also aware of his warning, "But can we start now?"
"Now is as good as any other time," said the man, "It is best if you study as soon as possible before the practical begins if you desire to enhance your magic."
"Of course. Please show me the way." The brunette answered gratefully, standing up from the couch.
The man smiled slightly, "Come. I will show you the way myself." The brunette nodded and hurried after him, following him upstairs, toward the library. The library was extravagant, filled with bookshelves from which shelves extended up to the ceiling with countless books piled up high upon them. Every shelf seemed to contain volumes containing ancient spells. They were mostly bound books, probably containing the older ones that only had to be read to make them useful for teaching. Other books were newer ones with a few new ones thrown in there, most likely written by mages who managed to find new magical artifacts.
While walking through the rows of shelves, Alaenor kept an eye out for some information regarding the different types of magic. If they didn't know anything else, they could surely gather a lot of useful information from reading books about different spells. Then maybe she would be able to improve her ability to cast those particular spells. She couldn't afford to waste any time.
