Chapter 8
Leaving the secret rooms, I see my servants coming back with more dead bodies, they have more than normally, because having 2 carts to transport them. Wherever they got the new one from, I don’t care…
They unload the dead bodies in front of the graveyard gate, and leave to get more bodies.
I begin absorbing the bodies, and with the gained mana I build more houses, so my new servants can live with me. It’s much more easier than the first time, because I simply use the building plans, I used for my other houses. All my ‘servant quarters’ are on the sides of the way that is coming from the town and going up to the graveyard, the 3 houses I build yesterday are on one side, the forge and the houses I’m currently building are on the other...
When I finished the houses, a message pops up
building houses for your servants got you enough experience to level up, you can check your status to get more information, but I already explained the things to you, so don't expect to much. hope you remember at least a bit
Isn’t the system a bit unfriendly? Well, doesn’t matter, let’s check, which skill I can upgrade later on…
Because I have new servants I need a higher food production, and because I have a few remaining dead guys lying at the front of my gate, I begin building some fields, so they don’t have to worry about food, and can work for me the whole day. The fields are made using the permaculture idea, and thanks to the hilly area, I make the fields on different heights, using stone walls. So thanks to the earth that is filled up to the high of the walls, I gain a bit of place, that can grow food. Not that I don’t have enough place, it’s just, that I want to use the place I have to the best extend.
After finishing that, my servants come back, with new dead bodies, unload them and go to get new ones.
Around the fields I make around two and a half meter high stone walls, and because I build a walkway on the side towards the fields, We can use the walls in case of an emergency to defend our homes.
Because of these new structure, maybe some thieves from the town might come, better build a few watchtowers, so my servants can oversee the area…
The Watchtowers were built on top of the stone walls. I use the walls as a foundation for them, while extending the tower foundation about half a meter to the outside . On top of that, I build stone layer over stone layer, till the ‘tower was about 2.5 meters taller than the original wall. Of course I build it so, that you can go under the defensive platform, to reach the other side of the wall. Then I make a stone wall on the outsides of the the construction, that goes up to the hip, so while fighting from the top of the tower, you can duck behind them. At the 4 corners of the stone construction, I place a wooden beam each, so they can carry the roof made with clay bricks. My servants should not get a cold while keeping watch. To get onto the towers, you have to firstly climb the stairs that lead onto the walls, then you go to the ladder, that is leading onto the watchtowers.
Finally done, I have no more bodies remaining, so let’s have a look at my skill

What, wait, my skills also got a set back? Well, should be expected...
And because I only have one skill point, so let’s invest it into building. I think I need to build really much in the near future, any help I get for that is welcome.
My servants come back, and gawk at the fields that are surrounding their homes, well, maybe not, rather they inspect the defensive structures I made. They seem to be really impressed, now that I think about it, the town in itself does not have a wall, or defensive measures like that…
After they had unloaded the dead bodies, they inspected the walls and tower more detailed, so I had some time with Gerad.
“My Lord, that is an impressive structure you build there, but I think it will gather the attention of the locals, and maybe even the nobles. They do not have the money, to build an fortress, but they may have the resources to conquer it…”
I see, so the walls and towers make this settlement a goal to conquer, instead of scaring off the thieves.
Stolen novel; please report.
“Do you think, that we can guard and defend the walls in case of an attack?” I don’t want to loose this settlement just because it has a few walls.
“Only with our 12 men, that would be impossible, even when the blacksmith and I help them we will not be able to defend a structure this large, but you as a Dungeon, you should have the ability to summon monsters to serve you, depending on what kind of dungeon you are, the monsters will differ thou.” Ohh, thats important information, so maybe I can summon some undeads to guard the walls…
What kind of undead do you want to summon ?undead farmerHe died while caring for his crops, if you summon him, he will continue caring for the fieldsundead warriorhe died while fighting, if you summon him he will loyally fight for your sideundead dogit died while waiting for it’s owner to come back, if you summon it, you have to cuddle it so it’s loyalty goes to you
poor dog....
But I seem to be able to summon an undead farmer, means he can work, without getting ill or tired? That’s awesome, but at the moment I don’t have enough mana to joke around, I have to expand my territory and help my servants. But firstly I have to secure the walls, so “summon undead warrior” and please as many as possible…
Black fog comes from the ground in front of me, and about 40 skeletons suddenly stand in front of me, because I had 10 mana that means I can summon 4 skeletons with only 1 mana. But that is also an indicator for the warriors maybe not being the best fighters ...
I order them to take position on the walls and towers, and without any resistance they do what they were ordered to do.
My servants come back while I absorb the new dead bodies, then suddenly
You have gained a new skill through absorbing a guardguardingwith this skill, you are always aware of your surroundings.
With that, I can feel the outside of my dungeon territory, nearly as clear as the insides, of course the farther the things are away, the less I’m able to feel their presence. But I can clearly feel into the beginnings of the slums. which means I’m able to defend my territory better against thieves…
My servants are kneeling before me, and at that moment, I notice that my new 6 servants don’t have any kind of armor…
Of course, I have to make them armor, or else who knows what can kill them
I make them the same chain mail armor I made for my other servants, and the moment they put on their armors, I get a new message.
Due to you making armor for your servants, you have gained enough experience to level up.
nice, another level up, means I can upgrade the ‘make treasure’ skill again, which I of course directly do.
After giving my servants the order to bring more dead bodies to me, an idea stucks me. Why not making undeads, that get the dead bodies from the city entrance, with that I could get dead bodies without any delay even in the night…
But I would have to make some sort of collection spot, so everyone brings the dead there, instead of taking them wherever they take them at the moment…
With that idea I absorb the dead bodies, and begin expanding my territory, till I’m in front of the town's entrance, well you could call it an entrance, but it was more like the beginning of the first shacks. If you can call them so, because I don’t know how they even maintain this standing position, regarding the things they are made of, they should crumble because of the soft wind alone…
with these thoughts, I see my men coming back, maybe I should ask them, if they can make contact with whoever is ‘living’ here -if you can even call it that- and try to get them serving under me…
