As I opened my eyes, I saw a puzzling situation. Something that should've left me surprised, however, I was less than amused as I had grown used to such situations.
"Is it one of 'those' dreams again?" Looking toward my legs, my expression remained unfazed.
Ever since that 'incident', I had such dreams every now and then, realistic dreams like this were actually quite common for me. Moreover, I also suffered from phantom limb syndrome, so it truly felt like a cruel joke.
"So this time's a xianxia one," Looking at My clothes, I found that they looked like the ones you see in Chinese historical drama, "What was it called again... A hanfu?"
Looking at the rocky cave with some bare-bone furnishing, I decided to explore the dream a bit, "Huh?" As I tried to get up, I tripped over the hem of my long robes and headed toward the floor of the cave engaging in a rather passionate kiss with it.
"Urgh!" rubbing my reddened nose, I groaned in pain, "It hurts?" My expression soon changed from anger to bafflement.
"Ah, but it doesn't hurt that much... then is it just a dream?" Soon my gaze fell upon a rusty old dagger with a worn wooden handle, Reaching out to it, I held the dagger in my hand.
"It's just a dream, nothing to be worried about..." I muttered to myself as I pointed the dagger toward my leg, bringing it down while biting my lip.
"Ah! fucking hurts!" It hurt quite a bit, and blood began to flow out of the wound, though not as much as I expected.
Soon, Tears welled up in my eyes as I stared at my lower body in disbelief.
"Huh? What? How?" I stammered, struggling to comprehend the impossible. "I-I... I... can..."
Tears began to form in my eyes as I looked at my wounded bottom half.
Tears of joy began to trickle down my cheeks as I looked at my legs. "M-My legs!" I exclaimed, my voice breaking with emotion. The sheer wonder of being able to move my legs again, not in a dream but in reality overwhelmed me.
"I... I can walk... I can walk!" I cried out in exhilaration, my laughter turning into wild, manic dancing as I leaped around like a jubilant lunatic.
"Hahahahaha- Argh!" My ecstatic dance was abruptly interrupted by an agonizing sensation. It felt as if someone were stir-frying my brain, or as though my most sensitive regions had been struck by a metal bat. The searing pain was limited to my head, yet it was unlike anything I had ever experienced – a surreal, fiery torture that couldn't be described.
"Aaaaargh!!" I screamed in anguish before succumbing to unconsciousness, my mind assaulted by a flood of new memories.

"Yawn... Sigh, why do I feel so tired today..." I mumbled as I sat up on my bed. I couldn't quite understand the source of my exhaustion.
"Hm... Lei Qiang, did you do what I asked of you?" I inquired, remembering of my last conversation with Lei Qiang.
"Yes, young master," Lei Qiang replied dutifully, handing me a jade slip containing information.
Love what you're reading? Discover and support the author on the platform they originally published on.
"Mhm," I acknowledged her with a nod before turning my attention to the contents of the jade slip. The sheer volume of information it contained was overwhelming, the likely cause of which was my vague instructions.
An hour passed as I delved into the intricate details, sighing and occasionally rubbing my forehead in response to the deluge of information.
"Hah... That was a lot of information..." I sighed, realizing that only a fraction of it was truly useful.
"Hmm... well, let's see..." I muttered to myself, embarking on the arduous task of sorting through the wealth of data.
"First, there's this Xin Guang from a branch family, the one who got face-slapped by Lil Dong... He seems to have decent talent with his heavenly fire spirit roots..."
My fingers scratched my chin as I closed my eyes in contemplation, as though stroking an imaginary beard. "The next two individuals... I will leave them for the future. I must create a scenario where they will naturally fall into my grasp," I decided, shrewdly strategizing.
"Which leaves... this girl..." I finally came to a halt, frowning as I considered the intriguing case of Mo Suyin.
"Mo Suyin, a girl with quad spiritual roots who is 14 years old... Something you wouldn't find in the Profound Heavens sect at all, except for the servant disciples..." I read aloud from the jade slip.
Her backstory was presented before me – the daughter of two inner elders who went missing while on a perilous mission for the sect. Despite her tragic circumstances, the sect had granted her a mid-tier cultivation abode in honor of her parents' sacrifice.
"Alas, it obviously didn't work out well," I mused as I continued reading. "Her relatives stole her inherited wealth, and she couldn't advance beyond the first level of qi condensation."
Pondering over the information before me, I speculated, "Since she doesn't have pentad roots, the fact that she can't raise her cultivation at all means there's some additional factor related to this..."
I considered various possibilities, from mutations in her spiritual roots to a mysterious condition, or even the presence of a poison or disease.
"Meh, I'll just take a look for myself," I decided, intrigued by the girl's predicament.
"Lei Qiang, can you invite Xin Guang and Mo Suyin to visit me tomorrow?" I instructed my loyal aide.
"Yes, young master," Lei Qiang responded with a bow before departing to carry out my orders.
As I contemplated Mo Suyin's situation, a nagging thought crossed my mind. 'Perhaps this Mo Suyin is a heavenblessed... But seeing her current situation... she doesn't seem like someone with great fortune. However, considering the fact that the sect is most likely being targeted by the heavens, she might very well be a seed for heaven's plan...'
With these ponderings in mind, I decided to focus on cultivating for the time being, leaving the mysteries of the future to unfold in due course.
'Well, I'll find out the truth tomorrow, for now, I'll just cultivate.'
'I leave the future's troubles to my future self.'

Suddenly, my eyes shot open, and I woke up with a splitting headache. I realized I had fallen asleep on the floor, and my body was clad in traditional Chinese clothing.
"What the? cosplay? Wait... was that not a dream?!" I questioned, my mind grappling with the surreal nature of my current situation.
I hurriedly touched and tested my legs and was overjoyed to find that they indeed moved. Tears welled up in my eyes as I hugged my legs, resting my head on my knees as I sobbed with relief and gratitude.
Finally regaining my composure, I began to assess my situation. "It seems I have transmigrated to a new world, and the name of the body I have possessed is Zhou Tiandi."
"Sigh, it's as if I am in a novel..." I chuckled wryly, reflecting on the countless isekai stories I had consumed in my previous life.
"As for my death... Hmm... I think I died due to a truck... I can't remember clearly." The details of my previous life felt hazy, but I couldn't dwell on them now.
I am glad to have another chance, but... why did I have to transmigrate into a xianxia world?"
I only got into reading Xianxia novels recently, however, even I knew that this world was a minefield! Thinking about all of the murder hobo protagonists, assassin/doctor/actress Mary Sue protagonists that appeared in the trashy xianxia novels I used to read, my head began to hurt.
"Wait a second... Could it be... Am I the protagonist? Yeah as a transmigrator I must have a golden finger at least right?."
Finally, gaining a bit of hope I stood up and prepared to perform the customary ritual known to all transmigrators and reincarnators.
"System!!"
I fervently shouted various phrases, hoping to trigger any potential system or status screens.
...
...
...
"Then... how about... status!! Open Sesame!! Avada Kedavra!! PRAISE THE SUN!!..."
"Haa... haa..." Finally having gotten tired of yelling some crazy stuff, I finally came to a very judicious, insightful, and intellectual conclusion.
"I'm F*cked!"
