Chapter 18

“How much long do we have to travel to encounter a single village or city?”

Haruka asked Vincent who is beside her while driving the wagon. Vincent looked at her and placed his hand on his chin.

“I really don’t know but I think we’re going to see a village soon enough.”

I’m really hungry….

Haruka placed one of her hands on her tummy caressing it. Meanwhile, Grey is currently immobile because of hunger. Kathy is, as usual hugging Shirley while Artiz is looking at the empty air with Velcoz.

“I’m bored…”

Artiz said with a heavy sigh.

“That’s not important. Haruka-sama hasn’t eaten anything yesterday and we need to make sure she eats everyday so she stays healthy.”

Artiz replied with a bored look.

“She gave her share of food to the warrior so she’s hungry. It’s her fault for being an idiot.”

After saying that, Artiz felt a tremendous killing intent towards him. He slowly looked at Velcoz and if looks can kill, Artiz would’ve have died by now. Velcoz summoned a sword and pointed it at artiz waist.

Oh no, I made the wrong answer… I need to calm Velcoz down or I’m going to die.

“That’s what I thought at f-first! But I quickly realized that Haruka is a kind person so it’s natural for her to give up her share of food to the w-warrior!”

“S-so calm down!”

Artiz smiled and his index finger pointing at Velcoz’s sword. Velcoz glared at him first before making the sword disappear. After the sword disappeared, Artiz sighed in relief.

“I won’t allow any disrespect against Haruka-sama.”

“Y-yeah.”

Scary…Velcoz is really scary.

The wagon suddenly stopped moving so Velcoz and Artiz went out. They saw Haruka walking towards them.

“Hey guys~ Can you help us? We’ll find some fruit or anything that can be eaten in the forest.”

Haruka asked the two with expecting eyes.

“HELL NO.”

Artiz quickly replied but Velcoz glared at him with killing intent again so he changed his answer to “I’m just joking~ I will help!” Haruka told Kathy to guard Grey and the horses and after Kathy nodded, they immediately went to the forest to find some food. At first, Haruka saw mushrooms and was about to pick all of it when she saw the three staring at her.

“What? Don’t be picky! We don’t have much time.”

The three shook their head from left to right at the same time and the three replied to Haruka.

“Mushrooms are poisonous.”

Vincent is the first one to talk.

“Haruka-sa- I mean Haruka, mushrooms are poisonous for humans.”

Velcoz said while nodding.

“Yep! Well said Velcoz! Just eating one piece of those mushrooms will be your ticket to the afterlife.”

Haruka whose hands were about to pick the mushrooms backed off and pouted. Vincent chuckled seeing Haruka pouting. Cute…Vincent thought.

There are other foods in this forest so no need to worry! Haruka regained herself and started walking again. After walking for about five minutes, Haruka saw something that resembled an apple. She called Vincent and pointed at the apple. Vincent shook his head so Haruka gave up on the apple-like thing. She learned that the apple-like thing she saw is called Aryeb. The Aryeb has two colors which is red and yellow. The red one, which she saw earlier, is poisonous while the yellow, which is not present in the ones she saw, is the edible one.

After being lectured, the four agreed to split up so the search for food can be done quickly. Vincent is going with Haruka while Artiz and Velcoz are together. The four went separate ways and continued to search.

“I hope those two can find food…”

Haruka said to herself. Every time Haruka sees something that looks like edible, it turns out to be poisonous so she gave up searching.

“I’ll leave the food searching to you Vincent. I’m sorry for being useless…”

Haruka said in a sad tone while looking down. Vincent saw her so he quickly thought of anything good to say to cheer her up.

“Hey, don’t say you’re useless. After all, you’re not the one who ate all the food.”

“Yeah… But I let them eat all the food.”

While talking, the two saw a huge black boar. It has two long tusks which looked really sharp for some reason. They quickly hid behind a bush so the boar won’t notice them.

“A demon boar… It is edible but kinda hard to catch.”

Vincent commented while staring at the demon boar. Haruka looked at it and she saw its status.

Level 32

Demon Boar

Level 32? That’s easy! I’ll kill it quickly! Haruka slowly drew her sword and readied to dash towards the demon boar. Vincent summoned a dog from his shadow and he unsheathed his sword. He looked at Haruka and nodded signalling that the operation is starting.

The shadow dog charged at the demon boar and for some reason, the boar didn’t even pay attention to the dog that Vincent summoned. The dog barked as if it was saying “Bastard! Underestimating me?! I will kill you!”

The boar sighed as if saying “What a pain”. After closing the distance, the dog jumped at the boar.

“Let’s go!”

Vincent whispered to Haruka and started running at high speed.

“Y-yeah!”

He’s too fast…

Haruka started running too. While running, she looked at the dog. The dog is in mid air and a lot of black thick strings came out of its body. The strings quickly entwined the body of the boar, preventing it to resist. The boar, whose body was covered with black strings just snorted and stomped on the ground with one of its feet producing a huge shockwave that even Haruka felt from fifteen meters of distance.

“What the heck?!”

Are all Demon beasts this strong?

Haruka stabbed the ground with her sword and held onto it. The dog was blown away because of the shockwave but the boar suddenly screamed like it’s in pain and suddenly fell down.

“Huh? What happened to the boar?”

Haruka looked closely and she saw a huge black sword stabbed on the boar and after a few seconds, the sword disappeared into thin air. Vincent appeared out of nowhere and started to drag the body of the huge boar.

“How did you-“

Before Haruka could finish her question, Vincent smiled at her and called her to help him.

After coming back, Haruka and Vincent saw a huge pile of dead demon boars near the wagon. The two stopped dragging the boar they killed and stared at dead bodies of boars. The dead boars are 12 all in all.

Those two! They shouldn’t show off! What if Vincent thinks they’re suspicious? I need to lecture those two later *sigh*

“Oh! They’re back! Let’s see what they hav- huh?”

Grey who welcomed the two stared at the boar that they’re dragging. Grey made a face of disgust.

“You only caught one?! You’re really useless Vincent! I should’ve have come with Haruka! We would have brought back a lot of food!”

“……..”

Vincent ignored Grey and he continued dragging the boar with Haruka.

“Don’t ignore me! Haruka~ Why didn’t you asked me to come with you?~”

Grey went near Haruka and started asking her. Haruka slowly looked at Grey. Her eyes were so cold and it has no life at all.

“Shut up. You have no right to call Vincent useless. Your existence is useless itself. Now, don’t show yourself in front of me”

Haruka went into the back of the wagon leaving Grey behind. Vincent called Artiz and Velcoz and started cooking one of the boars. Grey didn’t move a single step from his spot and he remained standing there all night. He rejected the cooked meat despite of hunger.

Haruka saw this and she felt guilty. Kathy was about to ask Grey again to eat but Haruka took Grey’s share of food and told Kathy that she will take the food to Grey since she said some harsh things to him. She went to Grey and she saw that he’s now sitting while holding his knees. She stopped walking and smiled looking at him.

This idiot. Well, I should apologize to him now.

She started walking again. Grey seemed to heard footsteps so he looked at the source of it and he saw Haruka. He quickly looked away.

“Geez, that’s not like you at all”

Haruka sat beside Grey and she elbowed him. Grey looked at her and then he looked down.

“Hey, hey, where is the energetic Grey I know? Where is he?”

Grey only stared at Haruka. She smiled at him and gave him his food.

“Eat. I will punch you if you don’t eat. Also, I apologize for what I said earlier. I kind of got overboard earlier. Anyway, just eat.”

“Uuuuuu!Hyarukya!”

“Hey! Don’t hug me! Stop it!”

Grey became teary eyed and he started to hug Haruka. Haruka tried to get away but Grey’s grip is really strong so she gave up. She sighed in defeat and let Grey hug her.

“I thought you don’t want to see me again…”

“I didn’t mean it that way ok? Eat now and let me go. I’ll take my food here and I’ll eat with you.”

Grey released Haruka and he started eating. Haruka stood up and started walking when she heard Shirley’s voice.

“Fufufu, this is getting interesting~”

“Shut up. Your brain processing is wrong. I don’t like Grey. Do you understand that?”

Haruka glared at Shirley.

“Not yet. You don’t like either one of them YET. Why not live as a girl now? Is it really worth it? Thinking that you’re still a man?”

“For now, I’m still thinking that I’m a man. It’s hard to accept that I’m a girl now. Furthermore, a god made me a girl for his entertainment. Do you think I will be able to accept it that easily?”

Haruka ended their conversion. Shirley went in the wagon to lie down while Haruka went to get her food. Meanwhile, a figure of a man on top of a tree appeared while smiling. He is wearing a black long robe.

“That girl has the blessing of Aphrodite huh? I can feel a spell by Regulus in her too but it’s faint. That girl is quite delicious isn’t she? Naia-sama?”

As if talking to the wind, the man smiled and laughed. The man jumped down and after landing, he started to walk away with a huge grin on his face.

“Yes, yes. The Dark Paladin who interrupted us last time is there too right? Yes, yes! Hmmm, I see!”

The man spun his body around while his hands are on the air. He kept nodding and nodding and nodding.

“All of them? Oh no! Please don’t say that Naia-sama! With pleasure! I will kill all of them for you! Hahahahahaha!”

The man laughed out loud while his left hand covered his face while laughing. Black Aura came out of him and covered him. After a few moments, the black aura disappeared with the man.

“*Yawn* Ahhhh…”

Haruka stretched her body and stood up. It was still midnight. She saw Grey, Vincent, Kathy, Shirley and Artiz with her inside the wagon sleeping. She slowly walked in the wagon and went out.

Velcoz must be tired. I’ll switch with him.

She went to the front seat and sat beside Velcoz.

“You’re awake early. Is there any problem Haruka-sama?”

“Nah, I’m just going to switch with you. You might be tired. I can manage from here. Get some sleep Velcoz.”

Velcoz shook his head. Haruka wondered why Velcoz was shook his head.

Is there a problem? What’s with him?

“Is there a problem? If you’re worried about me, then don’t be! I can manage by mysel-“

“There is a problem. A huge problem.”

Velcoz immediately replied with a serious tone.

“May I ask what it is?”

Haruka asked looking confused.

Did I do something bad? I don’t remember pissing off Velcoz…

“I felt a dangerous power near us a while ago.”

“Dangerous power?An enemy?”

“Yeah… I can’t pinpoint his exact location earlier. Maybe he used some ability. He even let his aura burst near us. He must be confident that he can kill us.”

Haruka was shocked because she didn’t even felt or know that there is an enemy near them. She clenched her fists. Velcoz saw this and he immediately said something.

“This enemy is not an enemy you will be able to fight even if you use your power-up mode Haruka-sama. Don’t think of fighting this enemy. Let me and Artiz handle this. We will protect you and your comrades.”

I can’t fight? How strong is this one? How many are they?

“Did Artiz felt it too?”

“Yes. He said that the enemy is just as strong as him or maybe stronger…”

“…… How many are they?”

“We felt only one.”

Haruka sighed in relief.

“-But we should be on guard. We don’t really know the exact number of enemies and they know how many we are. The fact that they haven’t attack is they are preparing for battle. Reinforcements? How did he? That’s not the problem. I should be prepared.

Morning arrived and no enemies have been detected by Velcoz. Haruka looked around and she saw a building near. She stood up and she saw a village. After waiting for a while, they arrived at the village. There is a sign saying “Welcome to Arus Village!”.Haruka jumped down and she ordered Velcoz to wake everyone up. She went in the village. After walking for five seconds, she noticed something off about this village.

Why is it so quiet? I don’t even see a single soul… Are the people still sleeping?

She proceeded to the first house. Thud, thud, thudthe sound of knocking. Haruka knocked on the door but the door was open. She went in and looked around in the house. There was food in the table but the food is rotten and smelled really bad.

What the?! What’s with the people here?! Leaving their food to rot! That’s bad manners!

“Where are the people here? I’ll give them a long lecture.”

She went up the stairs and opened every door. Every room is empty and there is one last door so she went there and opened it. A lot of Flies welcomed her so she fell down and she closed her eyes because there were a lot of flies. When the flies went away, a scent much worst than the smell of the rotten food on the table came into her nose.

What is this?! It smells so bad! I’m about to puke!

She opened her eyes and she saw something that made her froze. Her body trembled. A body whose tummy is open and its organs missing were displayed. Its feet was cut into pieces, the skin of the face is removed, the fingers removed, and a sword stabbed on the head. There were other parts of the body but it can’t be identified anymore because some were smashed and cut into little pieces on the floor. There is also a head on the floor with its skin removed too.

“W-w-wha-what is this…?”

Haruka couldn’t move at all. It’s like something is holding her. There is a large sign on the floor made of blood. In animes it is called a magic circle. On the wall, there also something written out of blood. “Serve the Faceless God!”

“F-faceless g-g-god?What the h-hell?!”

Haruka was lost in thoughts. While she was lost in thoughts, something made a sound in the room.

“H-huh? What?”

At the same time, Harukaheard Grey and the others calling her. She ignored them and took her sword out. Her hands continued to tremble but she entered the room to check what that noise is.

Relax! Relax myself! Damn it! I can’t stop trembling!

There is another door so Haruka checked it first. It was the bathroom and she saw the organs dumped on the bathroom sink. She immediately closed the door because staring at it any longer will make her puke.

I’m surprised that I can still endure not to puke…

The last thing that caught her attention is the huge cabinet. She pointed her sword at it and reached for the handle. She slowly opened it and a child is in it. It’s a little girl. She was covering her head with her two hands while trembling. The girl has black hair and pale skin.

A little girl?

“I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m sorry”

The little girl repeatedly apologized. Her clothes were so dirty that anyone would think she’s a beggar.Haruka placed her sword back in its scabbard and kneel down.

“Hey, I’m not going to hurt you. What’s your name?”

The little girl didn’t reply and her trembling didn’t show any sign that it’s going to stop.

The little girl must’ve seen how her parents got killed… I have to take her out of here.

“Come with onee-chan. I will not hurt you. It’s still dangerous here so come with me okay?”

The little girl nodded but her trembling didn’t stop. Haruka carried the child out of the house and she was about to go to the wagon when she saw Artiz running to her.

“We’ve been searching for you. Wait, who is that girl?”

The girl hugged Haruka as if she was hiding. Haruka ignored Artiz and went straight to the wagon. Artiz followed her and after they arrived at the wagon, Haruka gently placed down the little girl inside. When she was about to leave, the girl pulled her clothes. Haruka didn’t expect that but she smiled at the little girl.

“Onee-chan will just go away for just a few minutes. But I will go back quickly okay?”

Haruka patted the girl on the head and she reached for some food and gave it to the little girl.

“Eat this and be a good girl okay?”

The little girl nodded and started to eat.

“Artiz”

“What is it?”

“Guard this girl with your life. Got it?”

“Yes, your majesty~”

Haruka went to the town again and she saw Kathy waiting beside a church. She doesn’t know if it really is a church since this world is not the same with her previous life.

“Uhm, onee-chan… This village is-“

“I know.”

Kathy pointed at the back of the church and started walking. As they walked, they heard Grey screaming.

“What the hell is this?! Who would do this?! I can’t believe what I’m seeing!”

Arriving at the back of the church, Haruka saw piles of dead bodies. Organs, heads and other parts of the body scattered everywhere. Child and old, they were mixed and again, Haruka saw the magic circle made of blood.

“This is the doing of the ‘Faceless God Followers’”

Vincent started to talk after being silent for so long.

“Faceless God Followers?”

Haruka asked while Vincent placed his right hand on his forehead and looked down.

“We already annihilated them so, why? Why are they here again?!”

Vincent said while gritting his teeth.

“This “Faceless God Followers” is a cult huh?”

Shirley asked with a serious face while Vincent answered.

“Yeah and a very dangerous one.”
