Lorelai pressed forward, her senses sharp as she navigated the winding path through the woods. The air thickened with tension, every snap of a twig felt like a blaring siren in the total silence. She recalled the sprite’s warning; dangers lurking, guardians watching. Rather than fear, an indescribable thrill surged through her, igniting her resolve.

Suddenly, a rustling came from the thicket to her right, and Lorelai instinctively spun, bringing her makeshift weapon, a sturdy branch, into a defensive posture. A guttural growl echoed through the trees, sending a chill down her spine. From the shadows emerged a monstrous wolf-like creature, its eyes glowing with malice. Lorelai's heart raced. This was no ordinary foe; it was a scourge on the forest corrupted by some unnamed magic. It was leeching the very essence of the forest. "This can't be part of the trial.."

The creature leaped from the underbrush [Dash] she narrowly avoided being sliced open by the creature. The creature lunged again, teeth bared, and Lorelai sidestepped just in time, executing a quick series of rapid thrusts with her branch. Each strike was precise, fueled by her adrenaline. She could see the impact of each blow on the wolf's pelt, but felt next to no damage was actually dealt. "Damnit I need a proper weapon!" She complained, the wolf snarling in fury.

“Come on, Lorelai!” she urged herself. She dashed forward, channeling her speed into a powerful strike aimed at the creature's flank. The wolf recoiled but quickly countered, snapping its jaws dangerously close to her. Lorelai barely avoided the attack, rolling to the side and springing back up. “Time to improvise” she shouted defiantly, she tried to apply [lightning clad] to her makeshift weapon, the resulting explosion of splinters nearly causing her to be out of commission as blood dripped from several wounds. "Ok that was a failure, now what?" She thought, utilizing the weight manipulation skill she had recently acquired, she made herself much lighter and jumped high into a tree giving herself a minute to catch her breath.

[Lightning Clad] activated, she felt the crackling energy enveloped her legs and arms as she dropped a heavy axe kick onto the beast's back, the wolf let out a pained whine as she finally felt she dealt a noticeable amount of damage. The creature had trouble moving, lightning arched through its fur periodically, realizing the beast was suffering from the paralysis effect she seized the opportunity. Lorelai charged forward, her heart pounding as she unleashed a flurry of strikes with both her arms and legs, each strike landed true, fueled by the crimson lightning that crackled around her. The creature howling as she struck, energy coursing through it. She gathered amplified the energy going into her legs, preparing for a decisive blow and with a final surge of power crushed the beasts skull underfoot.

Panting, Lorelai stood over her fallen foe, her heart racing from the adrenaline and victory. The forest around her began to hum with energy, the oppressive silence lifting like a fog. Once the sound of her beating heart subsided, she noticed another presence in the glade; one of slender form, graceful and feline. It was a woodland guardian, resembling a blend between a cat and an owl, its fur dappled like sunlight filtering through leaves.

“Status bearer,” it spoke, its voice rang with an otherworldly authority. “I thank you for purging the evil that was plaguing our forest. Now that you have vanquished your foe what do you plan to do now?”

“I’m on my way to Miraculum Academy,” Lorelai said, trying to sound steady despite her racing heart. “I want to use my powers and learn how to use them properly.”

The guardian's eyes narrowed, assessing her. “You have done well, Lorelai,” it said, stepping closer. “You have faced the darkness and emerged victorious. This forest is grateful. You bear a hidden class, I see. Martial Force, yes? The forest will remember your presence, and a reward will be given for defending our land from the scourge.”

“What do you mean?” Lorelai asked, the guardian didn't respond, a soft glow of magic encompassed Lorelai healing any wound she had. She closed her eyes to bask in the warmth of the magic, and when she opened her eyes, a leather set of armor, with black wolf fur coating the greeves, shoulders, and bracers. Now that she took a look at herself, the shrapnel from the branch shredded a good portion of her clothes, this armor was a welcomed reward indeed.

"Thank you for your kindness," she said to the guardian as she began to don the armor.

"Many seek power without understanding its consequences,” with a look of respect shining in its eyes the guardian continued, “stay true to yourself and don't be swayed by the fast route. Power is essential, but there are no such things as shortcuts."

Before Lorelai could ask the guardian what he meant, the guardian had vanished. A renewed sense of foreboding wormed its way into her thoughts, was that a warning to not be corrupted by my newfound power? Lorelai rose, ready to continue on to the academy. As she stepped back onto the path, the forest felt different; more alive, almost as if it was acknowledging her victory. The leaves shimmered in the sunlight, vibrant colors unfurling around her. Each step echoed with the sound of renewal, the air rich with the scent of damp earth and blooming wildflowers. Lorelai’s heart swelled with a sense of purpose.

As she walked, the rustle of leaves and the distant call of birds created a symphony that accompanied her thoughts. Lorelai paused at a stream, the water sparkling like diamonds in the sun. She knelt beside it, cupping her hands to drink. As she looked into the water, her hand placed on the center of her chest she wondered why her abilities were sealed. She had just been so happy for everything to work out that she hadn't given anything else much thought. What she once thought was birthmark in the center of her chest she noticed had disappeared while she was changing into the armor, was that the seal? Who would do it and why? She added that to her list of things for the academy.
