When Jo found himself floating in an endless void of black, his first thought was, oh shit I'm dead. His second was who's going to watch my cat! In fact, it was a startling number of time and thoughts later that he noticed the glowing man sitting cross legged behind him.
The Man had loosely Asian features, but not quite, like a Chinese man had been carved by a Greek sculptor. He wasn't buff, but certainly toned and chiseled, for lack of a better word, perfect like a statue.
While he sat cross legged it actually looked more like floating since there was nothing beneath him. He had long, old fashion Chinese Robes that where pristine white and embroidered with red silk.
"Jo" The Man began, his English perfect but bizarrely lacking in an accent. "You Have been chosen as a Protagonist for one of the Story Worlds. Your Theme is 'Reincarnated from another Realm' Which has been quite popular with the Immortals as of late. I know You Have a lot of Questions; however, you are forbidden from speaking so first let me put you mind at ease. Your Cat is fine. He will Escape out the window and be Adopted by a loving family in three weeks' time, they will rename him Taco."
Jo Sighed in relief, or tried to, nothing really came out of his mouth. Oh god I don't have a mouth. Jo came to a Sudden realization.
"Worry not Jo, you will regain a Mouth and everything else when you descend into the world. The Story world you are being placed into is a Cultivation story. You will not be the only Protagonist their and some may have a greater Plot than yours so be careful. Two Protagonist do not often coexist well."
"As a Protagonist you will be granted a Golden Finger. As a Reincarnater it has been decided that your Golden finger will be a Choosing of Fate."
"You Have Five Fates. You will get to pick an option from each of these, and each will have three random Options." The man pulled his hand out of his long sleeves and waved with a flourish. Five block of flowing text that Glowed a warm green in the black of the space shimmered before me.

"These are..." The man Trailed off. "Well, the Options are fairly Randomized, and nothing above Heavenly Grade is Allowed, but still. Boy I'm not really one to do this but let me offer you some advice. The Immortals like you to pick blind for the story, however these options aren't very... Well, they're Shit."
"Firstly, the Dao. All under the Dao is Powerful, and Anything, Anything at All, Heavenly Grade is worth it. Any old person is born with a Mortal Talent, so they aren't Special." He looked at Jo Meaningfully.
"Secondly, The Devouring Yin ice is a Powerful constitution, almost as good as a Heavenly constitution. However, The Devouring part is your Cultivation, that's how it grows. Unless you have an Ice Spiritual Root to better nourish it, or a Fire Spiritual Root to prevent it from eating you whole, it is very dangerous."
"The Stalwart heart is the best constitution there; you can never have to many Defenses against Mentalists. Trickling Springs is not a good Constitution, it is difficult to Nurture, and only gives half as much water Qi as an Equivalent grade Water Spirit Root."
"However, if you choose the Wood or Water Spiritual root the Trickling Springs Constitution would be your best choice. With the Water Root you would be able to better nourish your constitution, greatly increasing your supply of water Qi. This will be especially powerful for the first two Realms."
"With the Wood Root, the Trickling Springs would actually nourish your Spiritual Root. You would lose access to the water Qi, but your Wood Root would be as good as an Earth Grade. It would not be as powerful as the Devouring yin ices Earth Grade, but much better than any Mortal root."
"The Only reason to choose the Metal Root would be if you were going to choose the Sword or Smithing Dao Talent. It would also be slightly more resistant to the Devouring Ice but not by much."
"As for the Birth Treasure, the Gourd is the best. Earthly Grade wine can sell for quite a good price. The Fire stone will be useless once you are past First Realm. Mortal fire is Harmless to most cultivators of the Second Realm or above."
"The Grassy Field Mouse isn't bad. Their strength is nonexistent, however that just makes their danger sense stronger, and they do have a nose for natural Treasures. If you Choose the Wood Spiritual Root you Can better nourish the Beast, but it will get stronger with you regardless."
"Lastly, I am unsure of the First Two Origin options. However, the Shu Clan Matriarch has lived for close to a thousand years and has almost as many Illegitimate Children as she does Lovers. She Practices a Unique Path and has a strange constitution that Allows her to steal small amounts of Talent from each child she births. This Constitution most likely wouldn't affect you as a Protagonist protected by The Plot, however if the Story Wills it, you may find your potential Damages before you even start. An Underdog Protagonist Story, where your own mother stole from you."
"Remember in all choices what kind of Protagonist you wish to be. And always keep in mind, the Plot can be a good to you, but it is never your friend." The Man Starred at Jo Intensely then Sighed.
"Well, the Immortals will be annoyed with me for the advice but frankly if they could do anything to me, I'd be dead already." With that he winked out of existence, leaving Jo With nothing but green glowing text to keep him company.
