A giant, blond woman wearing silk robes held me in her arms with a loving gaze.
Ahh how nice…
“You’re the luckiest thing to happen to me, so i’ll call you Lucky” She beamed sweetly.
Again? Well I guess I shouldn’t be surprised.
I don’t know if I would consider it lucky or just coincidental, but here I am, Lucky Bertrand, reborn with the same name.
Well, I don’t know my last name yet, but logic would dictate…
See, one time I ate a blue rock I found on the ground- no listen I was like 4 years old okay!
Moving on, ever since that day i’ve had the devils luck, from guessing an entire maths test, spinning the rarest characters on gachas, to literally picking up winning lottery tickets.
Also my birth name was actually Norman. Yes, of course i’m going to change my legal name from that.
I wonder if they have magic in this world?
Currently i’m in a luxurious looking room, being cradled on a queen-sized bed with several maids watching against the wall.
I guess I was born into quite a wealthy family…
The blond woman points her finger upwards and a ball of light flies around before my eyes.
I flail at it and find that it fades right through my infantile hands
“Gooh!”
So it’s the typical fantasy isekai setting huh.
I wonder what this great power that shady god promised me is… it can’t be better than my superhuman luck anyway.
Hahh. I look out the window to my side, which, given my height, amounts to a small slit of the blue sky accompanied by a legion of fighter jets… Wait, huh??
“Wahh!”
The maids deftly hide their excited expressions.
Ah, how embarrassing…
“So lively~” the blond woman responded adoringly.
She carried me closer to the window.
The cityscape is undoubtedly medieval, albeit with some fantasy elements: stone spires, mammoth-looking creatures carrying cargo, and the colourful cloth roofs of market stalls.
This story is posted elsewhere by the author. Help them out by reading the authentic version.
However, upon looking closer there were some strange things: the fighter jets flying into the sunset, various electronic appliances like radios strapped to the belts of soldiers, utilised most likely thanks to the radio satellites visible on various towers and roofs around town.
Hell, there’s even a metro station, seemingly leading into an underground tunnel system.
Disregarding the archaic radio appliances- the metro system looks more advanced than anything in my original world, coated with an ethereal blue shell, likely defence or electromagnetic magic.
The thing that seals it though, is that horrifyingly familiar five-starred red flag; the historical flag of the People’s Republic of China.
Even my luck has its limits huh…
Looks like the other world got neocolonialised.

(Back on Earth)
Six pairs of white wings flew silently through the stained black sky.
Seven pairs of grey eyes observed the uninhabitable landscape of the desolate planet.
A wasteland.
Occasional behemoth craters hollowed out the dry soil, leaving behind ruined ash piles of civilisation and stone.
Seraphiel observed the occasional human with its all-seeing eyes, ragged and visibly deformed from a potent lingering poison in the area.
Far away, unbeknownst to the angel, a rippling beep announced its position.
‘Earth should not have such destructive forces- in a sense this was a world abandoned by their god.’
‘A mass destruction, not seen in other worlds; where magic and other powerful gifts were given…’
Apart from the weighing of souls for judgement, the angels had little to no interaction with this planet, since it was an unreachable place with no magic or divine boons.
This was quite simply due to the fact that the celestial they served was a slothful being.
He had no intention of intervening in the development of this world, and instead enjoyed himself simply observing them or summoning a remarkable soul to converse with.
So the angels spent their time in the divine realm, enjoying paradise, or interacting with other worlds.
After a new Karma system was implemented by the god, there was a few new angels from Earth, but never did they mention the state that Earth was currently in.
*wooosh
A piercing shrill grew closer to the bewildered biblical figure; whistling through the clouds was an airborne guided missile.
Fast.
Bursting from the Seraphim’s eyes, beams of golden light dissolved the missile into salt.
‘A self-homing iron projectile, similar to the magic cannon-ball- but dangerously fast and entirely mechanical…’
Suddenly 5 fighter jets swooped overhead and formed a spiral.
“U.F.O in sight. Looks like some kind of giant moth with eyes all over it”
“Possibility of a bio-weapon. Open fire while maintaining caution”
The jets form an orderly line and take turns spraying a storm of metal at it while swooping and diving.
Seraphiel maintains a shimmering radiant pyramid around itself which dissolves the bullets into a sparkle of light.
Five divine pillars of brilliant energy smite the aircraft from the sky, causing them to turn to salt and drift away in the wind.
‘They dare attack a Seraphim? The highest-rank of angel?’
The enraged calamity flew to the source of the jets as seen through its omniscient eyes.
A large runway with various little people running back and forth busily.
They look up, point and stare, at the majestic figure as it spreads out all of its wings, blocking the setting sun from the west.
It begins to rain heavily.
Vehicles skid sideways on the runway, causing chaos.
The water begins to stick, clot and become red, like blood.
A rustic metallic stink permeates the military facility and causes further hysteria in the soldiers.
*crackle
Sparks dance around a unit of soldiers as they shoot a volley of lightning bolts from their outstretched rail guns.
An advanced combination of magic and technology?
They shouldn’t even have magic!
Just what is wrong with this planet Seraphiel thought, as the bolt impacts into its golden barrier, and a spark bursts through.
It folds all six wings inward to block; leaving singes on its white feathers.
*ribbit
Multicoloured frogs rain from the sky and decorate the landscape, plaguing the panicking soldiers on the ground.
After a few minutes, the blood rain stops, and the battlefield becomes a peaceful haven of frogs and poisoned corpses.
…
The celestials had underestimated the destructive potential of raw human knowledge.
‘Now they even try their luck attacking the angels.’
What a dire mistake we’ve made to leave these humans to their own devices, I silently curse that slothful deity once more.
It seems their technology has advanced to an astounding level in the single millennium that the heavens had taken their eyes off them.
‘Though, that useless god should have known about this- considering all the Earth paraphernalia he keeps around…’
Seraphiel flies upwards and the clouds part to reveal a dazzling golden glow.
Then it disappears from all satellite imagery on Earth.
The barren planet continues to rotate.

…
*thud
Heavy footsteps announce his impending arrival.
The smoke obscures my vision, but I hear a reassuring rattle in front of me, crouched next to the opposite archway of the entrance.
*thud thud
A vampire whimpers nervously behind me, clinging onto the fur of my winter coat.
“H-He’s coming…”
*thud thud thud
…
The shadow of the indiscriminate butcher Cyclops lingered before the entrance.
“WHAT THE HELL IS THIS SMOKE!”
It was time to escape.
