Chapter 31: Returned.

Echoes of a cataclysm resounded from under the ground. The earth and the reality itself were scarred by powers unnatural and uncontained. Gashes in reality crossed the surface of the sewers. Bottomless black chasms peeked into reality with hunger and thirst unquenchable.

Two beings clashed in a contest for survival. One, the offspring of the deep sea and of the earth down below, clad in armor born of shining granite and coarse metal. The lost son of the sea.

The other one, an abomination, born of despair and infinite hunger and thirst for violence. Motivated by the pure craving for destruction. Guided by the Hollow, by the End. The abandoned child.

Their field of battle crumbled under their might, no walls stood in their way, and not a thing could oppose their might. One, drained of his own power, channeling the might of his realm to stop the calamity.

The other one is the avatar of the ultimate predator, overtaken by an inhuman will to consume, to destroy. He yearned for more, more, more, more and more.

Walls that witnessed eons could not handle the passing moments of their presence, shattering to dust and ash as they passed by.

Air screamed in empty ripples as they exchanged blows.

It yelled for mercy.

It begged.

They left nothing but devastation and ruin behind. Gashes after claws and craters after punches signaled their passing. Pires of shredded flesh and skin formed mounds of distorted memories in reality. Fleeting with every pulse calling them to join the great nothing,

In the collapsed Deep Throat leading to the stomach, the two bombarded each other with powers beyond the comprehension of the mortal mind. The Crab Man commanded the land, calling upon its powers to pierce, smash, and corner the monster that his friend had become.

The monster itself rejoiced in the slaughter that stripped its flesh of its bones. It reveled in the destruction it brought. He allowed the Empty to consume, to reclaim what was taken.

HE ROARED

Using tens of telekinetic constructs, as if a herd of spiders crossing the plane of the sewers he traveled across the terrain unabated by obstacles. Constructs of twisted will pierced and hooked into the walls in pursuit of the covering being that dared to challenge it and not cower under its eyeless gaze.

The tale has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.

As tens of mineral-infused pikes impaled its body, it reveled in the pure joy of its purpose. With every beat, every breath of its heart it spread its foul influence.

An anathema to existence itself.

Just as the crab man collapsed another tunnel upon the thing, he could feel the energies surrounding him trash and rebel. It once again escaped the stone coffin he made, but much slower this time.

It seemed confused, and unsteady on its feet. As it left the stone, he cast another Gravity Press on it, magnifying its weight so much that it sunk to its knees in the rock. It waddled through it like through snow, but it got slower and slower with each step.

Monsoon was at his wit's end. He pumped enough paralytic poison and neurotoxins into him to replace his blood and still have some extra. He clamped, crashed, slashed, drowned him in stone, and did magic that exceeded what even he thought was possible of himself.

This used to be Normal was a monster, in the true meaning of this word. He shrugged off impalement. He exchanged blows even when he couldn’t block the counter, even when his blow would barely leave a scratch and he himself would get folded by the damage. It was all simply insane.

His pupils body was in tatters. There was more muscle and bones visible than skin. The Heart Pumped so hard it shook the halls with every beat, scorched them in waves of flares that ignited air.

That damned sword, an improvised trinket turned out to be the stuff of nightmares. Monsoon felt throbbing in the 3 limbs he lost of his crab half and Cold Burns in all the gashes that were on his body.

His armor was in tatters. His domain was crumbling. He couldn’t hold on much longer.

Something was changing though.

Just as the Void Spawn closed enough to be in his reach, with gravity crushing its insides to a pulp. It looked up at him. Something…changed in the air. As if a facet was plugged and the overspill of Void slowed down. His pupil looked up at him with his eyeless face and…

Extinguished.

The Void was cut off, and the ribs around the Heart elongated and sealed it in. The Cowl lost its depth.

He crumpled under the power of the earth and sunk down like a stone tossed into a lake.

Barely managing to stop the spell before Luke's brain and lungs squeezed through his nose, he stood above his unconscious pupils' body. Gazing at it, not knowing how to proceed.

Seemed kind of anticlimactic. And what about that little sprite thing?

Rebuilding his armor and wards, he waited for a change, for something to start the carnage again.

He waited.

And waited.

And nothing.

His pupil was still unmoving, massacred beyond belief yet still barely breathing, his chest rising. Peeled like a potato.

He dropped his claws and stumbled towards him. Without 3 of his legs, it was hard to balance, he tilted while walking.

As he towered above him, he wondered.

*Should I end him now? He already showed his potential for utter destruction…*

His claws clicked and clacked as he swayed between mercy and death.

“Ehhhh, I can’t.” He said to himself.

He retrieved a Stasis Emergency Stone, a costly item meant only for the most dire of cases.

Seeing as his pupils' insides were sprawled on the outside of his body, he decided this was one of those cases.

He cast it at him, the item straining to punch through the Void interference but managing to cage the unconscious Luke in stasis.

He disappeared.

Bending over to grab the Amulet, he wondered what should he do now.

The crash of collapsing tunnels brought him back to reality.

He turned around and walked towards the exit of the now, almost nonexistent part of his Sewers.

He had to organize some help and prepare for the backlash this would cause.

It is a risk, but using him, he may still get his revenge on those cursed titans and those from Above.

So much work.

So much work.
