The following morning was ceremonious to Trinity's partner acquisition, the whole floor was decorated with gold and white, banners reading “Congratulations!”. Trin was super excited and we spent the day eating food and introducing me to the family. Until roughly lunch time, I had made friends with one of her cousins Trevor. He was really interested in cars and other automobiles, and since yesterday I was really interested in them as well. He was giving me basic run downs on how they move, and operate and I started to realize that I’m no longer thinking about surviving, but what my future holds. The atmosphere is lax, but excited everyone seems to be waiting for the inevitable power up, it was quite the show I was told, and apparently it should trigger any minute now…Suddenly across the table, Trinity drops her plate of food and her eyes glow pure white, gasps around the table and I start to freak out, rushing towards her. I’m suddenly stopped by someone pulling on my arm, turning my head to see her father.
“Calm down my boy, she’s awakening.” I stop moving back to look back at her, she's hovering a distance off the ground, air is throwing plates and cutlery around the table at high speeds, the wind howling in my ear, the father yells out to me again. “You must be really something! You don’t see it but she's really exerting some power!”, I don’t know what he means by not seeing it, it's filling up the entire room…I can feel its presence in everything. The wind ensures for a few seconds longer before everything suddenly drops, plates smash and with a loud thud, Trin hits the ground. Immediately running to her aid, her parents help her up. “Are you ok?” Trin nods, she looks dazed. Standing up with her parents still supporting her, she regains her balance and they let go, she blinks a couple times steadying herself. Then she smiles widely, “I feel so powerful!” She runs up to me hugging me suddenly, I gasp, surprised as she hugs me really tight. I can't even breathe, she really did get stronger. Letting go of me, I catch my breath. Did she break my ribs? I feel winded. The other family members are cleaning up some of the stuff and her parents have left the room, “Where are they going?” I ask Trin, who had already gone to hug more of her family, all of which look bewildered by her strength. Just as I say it they reenter the room with a small metal cylinder with a metal rectangle sticking out of it. I recognize the little device as a Spirit Scanner, “Let's see how strong you really are then!” Her dad bellows grabbing Trins attention, and she walks up to him the room falling silent. Trinity turns around exposing her neck, he puts the end of the rectangular piece to her neck and presses a button and a loud beeping sound is heard. I whisper to Trevor who is staring intently at Trins father, how the machine works, as I had used one before but they just gave us the results much later. “So basically the mass of most people's spirit power resides in the nervous system of the body, and the device scans exactly onto the connection to the brain and outputs the data onto whatever you want.” He says pointing as the father plugs the device into a T.V on the wall of the room and the display lights up suddenly, detailing what seemed to be Trins old power levels.
Trinity Virtus:
Spirit: Virtus
Powers:
Virtuses Compananion -
Super Strength
Super Endurance
Super Stamina
Companions gauge
Innate bravery
Super Speed
Super Reaction speed
Spirit Rating: 450
Spirit Power: 675
Spirit power over 600? The whole room starts cheering, Trin gets a massive hug from her parents, and they pull me in with them, “Redo! Redo! That's the highest yet!, This is a new record, I knew you were the one!” I was surprised, Trin is reigning just below Jason in power as a new powerhouse. She's not one to mess around with, we could actually do it. We could set me free from Jason's sadistic games. The rest of the day was spent partying, I had never enjoyed myself so much, apparently we would have a lot of paperwork to do as we were the official highest Virtus companion set to exist so far. Even the first official Virtus companion was a power level of 500, which makes sense as I’m not actually the Virtus companion and the real one is out there somewhere but that's not in my control so there's nothing to worry about. Later in the day, we were shown to a new section of the house with a built in training facility. So whilst I was watching Trin practise on the machinery, we were notified that I was transferred to Trins class. I need to come up with a plan, the next day we have school. I need to make sure that I'm with Trin all day so we can show him I’m not to be messed with, because of Virtuses secret they don’t closely relate themselves with the other top 1000 families so Jason won’t know about it. All we need to do is show off a little and push his agro onto someone else. My only worry is that Trinitys sense of justice will push her to defend everyone Jason attacks. In which case things might escalate to far, and she's not stronger than Jason in her current state. After thanking her Dad, Trin goes back to training, absolutely demolishing all the physical records that they had ready for her, but Whilst shes doing this I notice the Spirit Scanner on the chair and I start feeling curious, grabbing it quickly, I pull out the mobile phone I was given as one of the gifts given by a relative, and put the end of the scanner to my neck. I need to be discreet about this as If I get caught I wouldn’t have a very good excuse to explain it If I had any strange numbers.

I cover the speaker holes and press the same button I saw Trins dad press, I can still hear a muffled beep but looking around no one seems to notice, plugging it into the bottom of the phone a notification about a file pops up. Tapping on it, a panel opens up reading just like Trinitys.

Spirit Power: N/A (Substitute value: 1)
These results are insane, the power I wield is unheard of, I might even scale with the top 100 in stats alone. Not only that, but fortune seems to be on my side, for some strange reason the spirit power isn’t reading correctly and is outputting a value of one. The only way someone could see the malfunction is if they are using high end scanners like the one in my hand. That shouldn’t be a problem as the school doesn’t have any reason to use a higher end scanner on me, or even scan me at all. I put down the scanner, and peek around the corner where Trin has a personal trainer doing a physical analysis, as they come into view I hear what sounds like an explosion. The personal trainer is standing there panicked as Trin stands straight recoiling from a punch, and against the wall opposite her, the wall itself looks rather thick, and is at least 8m high, there's a crack and a punching bag laying ripped on the floor. I’ve really given her a boost, but I wonder why she didn’t get all my power. If what I scanned is correct she should have almost 100x the punching force. Her results still shouldn’t be scoffed at. Her goal is to dethrone Jason, who can pack a punch but relies heavily on speed and the insane energy he can output. The trainer walks over to the wall and points at the crack, mouthing something I can’t tell through the glass. Trin nods and spots me out of the corner of her eye, she smirks confidently, walks up to the wall changing her footing, she swings her body in an arc, her foot connecting with the center of the crack. With a humongous smash the impact feels almost delayed as the walls split apart crumbling. She laughs triumphantly before a large cement piece falls out of place landing directly on her head breaking apart she doesn’t even budge. The trainer begins running away as the whole wall crumbles to the ground. I look in awe and confusion as the dust settles, Trins smile never fades standing there confidently. Covered in debris and cement dust, the trainer exits through a glass door coughing and spluttering, she falls to her knees, she looks up to see me unfazed.
“Is she always like this?” realizing I should be more surprised at her actions. “Uh yeah, I was so stunned I didn’t know how to react!” I feign surprise, I need to get better at this. It seems to be good enough as the trainer stands up patting herself down. She extends her hand, “Anyway, I forgot to properly introduce myself when I arrived. My name is Sarah, I’ll be seeing you more often as I teach Trinity how to more acutely control her new found strength, but this is ridiculous.” she greets herself to me, still looking through the window I see Trinity starts walking over. I reach out and shake Sarah's hand, “Yeah I’m Redo, looking forward to working with you.”
She smiles and my heart races, she's really pretty. Blonde hair, blue eyes, and she's obviously a lot older than me. Why am I thinking like this? These feelings are so new to me. Letting go of my hand Trinity walks through the glass door, still smiling broadly. I raised my hands to block the dust which is now flooding out of the door. Sarah walks up to her raising her hand for a high five “Nice job Trinity!” Trinity slaps her hand, her arm swings back behind her with a snap. She starts screaming, my eyes widened. Panic ensues as Trin yells out for medical help. Security guards come running in escorting Sarah out, whose arm is twisted in an unnatural angle behind her back. Biting back the pain, she tells Trin not to worry, as she leaves the door. I was not expecting that, maybe Trinity doesn’t have as much control as she thinks. She runs over to me, tears in her eyes.
“I really didn’t mean to Redo, I really didn’t” She collapses onto me, dust falls over my clothes and she hugs me again. “Do you think she’ll be ok?”. I pat her back awkwardly, “I'm sure she will be!” I smile half heartedly, I can’t seem to dedicate myself to a full smile after seeing the state of her arm. Pushing her away a little she slumps off of me as guards escort us out, we are told to wait outside the facility. Trin sobs quietly, what a dramatic turn of events. I guess no matter how much happiness you encounter, tragedy will always find a way to best whatever joy we are feeling. 6 hours of happiness can all be ruined in 4 seconds. I laugh a little, unknowingly as a thought crosses my mind. This must be the fate that is awaiting me.
“What's so funny?” Trinity asks through her sobs. “Nothing…Its nothing I had just come to a realization.”, She looks at me, her teary eyes have stopped, just sniffles.
We waited there for an hour, and the sun was beginning to set. I didn't even know what we were waiting for, until later on when a familiar black car pulled up to the front gate. Followed by a familiar looking man jumping out of said car running towards us. Trinity stands up, “DADDY!!” She screams, I wince at the volume. Trinity starts running towards him and they embrace, worries and concerns as Trin starts crying again. So I start walking over to them, at this point I’m basically invisible to them as I follow them inside, but that’s fine. I’m not her father, I don’t need to be the one to support her. She's walked back to her floor where her mother is waiting. Is this really that necessary? So many people are coming to her aid. She wasn’t even injured. I can’t imagine Sarah is getting this much support. Whilst I was lost in thought Trinity had gone back to her room.
“She’s going to bed, This has been really traumatic for her, I suggest you get some shut eye as well.” Walking past me, their empathetic faces were already gone. This is the high life. I could waste my time worrying about how her parents are manipulating her daughter, but who am I to judge? Their daughter is the most powerful heiress they’ve seen in their family of course they are gonna continue to suck up. I mean I’m doing the same thing, even I'm not dense enough to ignore that. The bed feels colder than usual. Still warmer than the rotten mattress at the apartment. All good things must come to an end.
