I spent close to a day hunting helpless monsters that meant me no harm at all. Having grown tired of the massacre I caused, I had decided to head back early on.
Like any good overpowered main character, I had already mastered a teleportation spell. There was however, no harm in taking my time to return on foot. I was still having fun admiring the scenery and picking up all sort of mushrooms.
It was on my way back that I first swore to never trust the words of others.
I was taken in awe, just standing there, admiring the majestic presence of the golden dragon before me. It was, however, not very impressed with me intruding on its territory and was very ready to teach me a lesson on how OP I was.
All the textbooks I have read so far, even the teachers at the advanced magic school, underlined the same single fact: The highest level of magic was the seventh tier. They never mentioned if this applied only to us humans. It could also be that they forgot to send a copy of those books to the dragon race.
From its single fire breath attack, I could tell he knew not of the seventh tier spell limit I had limited myself to. My sixth tier magic shield in which I held so much pride, was shattered instantly under the heat of the dragons flame.
It was under such unfortunate circumstances that I began my third life.
As I died I thought back on all the precious spells I learned, of everyone that I could never cast again. I liked my second life, I liked being a magician, alas it was all over now.

Before I knew it, I came to feel the same sensation as when I died for the first time, I knew I was being reborn once more. Third time the chance, they always say.
I tried to open my eyes, only to find I had none. I also failed to move my nonexistent limbs. I was able to feel the warmth on top of me and the embrace of the stones below me. I could also make out the touch of the gentle breath. In an environment where I could neither see, hear nor move, I was able to find peace.
I felt quite lucky on the surprise discovery of the mana pool from my second life. I could only assume that since the mana was the power of a soul, it was not strange that it followed me after my unfortunate encounter with a golden dragon. I wonder if I died because I thought it to be cute.
I was also very thankful to be able to cast my spells without an incantation, the missing mouth would have hindered my magical abilities otherwise.
The first spell I cast, was an easy fourth tier spell, I leaned only in a case of finding myself inside a dark cave without a torch. It could also be very useful should I be blinded. This simple spell was used to perceive my surroundings without having to use my eyes.
I was glad of having spent the ten seconds to learn it.
I cast it without a second thought, but was not prepared what would it would reveal.
