Chapter 2 : "Family & Miracle"

Chapter 2 : "Family & Miracle"

It's been almost 7 months since Helen's 20th birthday, and will enter February 2016. Last year, precisely on October 29, 2015, Helen got the good news that she was elected to get a scholarship to a college in Japan by the company where she works for the time being.

Helen of course was so happy! She almost jumped in joy and acted strangely in the office after she got the statement from the boss. The reason for the girl with full name "Helen Marvelyn Anwar" to act like that was because she had already long dreamed of studying in japan. But, because of financial reasons, she had to bury her dream. Even so, Helen never really gave up! She's still trying to find a way to realize her dreams! Although now she became an orphan since losing of both her parents in an accident. At that time, she was about to be in high school.

She would never forget the promises she made to her parents. That Helen would one day continue to struggle and try to fulfill her dreams, even if that were impossible! There must be a way as long as she try!

Since the accident, she had to fight and survive on her own. It's not that she had no relatives but she was reluctant to ask for help, what more, ask for the compassion from that hypocrite peoples. Because those who claim to be "relatives" or "family" had never really considered Helen and her parents as part of their family.

They hardly even visit Helen's little family when her parents were still alive. The only reason they would come to Helen's mom and dad is when they are in trouble and need money! They continue to exercise their rights and the duty that Helen's parents must fulfill. They would constantly "preach" about morals, truth, family and whatever they can use to corner her parents with their status as "family". Bullshit! All they want is my parents' property! They only think of Helen's father and mother as money maker!

Every time Helen went with her parents to family events, those people would be sneaky! They will look nicely and friendly, in front of others or when they want something from Father and mother. But, when their goals and intentions have been reached, they can change their stance, In the blink of an eyes! Even their attitude will be much worse if their request is not met. They will start bullying his father and mother as someone who is ignorant, arrogant and didn't care about their relatives and family.

Though Father and mother always make their best efforts to help our extended family or relatives if they are troubled, they were the one who never existed when we needed them! When father's company went bankrupt and we all had to sleep on the streets, one by one the cunning beasts began to show their true colors! Although the condition of our family really fell and needed help.

They will make a million reasons to refuse us. They are reluctant to help. Even talking to us, they felt disgusted. Moreover, we even got expelled and insulted like a beggar or a stray cat when father came to the house of one of his brothers, just to borrow some money to buy "a mouthful of rice"*. They treated us lower than animals!

Helen will never forget how those people treated her and her parents when they were poor. Helen will not forget the ungrateful traitors! How despicable and lowly they are, treating her father and mother! Absolutely disgusting!

Although Helen's little family had to face tidal conditions, it did not make Helen's parents both discouraged in educating and raising Helen, what else to think about throwing Helen out! Helen is very grateful to have parents like them. Helen was never embarrassed when people taunted her as poor and a homeless. She was never shy or sorry when her old man was merely a peddler. She was proud! At least it's much better than eating black money*.

Father and mother never complain about their condition. Their only concern was Helen! They were afraid they would not be good parents for her and feared that Helen will suffer. They were willing to starve as long as she could eat and willing to be cold to make sure she was warm. Helen believed God would never ignore the good man and His obedient believers.

And right! Thank goodness, God heard their efforts and prayers. This little family was standing up again! The small business done by her beloved father and mother also paid off. When her father was hawked his merchandise and mother was busy making lunch for them, they accidentally saw an aging grandfather standing by their stall.

The old man looked tired and confused. That grandfather then approached our stall, when he saw the plate and the food we had eaten, he wanted to take it. Mom did not throw the grandfather out, she just took the leftovers and our dirty dishes. Mother replaced the dish with a clean bowl and gave the grandfather a serving of fresh and untouched chicken porridge to be eaten by that old man.

Grandpa ate with gusto, he looked so starved. We were waiting for the grandfather to finish his food. After that, Dad started asking the old man. What's his name, where did he come from, where did he live and or did he still have a family? Unfortunately, of all those questions, none of it could be answered by the grandfather.

This tale has been unlawfully obtained from Royal Road. If you discover it on Amazon, kindly report it.

We started to get confused ... Dad couldn't even believe, how can an old grandfather like him got here, without remembering anything? We saw that his body had no signs of harm or injury. It made Mom and Dad relieved, because that meant the grandfather was not treated roughly. Luckily he did not meet thugs or bad guys who might endanger his life.

Father and mother also believed that this grandfather suffered from Alzheimer disease. After knowing that, the only thing we could do was to take him to the local police station. Maybe they will get a report about the missing person and there may be a family member of the grandfather who was worried waiting for news of his whereabouts.

Eventually father and mother drove the grandfather over there and explained how they met the grandfather.

After that, nothing so significant happened. The days went on as usual for 1 week. Father and mother began to realize that for almost a week since the incident, their trading business began to increase. There was a man who loved to come and buy dad's merchandise.

We are very grateful to God and the man, but also wonder. Why did he always buy our merchandise, and what did he do with the things he bought? Until the third week, the man finally revealed his intentions and purpose, why all this time he always come and buy our merchandise.

God is just, and it is true! It turns out the man is the son of that old grandfather that had we helped. He also told me that he would move to America and intend to bring his father, that old man to come to live together, and at the same time to do the treatment on old grandpa.

He was very grateful because we had found his father, fed him and made sure he was all right. The family and he was very panicked at the time, knowing the 88-year-old man suddenly disappeared from home.

Therefore he also decided to meet the man who had found the grandfather. He's determined to return the favor. But of course he also wants to ascertain who we are and what kinda person are we. And for 3 weeks it turns out he keeps watching over us. He is very impressed of father and mother's persistence and patience. Then, he decided to reveal his intentions today.

Father and mother were also surprised and grateful, saying that it was not a big deal. We as human and social beings should help each other among His creations.

The man invited us to eat together at his house. At first, mother refused, mother was afraid we would inconvenience the man. But the man insisted on taking us. Finally they also melted and willing to meet the man's invitation.

Once there, we were greeted warmly and kindly. This certainly makes me and my parents both happy and sad. We are glad that these new people we know can actually accept us who look like dirty bums without looking down on us. Sad, because mom and dad remember how different the attitudes of their own relatives and families when they welcome us. It's a pity ... The people we consider family just like strangers to us, and people we do not know, just treat us like a family.

We are treated to delicious and delicate foods, that we have not seen or enjoyed for a long time. After the dinner session, the man made a very surprising announcement for the three of us.

The man named Anton Kusuma then said, tomorrow morning he and all members of his family in this house will go to America and start living there. He intends to give the house to us, along with its contents.

Suddenly, father and mother had stood up. They could not believe what they heard and thought their ears might have loss it ability to hear.

Mr. Anton looked so satisfied when he saw the shocked expression of the three of us. Apparently He had deliberately planned all this. With a laugh, Mr. Anton explained that he was actually planning to sell this house. But after seeing the condition of our little family having no home, he and his family agreed to give us this house and land.

Dad once again had refused! He feels this gift is too big and not worth what he has done. But Mr. Anton is also no less hard headed, he even threatened to give more if we do not want to receive his gift

Daddy then gave in... The three of us had cried because we felt so grateful and touched, God finally answered our prayer by sending his gift through Mr. Anton and that Grandfather.

That night became the most beautiful moment Helen ever remembered. That makes her even more believing, that miracle is real! As long as we try and believe in it.

The house given by Mr. Anton, may not be so big for a rich man's house. But, this is more than enough for us. Although this house looks small, this is actually quite spacious than our old house. Father and mother are people who like to live a simple life even though they once lived abundant rich, unlike his siblings who are competing to show off their wealth and their homes. If we look closely, this house is really spacious and the land is so big, our new house not only has a garden in front and back of the house but also in the middle!

Apparently Mr. Anton and family are so fond of the house with many gardens and plants.

Before leaving, Mr. Anton had advised his lawyers, to take care of all the necessary papers and necessities of our daily lives. Mr. Anton also had time to give extra money for father's business. In fact he wanted to pay for Helen's education. At least, until Helen graduate from college. But father and mother almost got a heart attack! Seeing that, finally Mr. Anton stay back to just support through Helen's elementary grade.

Helen's parents insist on not wanting to inconvenience Mr. Anton even though he feels this is not a hassle. Dad says that for Helen's school fees they will inshallah* can fulfill it, furthermore the money that Mr. Anton gave was more than enough for us to start a new business. Plus Mr. Anton will also pay our electricity and water bills for 1 year. For us, it is more than enough to return the favor, it is even very, very helpful for us. It is us who are afraid of not being able to repay his kindness. Really, in this world there are people who are so good like him.

Our life was back to normal, Helen could go back to school like a child at her age. Father's business is starting to grow and mother also now able to rest, relax taking care of themselves and taking care of all the housework.

Helen always hoped and prayed that this happiness would last forever, until she grows up and can make her parents happy. Later she intended to keep and take care both of them, so father and mother do not have to worry about the necessities of life and other problems, like how they take care, keep and raise Helen. They just have to relax and enjoy life. That was Helen's greatest hope and dream. And to be one of the greatest regrets that Helen felt because she knew she would not be able to fulfill all her dreams and wishes to her parents. But Helen would still find another way to dedicate her dream. She searched for other ways to please her late parents. One is to keep pursuing and fulfilling her dreams and aspirations.

Though the togetherness and happiness of their lives was short, but Helen still enjoyed it. It became one of Helen's treasured memories with her parents.
