(The scene of Shizi waking up in chapters 6-7 from Shizi’s perspective)
I came into this cave running and passed out wounded and bloody. Now I’m awake wounds mended and treated, and sitting with this strange fox. I tried to meditate and rotate my Qi around my body, but it moved slowly. When it moved over the wounds I discovered a cold Qi. It was of yin type, though not strong, it clearly is the cause of the healed wounds.
When I awoke the fox was just coming back with a kill. In my dazed state, I for some reason greeted it. Soon after the dazed state cleared away I realized my mistake and laughed bitterly in my head.
I tried to meditate but my empty stomach kept stopping me. After all, who knows how long I’ve been out. My stomach rumbled loud enough to for the fox to hear. I asked if I could have some of its kill and for some reason it allowed me to. Strange but not uncommon for some demonic beast to submit to stronger cultivators. I put it to the back of my mind as I waited for the fox to stop eating.
It ate almost both legs before I got some. The rabbit wasn’t too big but for a starving man, the portion was good enough. Just when I was about to start a fire the fox started to meditate. A small amount of its arua flowed out. At first, I noticed it was of the yin type but I ignored it. I wasn’t until a little later did I realized that it was the same Qi that healed my wounds. When I did finally realize it was like a thunderbolt struck in my mind.

I was dumbfounded and for some reason blurted out a question I already knew the answer too. The fox nodded though and getting a direct reply completely shocked me. I didn’t say anything or move for a period of time.
This went against all things I knew about demonic beast. I’ve heard legends about demonic beast that have consciousness at very low levels, but to the level that they save a half-dead cultivator is few and far in-between. These demonic beasts usually go to the ends of the cultivation world and grow immensely powerful.
If I could bring him back to the clan and allow him to grow than maybe they’ll have another sacred protector. I don’t know of his level yet though. So I have to run a few small tests. If my guess is correct this is no ordinary fox and I just came across a treasure.
With a small smile pulling at my lips I ate the rest of the rabbit quickly, and with a satisfied stomach, I sink into meditation to finish the healing of my wounds.
