***Tom***

Seriously. That dog is one heck of a headache. Thank gods it's sleep time. Every student here would die out of curiosity to see a human. Has it ever happened while I was in school? Hmm… Never mind that. No matter if there is a show or not, how will we explain this to the headmaster? Even though they are rare, punishments still exists in this school, and they are so not pretty. I remember th time when two werewolves who got into an ugly fight and one of them accidentally bit a neko-girl. Doctors went through a lot of trouble to keep her from transforming to a werewolf. Don’t know what exactly was the punishment, but those two guys weren’t in school for a month. Everyone thought they got expelled, but then they returned and they acted strangely every time a cat would pass by. They would answer to no one what happened to them during the time they were gone.

Gin’s face is getting darker by a minute. Even he can’t be calm about it. Serves him right; it’s his own fault after all. But that still is really strange; Gin would be the last person I would tell that would make such a major mistake. It was all because of that witch! That’s it!

“I know! You’re a witch! They exist even among humans!” – Aha! I saw through her!

“What the hell are you screaming about, calm yourself down, we’re here.” – Fox is looking at me like I have no brain. It’s true; we are already in front of headmaster’s office. Good luck, Gin!

*knock-knock*

“Come in, come in!” – said the voice from inside happily.

“Sorry for interrupting.” – It was Gin who entered the office first. Fox went after him like he can’t wait for things to happen sooner.

I myself am about to enter when I notice that dog is standing few meters away behind and staring into our direction with a strange grimace.

“What? You need to go to the toilet?”

“No! I just don’t know if this is a smart idea, after all…” – she said being all fidgety.

I can’t believe it. I seriously cannot believe it. She went with us from her school to the park, from that park to our world, and from there to our school, to now question everything?! In front of the final stop? Well, would you look at that, maybe she has some brain in that weird head of hers.

*sigh*

“Look. This is your own way of handling things, right? What happens happens. Besides, I wouldn’t be much surprised even if you turn everything to your own likings. You did that until now after all, right?”

I don’t know why, but I said something to encourage her. I guess I should do that from time to time. After all, she’s sort of a dog, obviously. She needs to be trained. When she starts to act normal like that, I'll say something nice to encourage that normal behavior! Yeah, that’ll change that weird side of hers!

“Hmm, you’re probably right….” – Muahahaha, now she’s even more confused because I acted nicely! Good, good… I hold the door while smiling.

Finally, she enters the room and I follow her. Headmasters’ office changes every week. It’s a good strategy, actually. That way everyone who tries to remember schedule of things can simply forget it. It's an enigma.

Now, the office has comfortable atmosphere. When you enter, the headmasters’ desk is on the right in the corner looking at the entrance. There’s a small, round window on the wall right next to it. A small ray of light is pointing at the shelf that’s to the desks’ right. There are just a few books and the rest of it is some unrecognizable stuff. It’s quite normal for our headmaster to own useless old things that might not even function anymore.

In front of the desk are two smaller chairs. In the left front corner is an armchair, and in the right back corner, right next to the entrance, is a small pouf seating.  That’s also one weird thing. Every time I entered here, there were exactly that much sitting places as people that would come. It’s like our coming here is predicted.

I remember once coming into a mansion-like office! This office can change sizes as well. Compared to that time, this looks like a small wardrobe…

I don’t understand why do they go through so much trouble though, it’s just an office, it’s not like there can be anything that much important. The only things that come to my mind are students' documents. There are family backgrounds and description of every kind of a monster, so if someone wants to find out something about a certain kind of being, he can easily read it from those documents. But they are placed underground in a basement and have strict super visioning.  And even if someone wants to find something out about other youkai, it can already be learned in classes. Man, so much cautiousness for nothing!

When I entered, Gin was already sitting in an armchair, while Fox and Melissa were about to sit in front of the desk. I decided to stand and leaned on the wall. Should have brought myself some pop-corns…

“Well, would you look at that? I haven’t had myself a human sitting in my office for 498 years until now! And that’s a long time, even for us!” – Headmaster said with a smiley face.

He is one really warm person. He actually looks like an old gentleman. White smooth face, shoulder length white hair and slender body.  And he wasn't kidding, he is quite old, even for his own kind. I suspect that he discovered something like Philosopher’s stone that makes him immortal, but if I said that to someone, they would probably pronounce me mad.

Either that or he has some really strong genes that came from the first Immortals. But we learned in History that they were long gone for some reason and no one remembers why exactly. There is small amount of information about them as well, so they are considered myth. It’s something just a few is interested in studying.

Even though for the most of the times he’s nice and kind, everyone respects him and some even fear him. And after those two werewolves guys accident, I decided to keep a distance as well.

“Grandfather…” – oh, yeah! He’s also Gin’s grandfather. That definitely proves my instincts to avoid any possible conflict with him. Blood is thicker than water, and I can only imagine what that grandfather of his is capable of.

“Now, now, Gin, have some patience, your grandfather will turn his attention to you soon enough, not to worry! I would really like to exchange some words with this young lady in front of me. Would anyone tell me what’s her name?”

Her name, what was it again…? “Oh, that’s right; we don’t even know your name. We just kept calling you nicknames.” – said Fox. “Well, whichever it is, I think I will stick to Birdy, since you already have a nickname for me.” – He said happily like we’re normally introducing ourselves. Am I the only one who finds this matter rather serious?

“Melissa Waters.”

Unexpectedly, it was Gin who answered. Everyone turned behind and looked in his direction.

“I had to look at your student ID when you passed out in the park. It was to look for your address.”

“Oh, I see. That makes sense.” – said our new doggy while turning herself to face the headmaster again.

No, it does NOT make any sense! It would have been enough to just look at the address, name is not that that important. Well, even if he looked for just in case, Gin would never, EVER, remember someone’s name. Heck, it took him 10 years to remember mine! Fox was exception since they practically lived like brothers, spending every day together.

“I see… well, nice to meet you, Melissa. My name is prof. Alister. I’m glad that we speak the same language; that will be of much convenience for us!” – Headmaster said like he’s interviewing her.

“Now, tell me. Which one of these youngsters bit you?”

“How did you know?!” – all three of us are somewhat shocked. We already knew he’s capable of knowing a lot of things, but how did he know this one?? There’s no way that dog is having an aura of a monster yet! Even though she’s definitely one, I can tell…

“Unfortunately, it’s not like I have that much knowledge about everything. It’s just a common sense. Why would you other than that bring me a human here? Certainly not to have a bite myself! It’s just a little strange that you didn’t leave her with a memory loss and just report your case to us so we can supervise her ourselves. So, Melissa, which one did it?”

“I did.” – Again was Gin the one who answered. That man is keep acting stranger and stranger. It’s not like Gin is shy, so he doesn’t talk much. He just doesn’t bother himself with anything. Maybe he feels responsible for this one for once. Hmm…

“Heavens, Gin! I haven’t exchanged a word with this girl! I can’t believe I’m saying this, but could you just shut up and not answer to a couple of questions from now on?”

“…”

“Melissa, dear… How come you’re here at the Rose Academy?” – prof. Alister calms himself and kindly looks at Doggy. “Oh, but how rude of me, I haven’t offered anything to drink for you! Would you like to drink something?” – he’s already lifting his pot and about to pour something into a cup in front of her.

“Oh, thank you, I’m not actual-ah! Cocoa! Well, since you already have one made, I’d like to drink a cup, thank you!” – Doggy is surprised by his trick. Little does she know that he was reading her in order to find out her likings and poof! By one of his multiple abilities, he made cocoa appear in the pot.

“Fox, the usual?” – he asks Fox while pouring him black coffee from the same pot he poured cocoa into a Doggy’s cup.

“Oh, you know me so well” – Fox grins. I can’t understand how could someone find something so bitter tasty.

“Tom, you still like milk-tea, I suppose.” – Alister looks at me.

“I do, but I’m not thirsty. Thank you, headmaster.”

“Gin, caramel milk for you?”

“…”

“Geez, no need to act like a child! Don’t sulk because grandfather raised his voice a little, you’re such a spoiled kid.” , he chuckles.

It’s amazing how he keeps teasing that Gin. Not many adults joke with him, that’s how scary he can get. He once put his own older brother in hospital for two months. No one spoke about the incident, but Gin was never looked the same way by his family or society. His brother is no joke either and everyone knew that already, so when he got beaten up by Gin, they were all shocked. Strange thing is his brother didn’t ask for a punishment for Gin. They just acted like nothing happened. In fact, it seems to me like their relationship between them got better since then.

“Wow! How did you do that? Would it work the same if I poured the drink?”

Look at her. A child. That’s what she is. A child impressed by a trick.

“It’s easy! Our headmaster can manipulate atoms, so he’s able to change the structure and combination of a thing to his likings. With infusing his own energy, he can transform everything he touches from one material into another. It’s about rearranging protons, electrons and neutrons. In this case it’s already liquid he’s changing so it’s is no big deal!” – Fox explained.

“Hahaha! You like it? Well, unfortunately, it’s something only I am capable of and it works solely by me…”

Too late. Melissa is already pouring herself some cocoa. Next thing, she is pouring more caramel milk to Gin. I’m so shocked that I’m not even surprised by her anymore.

“Hmm… interesting…”- headmaster finally becomes serious. ”Melissa, let me guess. You have your memories from the night Gin bit you, correct?”

“Yeah.”, she said while sipping her cocoa and looked at him across the edge of the cup.

“In that case, you definitely have something to do with our world. And that you could easily copy my abilities proved it. The most possible reason could be that one of your ancestors is monster by nature. We already had cases like that, where human child starts to change at a certain point or where they remain human for the rest of their life.

However, we hadn’t had a case in which that kind of child was bitten by a vampire. Therefore, we should keep an eye on you. We will see if you’ll turn out to be another kind of monster, or if you’ll become a vampire.

There’s small chance for it, but you can also keep being human. In this school, we also have a doctor who could look you up and probably diagnose your case and even predict results. Unfortunately, winter holidays started today and she left with a number of students for her field trip. She will meet you soon after that. Meanwhile, make yourself comfortable; try to make friends with other students. But! Not with vampire students. That means you will act like you never even met these three.”

“What?!” – Fox finally stopped fantasizing about their little friendship. His ego was that much hurt from not being able to trick little Doggy with his personality that he probably started scheming something to get on her good side. Hehehe, what’ll you do now, Fox?

“What about transfer papers, classes, room? What’ll I tell, how did I end up here?” – she loses no time with her questions again.

“We will send reassignment papers to your school, don’t worry. You tell everyone for now that you have someone in your family that is a monster and that they wanted to have you here just in case. They wouldn’t tell you what kind of monster that is so you yourself don’t know what’ll you turn out to be. I must warn you, humans are not welcome by all in this world. Just like monsters wouldn’t be in yours. So prepare yourself to have some conflicts. Still, that doesn’t allow you to make a mess in my school. After all, I demand harmony and respect for any kind of being; no matter of which kind.”, in that one moment  he turns terrifying, and then all smiley again.

“We have divided classes in two halves. In first half, you are combined with all kind of monsters of your age, while in second half, you’re together with just your own kind. With everyone you study History, Science, Languages, Physics and Math. When divided from each other, you study Biology, Social Skills, P.E. and the field your kind experts in. For example, mermaids have Music classes, while snow people have Ice-Sculpturing. There is also one more class that is secret to all the other species.” – I decided to be kind once again and explain everything to her. Hmph!

“That’s right. But you don’t have to worry about it for now. You must be tired now, Melissa. You will find out everything about classes in time. I will have someone escort you in your room. Phelippe!” – a small chameleon like creature appeared next to Headmaster.

“I’m on my way. Follow me, Mrs. Melissa!” – he said while opening the doors and waiting for Doggy to exit first.

“But, what about my clothes? I didn’t bring anything with myself to change into…” – Doggy looks confused again.

“Don’t worry about that, there will be a uniform waiting for you in your room. Afterwards, you’ll be able to buy yourself some clothes. Now, off you go! There is a sleep to make up to.” he rushes her.

Doggy left the room. Now we are faced with somewhat angered headmaster.

“What have you done, Gin.”
