Royal Chapter 1: A Prince's Hate

Silfus leaned on the window gazing out from his carriage as it made its way through the Noble District, a clear expression of disgust present on his face as he watched the nobles traveling with their armies of servants, making no effort to hide their wealth founded on the misery of innocent commoners across the Empire. How he wished he could throw them out of the capital and personally feed them to the Orcs that they conveniently ignore the existence of, as they live in their paradises of debauchery and corruption.

He knew little of what the nobles debated in court, but the simple fact that the war with the Theocracy was still ongoing, told him all that he needed to know. The nobles were not focused on the well being of their people, no, they were focused on expanding their territories, expanding their wealth, and ultimately, their influence in court. But, what good would any political influence be, if, by the end of the war, there was no Empire left?

The sudden loud rattling of the carriages' wheels against the rough and decrepit stone road of the Common District, tore the prince from his brooding, as the carriage made its way down the central road of the Common District. The atmosphere underwent an observable and drastic change from the beautiful Noble District. Trash lined the sides of the road; beggars cried out to anyone passing by, with most of them going unheard and ignored. The nearby alleyways overflowed with thugs, assassins, murders, and black mages.

The sound of an auction reached his ears, voices bidding on slaves for lust, rituals and any kind of evil man can do to another; his expression darkening every time he heard "Sold!" Unable to take it anymore he opened the window and told Kace to get them out of the city as swiftly as possible.

Closing the window, he returned his gaze to the outside spotting a sight that made him want to commit murder. A young blonde, Beast-kin girl naked, her cat ears cut off, her tail stubbed, her body covered in whip markings, and a sign hanging off of her neck reading 'Five coppers per use!' indicating she was likely going to be disposed of later for being used 'goods.'

Having seen enough of the corruption he's had to deal with every time he leaves the city. He closed the curtains unwilling to look outside for fear of being unable to control himself and giving his wretched father a reason to throw him on the frontline of the war between the Empire and the Theocracy.

Minutes ticked by until he heard a knock on his window. He opened it and heard Kace telling him they'd left the city and were now on the road to Cil' Moore Pass where they would continue onto O'te Nill from there.

He gazed, as the landscape turned from flat forests to mountainous forests. Five hours after they'd left the city they stopped momentarily for lunch and to let the horses rest. When they heard howls fill the air, experience from coming out here before allowed Silfus to know they were now the targets of Vine Maned Wolves, making him unsheathe a long sword whose blade was sky blue, its body lined with similar engravings as the ones found on the onyx throne room doors within the palace.

Silfus used Sparrow's Sight allowing him to see farther and clearer, which let him spot four-leaf green wolves dashing in their direction with vines tipped with glistening points, waving from their manes as if they were conscious.

It didn't take long for them to reach him and Kace, who ran forward catching the attention of the wolves as he looked old making them think he was the weakest of the two. But they couldn't be more wrong about Kace whose level sat at sixty-four easily allowing him to take on three of the wolves, leaving the last one for Silfus to deal with.

Silfus eyed his charging opponent as he stepped to his right, dodging the leaping wolf, and cutting three of its six vines off before they could touch him. Leaving him unharmed, while the wolf was missing the vines on its left. With sufficient time Silfus used one of his skills as a Magic Swordsman, creating an ethereal, golden blade that shot away from him before the wolf could turn around, slicing it straight in half, its organs spilled out from its bisected body, and its remaining vines spasmed due to the abrupt death of the wolf.

Looking around, he watched as Kace finished the last of his wolves with clean precision using small daggers as he moved faster than the wolves could react, and stabbed them through their skulls, ending their life before they knew they had died.

"We better get moving young master Silfus, lest we draw more wolves to our presence." Silfus nodded, and they hastily continued their journey towards Cil' Moore Pass and ultimately O'te Nill Town.
