Chapter 1.6 - Final Part

Chapter 1.6 - Final Part

The Divine Sanctuary stood as the dwelling place of Neira, the Goddess of Time and Space. Within its confines resided Rejikh and Neira, their presence creating an atmosphere laden with gravitas. Amid this subdued ambiance, Rejikh refrained from offering comments on the ongoing battle between his creation and Alexander. In contrast, Neira sported an unrestrained smile, her demeanor reflecting her inner amusement. Eventually breaking the silence, Rejikh spoke up. "Larcosta seems to be pushed to his limits. His skill seems to magnify his abilities significantly, but in return, the damage he sustains is exponentially intensified. If he can't land a decisive blow, the dragon's fate is sealed."

Maintaining her cheerful smile, Neira responded, "I know, but if you look closer, my toy's mana has diminished significantly, and his powers appear to deplete it even faster. This fight has turned into a battle of endurance, wouldn't you say?"

"Absolutely, but the human's quick reactions against Larcosta's onslaught have definitely tilted the scales in his favor," Rejikh provided his take on the unfolding events. His assessment was on point—Larcosta now found himself at a distinct disadvantage. Secretly, Rejikh hoped that exhaustion would claim the young man first. "If this boy's growth continues at this rate, reaching godhood might not be as far off as one might think. Even my most potent creation only ascended to demi-god status in terms of power."

"Take heart, my friend. As the architect of this realm, isn't this the privilege I hold? Your assistance in this matter is greatly appreciated," Neira replied with her smile undiminished. Contemplating further, Rejikh voiced another observation, "Yet, the weapon he employed—its design, I don’t recognize it. Not even Barkenheim boasts such an artifact in his arsenal. The boy's amalgamation of imagination and knowledge from his former life truly serves him well."

On the other side, the battle raged on with undiminished intensity. Larcosta's body bore a multitude of wounds, its ebony scales stained with its own blood. Alexander too was not unscathed, his breaths came in labored heaves as exhaustion gripped him with every passing moment. Despite the toll taken by his prolonged power usage, he found strength in his determination. "It’s time to end this, don't you think?" Alexander taunted, his words punctuated by heavy breaths. Larcosta's response was a defiant roar. "Agreed, you shall die right here, right now!" the dragon retorted.

Larcosta's once majestic wings were now tattered and torn, its obsidian scales marred by the wounds of previous clashes. The sporadic flicker of its red lightning bore testament to its dwindling strength. Yet, its eyes blazed with a fierce resolve as it gathered its remaining energy for a final, desperate assault.

Alexander's breath came in ragged gasps, his form tense from the exertion of countless strikes. The radiant glow of Gram had dimmed, the blade's power drained by his repeated efforts. Nonetheless, his gaze remained unwavering, his lips curved into a determined smile, his grip unwavering on the sword's hilt. The young man’s muscles ached from the strain of expending his mana, but his spirit burned steadfastly.

With a thunderous roar, Larcosta charged forward, its claws slashing through the air. Alexander met the onslaught head-on, parrying the strikes with Gram. Each clash sent sparks flying, the collision of black scales and shimmering steel echoing across the forest which is now a desolate battlefield. The young man’s movements were slower now, every motion weighted by exhaustion.

Larcosta's maw crackled with red lightning as it unleashed a barrage of bolts towards Alexander. With a weary flourish, he deflected the bolts, each impact causing the blade to resonate with a fading glow. The ground beneath Alexander's feet trembled as he pushed back against the attack, his feet digging into the earth to maintain his stance.

Seizing a moment of break from the intense battle, Alexander closed his eyes, his fingers tightening around Gram's hilt. He drew upon the last vestiges of his mana, a surge of energy coursing through his weary body. The blade responded, glowing with renewed brilliance, its light casting an ethereal glow around the swordsman. “Let’s do this Gram. Let’s show that lizard who’s the boss around here.”

Larcosta's wings beat furiously as it prepared for one final, decisive strike. It lunged forward, claws extended, aiming to deliver a crushing blow. Alexander's eyes snapped open, and he met the Dragon's charge with a swift sidestep. “Raaaaahhhhh!”, with a burst of energy, he drove Gram into Larcosta's side, the blade sinking deep into its wounded scales. A guttural roar erupted from Larcosta as its body convulsed with agony. The red lightning that once enveloped it dimmed and sputtered, its power extinguished. With a final surge of strength, Alexander pulled Gram from the Dragon's side, the blade glowing fiercely in his hand.

Exhausted and drained, Alexander collapsed onto the muddy ground, his body vulnerable and open to further attacks. However, Larcosta was in no state to retaliate. The mighty Dragon's form wavered, a touch of mournfulness coloring its expression. "Lord Rejikh, forgive my failure," it lamented, its voice heavy with regret. "I, Larcosta, the once-proud Dragon King, find myself unworthy to face you any longer. Thus, I bid farewell to this world. Not bad little one, if I’m given a second, I’ll gladly accompany you on your future journey. " With those words, Larcosta's form erupted in a brilliant burst of light, its majestic presence fading away until it vanished from existence.
