Chapter 19- Prey and pray

The monster finally made Its move. Without wasting time, Yuji used his Ironclad Impetus. With this, his strength increased close to 2.5.

“Fuck. If I die, I’ll take you down.” Turning his gaze back to the approaching monster, Yuji braced himself for the onslaught. The creature moved with terrifying speed, covering half the distance in the blink of an eye. With a steady hand and unwavering determination, Yuji readied himself to meet the creature head-on.

Schhnick

At this moment, with an air-perching sound, something hit the monster. The dog monster immediately fell to the ground with its head pierced on the ground.

For a few fleeting moments, the creature convulsed and writhed, its body contorting in agony as the numbing effects of the strike took hold. With each passing second, its movements grew weaker until finally, it lay still, finally dead.

“Where did this arrow came from.” Yuji looked at the almost two feet long arrow that pierced the dog monster’s head and the raw of tree before him.

“I just wasted my buff for no reason.” Yuji thought to himself as he kept looking toward the arrow that killed the dog monster.

After almost half an hour of standing in one place, Yuji heard footsteps. Looking toward the sounds, he noticed a goblin slowly emerge from behind a tree, clutching a bow and arrow and a short knife at its waist. Its small, twisted form moved cautiously through the shadows, eyes darting for any signs of danger as it slowly approached the dog monster it hunted.

The goblin stopped before the dog and glanced at Yuji and just ignored. After that the goblin take out the small knife from its waist. As the goblin raised the knife to stab the dog, a sharp, piercing sound tore through the air, reverberating through the forest causing the goblin to froze on it’s place.

As Yuji looked at the goblin he noticed the goblin’s panicked expression. As the goblin was about to run away, with a thunderous impact, something struck the goblin with incredible force, sending it hurtling to the ground.

For a brief moment, time seemed to slow down as the goblin's headless body twitched and convulsed in agony. Its limbs jerked involuntarily, a last futile attempt to resist the overwhelming numbness that enveloped it. But soon, even these feeble movements ceased, and the forest fell silent once more. The only sound left was the soft rustle of leaf in the breeze.

‘What the hell was that!’ Yuji looked toward the headless goblin and around himself in search for what killed this monster and noticed a bird like figure hovering above his head.

Yuji regret ever coming. If he wasn’t curious, if he didn’t thought about gaining essence faster, if he had just listen to the system. Now, he doesn’t even know what’s happening. There's one strong monster coming after another.

[ Warning you have encountered ..

Slowly, the monster descended on the ground as it stirred a big wind. Surprisingly, the bird monster completely ignored Yuji and looked at the dog monster and goblin with water dripping from its mouth.

Yuji kept looking at the bird monster, but he didn’t move. The slightest move can capture this monster's attention and this monster will probably decided to end him before eating its meal.

Now that he think about this, he felt like he become a bait the moment he came to this place. First it was the goblin and then the bird.

He slowly started moving as silently as possible. But his whole body stiffened when the bird monster gave him a side-eye. He felt an ominous aura descended on him, completely restricting his movement.

‘Sigh, is this where everything ends?

At this moment, the sky suddenly darken and a voice reached his ears. “Should I do it?”

As he shift his toward the voice he noticed two figures, motionless. They seemed suspended, as if tethered to an unseen force. Then, a sudden movement—a hand raised, and a voice pierced the air.

"Heavenly thunder!"

In an instant, lightning crackled and descended upon the monstrous bird creature, grounding it with a force that shattered its attempts to flee, leaving it quivering in fear.

The figure In the sky continued their onslaught, relentless bolts of lightning striking the bird monster until its once vibrant feathers turned to charcoal and the creature lay defeated, a smoldering remnant of its former self.

Yuji stood there in disbelief, his mouth hanging open for a few moments. This was unlike anything he had ever witnessed before. As the figures gradually descended to the ground, Yuji's astonishment only grew. Finally, as they drew closer, he could discern their features. One was a boy, and the other, a girl.

The girl looks in her early twenties, possesses a youthful and delicate appearance. Her soft, almond-shaped eyes, the color of chestnuts, sparkle with curiosity and intelligence. Framing her heart-shaped face, her silky ebony hair cascades down her back in gentle waves, adorned with a colorful hairpin intricately woven into her hair. Her hair is tied back neatly, with strands gently framing her face. Her body is covered in a modest yet elegant attire, leaving only her face exposed, radiating with warmth and kindness.

As for the boy he is around 15, exudes confidence with a mischievous glint in his obsidian eyes. His black hair, styled with youthful charm, falls casually over his forehead. Clad in a expensive looking robe, his presence is both commanding and playful, hinting at a hidden fierceness beyond his years.

Without hesitation Yuji used the skill ‘language’, which will grant him the ability to understand any species for half an hour. This is the perfect chance to use this skill. He wants to know his fate.

First it was a dog like monster, second was a goblin, something everyone consider one of the lowest ranking monster, and the third is the bird and now this two.

"You have grown stronger, Liu," said the girl as they approached the dead bodies of the monsters.

"I am still too weak compared to you, sis Xiaomei," said Liu.

"If you had listened to the master's teachings like I did, you would have been a lot stronger," replied Xiaomei after a few seconds of silence, not denying what Liu said. “You should stop relying solely on your thunder skill. There are lots of people who can counter it.”
