As I sat upon the bed full of feathers and soft twigs did I feel something that I have not identified before. It grew as time passed slowly until I could finally know what may be the problem with the feelings. They were not mine, they were someone else's.
Confusion set into me as I tried to connect the dots. As my eyes roamed did I find something that immediately made sense to me. I was seeing animals in front of me and humans that were marching in my direction. The animals were huge in size with gems somewhere imbedded into there body. Almost all of them were plain brown or even onyx in nature. One stood out above the rest.
It was a wolf but it had an opal or pearl embedded into its forehead with silver fur that had traces of runes, or what looked like runes. Sure I have seen pictures of mythical creatures and even up close with statues but it does not come close to the truth right in front of me. Large the wolf was about the size of what a dire wolf would look like. But what caught my attention about the creature was the emerald eyes.
I was always a sucker for emerald eyes or green things in general. Sighing in admiration did suddenly the feelings become brighter. Like a beacon.
Fear.
Helplessness.
Sadness.
Just what was causing these emotions?
But soon my questions were answered once I've seen him.
Xinyi Chen, the first price of the Dragon Kingdom. Exiled when he was five and becoming the notorious villain of the series. Poisoned by one of the concubines of the dragon kingdom and was defenseless for twelve years. Till he found out that he was poisoned by the concubine and vowed revenge on her but she was the favored concubine.
A case of literary theft: this tale is not rightfully on Amazon; if you see it, report the violation.
In the end, he let out an all-out war at the strangest kingdom. It was bloody as no one was spared. Everyone was brutally murdered, raped, sliced, diced, hanged, drowned, even fed their soldiers for there satisfaction.
All for petty revenge.
But he is my charge now so I have to take care of him.
You know he may even become a good person even with past years of abuse by the hands of the people. Who knows? But I will give him a happy childhood even if I have to kill the emperor himself. Just as soon as I thought this did I feel a pair of eyes on me. Young ones.
Looking down I saw him staring up at me. His eyes screamed in awe and disbelief. I was soon thrilling for all to hear. That got a reaction out of everyone.
"A Pheonix?!?!?!"
"Where?!?!?!"
"We're are nowhere near a nest!!!"
Instincts kicking in I flew high into the air as I finally showed myself to the humans and, likely enough, spirit beast. My eyes were kept on the small little bun as I soon flew around, thrilling in happiness to feel the winds through my wings.
It was actually all up to my instincts and knowledge of how birds flew that was keeping me up in the air. I guess studying veterinarian science did help. Soon I found myself right in front of Xinyi Chen and crooned at him. What I figured was his guards were pointing swords and spears at me while the beast was bearing teeth and claws. Ignoring them was my best option at the moment.
Crooning and thrilling I landed on his shoulders and preened his hair to my liking. Giggling fell from his lips once I found his ticklish spot and I relentlessly attacked it to see his smile and beautiful laugh.
Minutes may have passed as I played with him and all the guards did was settle down for the night and the beast watching over us. I mostly tickled and crooned at Xinyi as I saw that he was a sweet child.

Night soon befell us as I lit a fire for Xinyi as I did not trust the guards as they kept giving me looks of either greed or nothing. As soon night befell I stayed up to watch over him as I felt that the guards would do something. Curiously enough one of them kept an orb out that recorded everything around us. I was curious though.
Why was the guard carrying an orb that showed the face of concubine Ai Chen?
