Darkness shadows the room and whispers flow with the wind. A large sound struck through the air with a loud BOOM! This would wake anyone from their dreams and even their nightmares. Roxanne was an exception. She hardly woken up from the storm. Not even move a muscle except for her breathing.
Roxanne's chest was moving at a fast rate and it gets even more faster when lightning strikes. On those strikes, a flash of the past came across her mind. Memories that she wishes to forget and let go, but always there.
Roxanne brows tighten when whispers have gotten stronger in each strike. As they became unbearable. A sudden sharp pain took over her body and a high whistle fill the room. Tears came down on Roxanne's face and sweat began to form. Soon after the storm became a heartbeat to each memory.
Ba bum. A house was engulfed in flames.
Ba bum. "Go Roxanne run!"
Ba bum. The sounds of the leaves of each step. Jumping loges and dodging trees to find a way out. Thud! Caught her leg in a trap and a large number of foot's steps coming her way. Hands grab her by the shoulders and threw her in a cage.
Ba bum. Lock in a cage nowhere to go. A woman walks towards her with a knife.
"This would hurt me more than it hurts you," she said sweetly with a twisted smile on her face. She turned her back on me and hold the knife towards the man's neck.
"You shouldn't tell her to run, honey," giggled the long-haired woman as she put pressure on the man's neck.
"No," whisper Roxanne, "I cannot let you do this."
"Oh, sweetheart it already had begun." The woman throws the knife away and snaps the man's neck with her bare hands.
Roxanne cannot move. She cannot breathe, but the sound of the woman's laugh makes her blood boils. When she opens her mouth it came as a scream of fear, anger, and destruction.
Roxanne's eyes fly open. The first thing in her mind was to attack. She fires at the first object that in her eyes sight. When Roxanne finally was aware of her surroundings. She looked at her hands a saw red fire. She calmed herself with deep breaths and slowly went to the restroom. When she got there, she put her hands on the sink and stared at herself in the mirror. It felt like it was a long time that she sees herself in the mirror. When she moved her long, but kinky hair from her face and see dark circles under her eyes.
I must have got it from the nightmare, she thought. When she moves back to her room, she heard coming towards her room. Usually, people don't visit her or most likely avoiding her because of her close off personality. When the door open, Roxanne froze and quickly, but quietly grabbed a knife under the from the nightstand. When the figure closes the door, their back was turned, and Roxanne swiftly moves towards the person. She swings the weapon towards what she believed is was its shoulder. The figure quickly dodges her attack and caught her hand to throw the knife away, but Roxanne did not stop there she grabs the arm and twists it so the person would fall on their knees. When they screamed Roxanne kneed them in the face. As she was standing over them, she was about to bring forth her power, but the voice telling her to stop.
That voice, Roxanne thought. It sounds so familiar.
"Roxanne it me," said the voice but this time Roxanne recognized the person voice.
"Dawn," Roxanne said in surprise. Usually, Dawn would knock on her door before coming in, but its Dawn she basically does what she wants.
"You know Roxanne, you could turn on the lights once you wake up," sassed Dawn. As she pulls herself up with her elbow only by a little, but enough to see Roxanne.
Roxanne rolled her eyes and putting her weapon back on the night. She sits on her bed to get a good look at Dawn. She looks the same as always expect the busies on her nose that Roxanne cause. Dawn has this short rainbow hair that was easily seen even in the dark, but Roxanne guesses that she should be more aware of her surroundings.
The tale has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.
"You okay," Roxanne said out of concerned.
"Yeah, I'm ok, but you need to work on your sense," said Dawn exhausted. Pushing herself up from the ground and walk or rather limp towards the bed. "So you have another nightmare."
"I never can get pass you can I," Roxanne chuckled.
"No, you can't because I know you for 4 years now and apparently you did not change over the years," sighed Dawn as she sits herself on the bed and quietly grunts in pain.
"I'm sure that I different now, said Roxanne.
"Not really, but are you okay Roxy," she said out of concern.
Roxanne looks back at her and said, "I fine for now." She thought for a second should she tell her.
No, she thought. It rather be unsaid than to be heard. Roxanne got up from the bed and get clothes from her nightstand.
"Roxanne you know you can trust me right," said Dawn knowing that Roxanne is avoiding the issue rather than talking about.
"I know," Roxanne simply said as she quickly finds her chosen clothes and went to the bathroom.
When Roxanne came back from the bathroom, Dawn was gone. However, there was a note on the nightstand. She walks towards the nightstand and grabs the note. It says:
Roxanne, I want to let you know that the headmistress would like to see you before class. I know that you don't want to see her, but Roxanne gives her a chance. She wants the best for you. She wants the best for all of her students. And also just in case, you were worried about me. I healed myself before leaving your room, but I just want you to know that I forgive you. Even though you pretty much break my nose, but I forgive you.
Roxanne shakes her head. Dawn would be always Dawn. No matter how many years will past. She will always be the same.
When she got to the headmistress's office, she pushes the two large doors softly to not make a noise, however, it did make a quite creaking in each push. Inside the office is like a large library with stairs circle around the area. The desk was in the middle of the room, and standing by the desk is a tall, long-haired woman with a straightforward face. When you look at her you would think she a coldhearted woman and she is according to Roxanne. But Roxanne knows that she has to keep her students in order. The headmistress approaches Roxanne with elegance in each step. You might think that she was floating on air.
"It is nice to see you, Roxanne," said the headmistress in a proper tone. "I would not think you would see me."
"Well here I am, said Roxanne not caring what the headmistress thinks of her.
The headmistress chuckled, " You have not change Roxanne."
After that been said headmistress, reach to her pockets and pull out a letter.
"What is it," asked Roxanne while looking at the strangely familiar sun symbol on the front of the letter.
"This is a letter from Dulore, " said the headmistress giving the letter to Roxanne.
Roxanne snaps her head towards the headmistress as she grabbed the letter from the headmistress's hands. "Dulore but the academy was close down 44 years ago. Why would it be open again," she sputtered.
The headmistress just simply smiled, which is weird to see that on her face and give her a nod to open the letter.
Roxanne was hesitant at first, but she opens the letter and begins to read:
Dear Headmistress of Westwood Academy of the Arcane
We are here to inform you that the school Dulore Academy has reopened due to the new law that has been placed. We wish that you bring one of your best students to experience this opportunity. They would experience new learning from their teachers within the school and the opportunity of being in a junior organization. The term begins on August 20th. We will wait for your response no later than August 15th. Yours sincerely,
Michael Harrison
Headmaster of Dulore
Roxanne is speechless. Why now and why ever. The human and the Immugus race would not get along that quickly.
"How many witches are going to Dulore, Roxanne demanded.
The headmistress simply looks at Roxanne in a way that she does not like and would never like.
"I'm going to be the only witch there with a bunch of hyper killing human and Immugus who both do not like magic beings," Roxanne sarcastically remarked.
"So since you didn't say no I wanted you to know that I already put your name in as one of my best students," said the headmistress smiling at Roxanne.
Roxanne drops the letter in shock and she never wants to hurt the headmistress, but right now she wants to choke her to death.
"This opportunity would help build the relationship between human and Immugus race back to what it once was, and you know that magical being such as us was the ones who done fix the relationship years ago. Who side we can't do it again," explain the headmistress, "I know that you going to be the only witch there, but you can show them that you are just as powerful as them, as smart as them, and as well trained."
Roxanne can only look at her, but she knows that the headmistress is right, However, the only thing that bothers her is why her. Why send her to a possible place where she can die trying to bring back peace even if they are teenagers.
The headmistress put her hands-on Roxanne shoulders to put her at ease and look straight to Roxanne's eyes. "Roxanne you are only 14 and I'm not going to force you to go, but I want to let you know that there would be a car waiting for you tomorrow at six pm on the dot."
She let go of Roxanne's shoulders and give her space to think. To be honest, Roxanne is overwhelmed because she has little time to think and this is something to think about. She looks at the headmistress before going to class and never looked back. But the headmistress knows that Roxanne would make the right choice and not knowing what her future would bring. As the door close behind Roxanne, headmistress went back to her paperwork and smiled knowing that her planed is working.
