Chapter 4 Part One

Roxanne and Nicholas glared at each other. Arawn was not only afraid that Nicholas was going to attack Roxanne. He was afraid that she was going to get them expelled or even being the most hated people in Dulore even though the humans and the Immugus hated them already.

The crowd was getting bigger and bigger as the commotion between Nicholas and Roxanne became heated.

Nicholas smirked at Roxanne and his eye light brown eyes turn red in minutes.

“I expect you to respect me because I am superior to you halfling as you are on the Immugus grounds,” he said smugly.

“I am not dumb nor am I stupid to believe that Dulore is Immugus grounds,” Roxanne corrected, “As you know that this academy is part of the society grounds meaning that this is a neutral place for everyone.” She steps closer to Nicholas until their heads are almost touching.

She continues, “You see, you should respect me as your equal, not as you loyal halfling servant.”

Some of the people around them gasped. Others shake their heads while the ones that side with Nicholas were ready to attack them.

“People. People. Claim down,” said a girl with black straight hair sitting on top of the table. Her bright eyes stare at Roxanne and smiled. Roxanne can tell that this girl is a vampire but not an ancient vampire.

Nicholas turned to the olive-skinned girl with a frown.

“Sofia, this is not the time,” he said.

Sofia waved her hand and pushed off the table to greet Roxanne. She stands in front of Roxanne with her hand sticking out. Roxanne looks down on the hand and looks back up toward the smiling girl. As she grabs the girl's hand. It was cold.

Roxanne shivered and Arawn moves his hands from Roxanne shoulders.

“You’re a coldblooded vampire,” Roxanne blurted. Nicholas's face darkened in anger, but Sofia just smiled at Roxanne and nodded.

“Yep, 5th generation and proud Rosiello,” she said while letting go of Roxanne's hand. She turns to the crowd around them.

“There nothing to see here move along," she yelled.

Roxanne looks down and whispered,” Rosiello.

Sofia turns to Roxanne, “Is something wrong.”

Roxanne looks at her and shakes her head, “No… It just that your last name sounds familiar.”

Sofia smiled again, “Oh, might hear about my sister Emilia, who is second command mentor of the Protectors. She is one of the talented people within the organization.”

“Yeah, that seems to be right,” Roxanne whispers to herself not knowing that Sofia giving her a confused look.

There was a loud clap that caught everyone's attention. They all turn towards the balcony where a tall man with short sandy brown hair. He opens his arms wide.

“Welcome student to Dulore academy. As this is one of its kind and you were chosen to get the higher education that none of your previous schools offered. As of 1996, Dulore reopens to a new era. A new generation. Which is going to be you. All of you, he said with a grin on his face. “Dulore have anything and everything that you would want here such as friendship with an Immugus, human, or both. But you have to find where you belong and that why you. The younger generation of your parents can make peace with each other and while making that peace would bring a greater society.”

Behind the headmaster, there was a group of different people step up behind him.

“Some of you know this school because of your parents. As they were students here before 1944. Before the war, “he said looking down and close his eyes while shaking his head. He looks back at the students. “But this is a new age. A new time. A new society where all can accomplish something greater and greater than you. Now let’s get into the organization.

The man pushes a bottom in front of him and something comes behind the students. It was a huge screen. The student was amazed at the unfamiliar object, but to Roxanne, halflings, and the human has amazed them to but what amazed them was that it has no projectors to visualized the screen nor the screen has something to hold it up. It like it was floating like the candles that Roxanne saw in the entranceway.

This tale has been unlawfully obtained from Royal Road. If you discover it on Amazon, kindly report it.

The screen shows a symbol of a Blue Cross with the world Superiors on the bottom of the screen.

“This my students are the Superiors of the organization. Top-level group of the best of the best. This is the group that checks on others to keep them in check. When becoming a Superior you have to have the leadership though out the way and few became one because of the lack of patients and respectfulness to others. They are the overseers of justice and loyalty to this society. That is why mostly the gods and goddess, demons, ancient vampire, elite human and elves get this position because of their rank in their race.”

Roxanne glance at Nicholas while he smirked at the screen.

The headmaster continues, “However, as we do have Junior Captain and Commander, the Superiors leaders do not get the title only the Protectors, Healers, Gathers, and The Keepers.”

He switches the screen to the next slide to show a white screen with two hands together like they were holding something.

“Here is the Healer organization. They are the one who keeps the Immugus and human race heath in check. They are the doctors and nurses in our society. This use to be the mages and elves only until the council approves the idea of choosing an organization of your own choice.”

When he said this the students gasped in the excitement of choosing an organization, but Roxanne was wary about how they would be trained for the organizations.

He switches screens again that show a green screen with a Bohr symbol.

“The Gathers are the most intelligent people in our society and rather idealistic who analyzes the scientific properties of an object or artifact. They are the reason why we have excellent technologies that are very ahead of human’s time. They are our inventors, scientist, and technologist. They are many things as they create our society to be the best of the best.”

The headmaster switches the screen again, but this time there are two symbols. One with two swords cross and the other is pages of a book.

“The last two organizations work together like peas and pods,” he points to the two swords cross, “This one is the oldest organization. They are the Protectors. The warriors. They guard what’s important. They are meant to protect and serve society. Highly trained in hand combat, weaponry, and movement. The people who work in this organization risk everything and put society first and first only. They are usually the coldblooded vampires and werewolves, but the council was hoping for more diversity and willing people to join.”

Arawn tilts his head towards Roxanne.

“It seems being a Protector is dangerous. I wonder what type of person wants to risk their lives just for the society and nothing else,” Arawn said worried about how this going to affect their choices.

Roxanne turns to him.

“I don’t know but it looks like a lot of students want to be in the Protectors,” Roxanne said glancing at the other student's faces, “But I believe it is for the wrong reasons than right ones.”

Both turn to face the headmaster as he talks about the next organization.

“The Keepers was actually banned years ago and now disband with thousands of people in this organization makes it one of the most organized people in this society. They are the ones who research and analyze artifacts before the Gathers. They also recorded many of the magical creatures in the past. The Keepers are the historians, caretakers, code crackers, ritual keepers, ancient weapons analyzers, language, and language holders of this society. This organization was the most diverse than any other organization and have a reputation for being the most respectable people in the world.”

The headmaster finished his presentation and turn towards his students.

“You all are going to have a class together depending on age, gender, and what race you are. The mandatory classes are strength classes for males and alpha shifters/wolves and etiquette class is for females and omega shifters/wolves. These classes would happen on Mondays, however this week the Keepers, Superiors, Healers, Gathers, and Protector classes are for everyone to practice seeing which organization is fit for them. Friday is any day where you can get the extra practice for your chosen organization and Saturday is Chosen Day. Where you and many people are going to be official participants of the society and continue to participate in your adult life,” the headmaster takes a long breath, “ You are going to be introduced to your teachers during the week and hope you get on their good side. You may take a seat and enjoy your dinner.”

The headmaster snaps his fingers and food suddenly appeared on the round tables.

“Whoa,” Arawn said looking at the food in such amazement.

“You know that you are drooling,” Roxanne commented.

“I can’t help it. I haven't eaten all day,” Arawn points at the table that is closer to them, “Look at the chicken, the green beans, and cornbread. Oh! Just like my dad’s cooking.

Arawn sign with his hand on his chest. Roxanne rolled her eyes and walk towards the far back table where no one is sitting. Arawn followed her. Once in their sit, Nicholas and Sofia sit next to them. Both Roxanne and Arawn look at them in confusions, but Sofia smiled at them.

“I know that we got on a rough start, but I would like to apologize for him,”

“That is nice of you, but I would like to hear it from him.”

All of them were staring at Nicholas while he was glaring back at them. Sofia shakes her head.

“Don’t mind him. He always likes this on his good days,” Sofia said while patting his shoulder.

“On his good days, that must be painful on his worst days,” Arawn commented while chuckled.

Roxanne smiled a bit while she grabs food from the table. In the shadows, someone watching Roxanne and smirked.

“You’re here,” they whisper
