Chapter 3 Red River

The piercing blue of his eyes glued Jane to the spot. She couldn't move, she couldn't look away, she couldn't even think. A flash of white entered Jane’s vision as the man with the blue eyes smiled. Out of the periphery of her eye focused sight Jane caught the glint of sharp teeth sticking up from his mouth. The stranger slowly lifted up his arm and brought his hand to Jane’s face and brushed back her hair away from her face and back behind her shoulder. A casual romantic gesture in a better situation was unnaturally creepy in a downtown parking garage at two in the morning. The eyes left her for but a moment as the man’s mouth grew abnormally wide, wide enough to put a whole grapefruit into it. Then pain. Horrible earth shattering pain in her neck. Jane’s whole body tensed up. Her arms and legs refused to respond to the signals of escape her mind sent them. Her feet lifted off the ground as the ma– the Vampire, for what else could it be, wrapped his arms around her and lifted her up to a better sucking position. Jane felt something start flowing out of her and into him, like all her life energy was being drained away.

He’s… Drinking… my… Blood…

Jane thought, her thoughts sluggish from the pain and the drain.

Another shot of pain went through her and her thoughts started moving a little faster as adrenaline filled her system.

I..must..stop..him..somehow..

Jane’s limbs began to move according to her will once again. She tried to push back against him but while her limbs could move she could not put any force behind her shoves, not that she was very strong in the first place.

Noticing her struggle the vampire with the startling blue eyes and the scruffy but immaculate face which was now buried in her neck, set her down on the ground.

Now I can–

But before she could do anything the vampire had readjusted his grip on Jane so that her arms were pinned under his and with her draining strength and normally weak body there was nothing she could do but wait for the sweet release of death.

No… I… Can’t… Let… It… End… Here…

Jane looked around frantically for something, anything that she could use to escape this horrible fate. Her eyes caught upon a spot of pale flesh just below her terrified face. Jane did the only thing she could think of, the only thing left for her to do. She bit down on the vampire’s neck.

It was like chewing through a bar of solid molasses. She had to force her teeth through the skin with her weak jaw not strengthened from all the Jabbering her “friends” were used to. Finally after what seemed like ages Jane felt the skin give way. A hot syrupy liquid flowed into her mouth, a red river of blood flowing from the vampire’s body into her own. Surprisingly there was no coppery taste like all the books say blood tastes like. Instead the blue eyed vampire’s blood, and this sounded strange even to Jane’s own mind, tasted like the very first piano and a pair of mated greece.

As the blood flowed into her, Jane’s energy started coming back. Her cold limbs began to feel warm again, her body struggled with more force, and it was clear that the vampire had to hold her a little bit tighter to keep her from escaping.

Now mister blue eyes and immaculately scruffy did not just stand idly by and let Jane suck his blood but he started sucking faster and faster, Jane’s blood escaping her body too fast for her to do anything with the energy from his blood. What could Jane do but join the vampire in this suckfest and increase the pace at which she drank the vampire’s blood.

On and on it went. Jane’s blood went out of her body and into the vampire. The vampire’s blood left him and went into Jane’s body. In and out. In and out. In and out. Jane’s whole focus was on the bloody tug of war inside their bodies. She was gaining no strength but she wasn't losing any either. She was sucking his blood as hard and as fast as she could and it was all she could do just to stay alive.

If… something… doesn’t… change… I’ll… die…

Jane’s arms were trapped, but her legs were just dangling there in the air. Jane started kicking and flailing her legs. Kicking anything she could. She hit shins, knees, and finally something softer right in the middle. Jane felt the vampire tense up against her, then a violent shove and they were separated. Jane slammed into the car that had been behind her this whole time and the car came up on two wheels before setting back to the ground. Jain collapsed forward and landed heavily on the ground. A pool of warm red liquid began widening around Jane’s face. She tried to look up at the blue eyed vampire and the immacu– make that formally immaculate face. For the vampire’s face was now a horrid visage of monstrosity incarnate. All the skin on his face seemed scrunched up in a look of predatory hate. His sharp teeth, which had been barely a fingertip in length when she had glimpsed them earlier, had now grown to three full inches in length. His mouth was covered in her blood. The vampire spat something out of his mouth and to the ground. He began stumbling around seemingly dizzy. He stumbled out of her sight and there was a strange metallic screeching noise.

Jane closed her eyes, as they were getting too heavy for her to keep them open. Her feet grew cold and then numb, her hands and arms followed suit. Jane’s head was so heavy it felt like trying to lift a Newfoundland puppy with just her head. She heard the sound of feet smacking on a wet concrete floor. Then everything went black.
