Chapter 5: Wooden Phase

Scale that was what he thought would happen, but the thing he didn't expect was the unbearable itching spread all over his skin.

Scale ran over a tree and rubbed against it in an attempt to mitigate the itching as the process continued.

Fur fell out only to be replaced by new, more robust fur, growing in size slightly, and fixing Scales shattered claws.

An explosion erupted in Scales chest that delt no damage to him and left hundreds of remnants of raw power behind like shards of glass that radiated small amounts of warmth.

[New Wooden Phase 1 has been made]

[As the First Star Bear to enter the Celestial System, you will receive the title Primordial Star Bear]

The itch faded, and Scale marveled at feeling in his chest and fixed claws before turning to the remaining pill.

Scale brought the enhancing pills to Onix and pushed them to eat it, who reluctantly ate it and experienced the same symptoms with the burn fading, replaced by fresh skin.

Onix slowly stood up, surprised by the lack of pain.

"How Scale know?" Rigun walked around Scale, excited about the new cub.

"The panel said it was an enhancing pill, so I used it first to see if it was true." Scale told a half truth to the cub. He wanted to check first but also wanted one of the pills for himself.

"You can read!?" Rigun looked at Scale with awe and jumped in joy.

The other cubs except Onix joined in the cheering as they shared the food with other.

Scale was uncomfortable with the idea of eating raw meat, but he couldn't be picky with food when he wasn't going to have anything cooked for a while.

"Scale?" Onix walked up to Scale with a confused face that

"Yeah, what is it?" Scale gave him a strange look. He sounds different.

"I feel strange. My head feels clearer... Do you?" Onixs words were more clear not by much, but it was enough for Scale notice.

"No, but my chest has a weird feeling." Scale didn't care to think too deeply about it for now. Hopefully, it just made him smarter and not something bad.

Scale looked around at the cub, who was playing again before Onix spoke up again. "Yeah, I feel it too... It moves when I want it to."

Scale turned to Onix with confusion at the strange addition. "Huh, could you explain a bit more?"

"The feeling felt even better when moved." Onix poorly elaborated, but it was enough for Scale to understand something from it.

Momentary disbelief racked Scale before trying the same thing himself.

Scale focused on a single shard with the intention to move it. Nothing happened.

Scale tried again with more force. It shifted.

Scale was about to try again, but a high-pitched roar snapped him out of his endeavor.

Scale looked around and immediately saw what made the noise as a massive moose with crystal antlers made its entrance by breaking through a tree.

Scale saw that the other cubs were panicking, not sure what to do. Scale looked at the moose and knew it was furious for some reason.

The moose thrashed, kicking Jenon, sending her flying.

Jenon hit a tree and slumped to the ground with a whimper.

Thinking fast, Onix ran over and picked up Jenon by the scruff of the neak with practiced percision. "Run! Meet at clearing!"

With that order, Onix ran off, and Kimona and Mikona ran off together while Pafen and Rigun ran together.

Leaving Scale to run off on his own.
