Chapter Six

Boom! Two male Disciples, one in his late twenties and another around fifteen waved away acrid smoke while coughing. Well, the Fifteen-year-old coughed, the Older Disciple formed a barrier of Red Orange Qi around his head to keep the smoke out.

"You know" Senior Luo commented idly, "You Wood Root Cultivators are normally good at not blowing things up. It's Fire Cultivators like myself that most commonly have this issue. Maybe we should get you tested again."

"Funny, Senior, very funny." Yi replied through coughing fits. "You were there on the day Elder Lin tested me; I even have a Water Constitution! I don't understand why the pills have to catch on fire."

"Elder Tao Suspects that due to your Wood Root being Pseudo-Earth Grade your Qi is too pure for these basic pills and they overload. You just need to lower the output until you find balance."

"Still shouldn't they, I don't know, sprout leaves or something then." Yi Grumbled. "Why Burst into flames." He began to clean up the charred remains of his pill while Senior Luo had a good chuckle over his misfortune.

The basic revitalizing pill, essentially an energy supplement for low level Cultivators, was supposedly idiot proof. For thousands of years Apprentices have mastered this recipe in a matter of days, this was Yi's third week.

"Four Succeses today, not bad." Senior Luo said as they left the Refining room.

"Out of twenty tries Senior?" Yi replied wearily.

".... The Journy of a Thousand steps begins with twenty." He replied Sagely.

"You said that already Senior, two weeks ago."

"Did I... Anyway, Junior I have some things I must do, see you again in two days for the next lesson." They bowed and went their separate ways.

Yi had been happy to learn that the same man who had first brought him to the Sect would be his Alchemy teacher. And Senior Luo was a very good teacher, he explained things well and was very patient. Too patient, so patient Yi wanted to explode, but that was probably his frustration talking.

In Exchange for all the materials and books for Tea Making Arts, Yi had to study Alchemy once every Two days. This involved an hour of lecturing followed by two hours of either pill making taught by his Senior Brother of the Flowering Jade Pavilion Luo Chin. Or Medical Alchemy taught by another of his Senior Brother Disciples, Song Delan. Yi Was actually much better at the latter as it didn't require much precise Qi Usage... yet.

His Wood Qi was also especially suited to medical Poultices and eventually, healing arts. Yi was told that his water Constitution was actually nourishing his Wood Root in such a way that, should he become a healer, it would be extra effective. Well, only if he got enough control of his Qi to not make anyone explode. Baby Steps.

Yi made his way toward the Inner Sects food hall; there he encountered a Pink haired girl with a round face. She was surrounded by friends, and they were all chatting away merrily.

"Cao cao" Yi raised his hand in greeting. A blast of water hit him in the face, he brushed his long-wet hair out of his eyes and grinned wickedly. The Others around Hong Cao rapidly dispersed, by now aware of what was going to happen.

Taken from Royal Road, this narrative should be reported if found on Amazon.

Boy and Girl met, fist to fist, no Qi was used, and the fight was short, Yi stood bruised and victorious over her. He opened his mouth to gloat, and she blasted his face with water again. She got up as he spat out some water and then hit him with a gentler burst of air to help clear the water.

"Dinner?" She asked, grinning.

After eating and catching up with Cao, Yi made his way towards home. He arrived shortly at a long building with two stories and rows of doors, Kind of like the cheap motels of his previous life.

He made his way up to the second floor and into his room, nodding at a few other disciples as he passed. He took out a small token from around his neck and pressed it to the formation at the center of the door, it popped open. No Keys for him, he was a cultivator after all.

When Yi entered, he was greeted with a cheerful Squeak and mouse leaping five feet up from the floor to his shoulder. Bao'er hadn't changed much over the years at least in appearance. However, her Qi was much denser as she was now a Second Stage Spiritual Beast, having broken through a year prior.

Spiritual Beasts Cultivate differently from humans, and not always in the same way, so they are usually categorized by their Qi Density. Bao'er being in the Second stage meant her Qi was about as strong as a Peak Qi Gathering or Early Meridian Cleansing Cultivator. Of course, this didn't mean she was strong enough to contend against that level of Cultivator. Ultimately, she was still a mouse no bigger than a fist.

Yi's room was sparse, there was a sink, a table with two chairs, a mat on the floor where he slept, and door leading to a small bathroom. Plumbing in this world was actually the same as in his old one, at least for cultivators. Yi would never forget the outhouses he had used for the first twelve years of his life. There was also a bath house, but Yialso had a small tub to use for himself.

He went over to his 'kitchen' which amounted to a small table, sink and heating stone, and took out his tea set. He went about the long process of brewing tea according to his Art. Like many things in the Cultivator world, Tea making could be done with Qi to interesting effects. Not only the type of leaves used, but also the brewing process, temperature and time, even the actual ceremony could change these effects.

Yi was planning to Cleanse another Meridian tonight, it had been six months, and his foundations was stable. In fact, he hadn't needed to wait this long, his body was ready again after only a month, but he needed other things to prepare.

He was planning on Cleansing his Heart Meridian, one usually left to later as it was both dangerous and painful. However, it was by far one of the most useful. The Stomach Meridian that Yi had Cleansed first was a common choice, it was easy and didn't strain the body too badly.

However, it was not overly useful, merely helping the Cultivator better absorb Qi from their food. The heart would improve his health and stamina, and also, hopefully assist in stabilizing the Qi through his body, giving him more control.

Yi pulled a tea mix out, one he created with a few decent quality Mortal herbs that would promote blood flow and soothe his Internal Energy. Then he went slowly through a ceremony designed to clear the mind and promote focus. Wood Qi in various shades of green swirled around him as he went through the steps in a meditative state. Some of the Qi was absorbed by him, some flowed into the tea itself.

Once the Ceremony was complete, he drank the tea slowly, absorbing its effects and contemplating the way the Qi around him spun. Half an hour after he started the tea was drunk and he was fully in a profound state.

He sat, cross legged on the floor and opened a small box, inside a circular pill the size of a marble sat. Yi had spent most of his Contribution points on this Meridian Cleansing pill in preparation for today. These types of pills lose effectiveness the more they are used so they are generally saved for the more difficult Meridians.

Yi Placed the white pill in his mouth and it dissolved rapidly. He closed his eyes as the energy from the pill, his tea, and the ceremony all mixed together inside his Soul space where his Dantian was.

Gently he guided the energy, though a narrow and dim Qi channel, lighting it up on his way to the Heart Meridian. Minutes ticked by, then hours, the sun set behind the mountains and still Yi Cultivated.

Deep into the night his eyes shot open, Dark Green wave rippled out with Yi at the center. He coughed a mouthful of blood and grinned, his red teeth glistening in the light of the moon.

"Success." He exclaimed and laughed.
