***Melissa***
If I understood it well, they are taking me to some sort of Academy now where I’ll get answers. Or even more questions? *sigh*… Somehow, it’s clear that there is something odd about me. According to those three, I act different than other humans. I was supposed to blank out after being bitten and lay in bed for at least a day? Is that how it usually goes? And how does it usually actually goes?
“Hey, Gin! How often do you bite people? And what are the side effects from it?” – I hurry so I can catch up with Gin’s long steps.
”…”
I could have thought that he wouldn’t answer me. He definitely dislikes me. Do they bite people who they don’t like? After all, Tom wasn’t considerate with that girl from yesterday…
“…We are allowed to go out once a month to drink human blood. Nothing special happens to them; they just pass out and are in need of some long rest. We are able to eat normal food as well, but blood is more…hmm… nutritious to us. It’s not like we must drink exclusively blood from humans, it’s just that it’s tastier than from… well, other creatures.” – Unexpectedly, he answered.
“Hmmm… but by which criteria do you choose from which human you’ll take blood?” – somehow, it feels like I won’t get the answer on that one.
”…”
...just like I thought.
“There are couple of rules for us that go out to drink blood.” – Suddenly Tom starts talking. “And one of them is that we mustn’t drink from human that aren’t 18 yet.”
”Why is that?” – I slow down so I can walk next to Tom. Seems like he is finally willing to spill some beans about them!
"At that age they are physically old just like a 100 years old vampire, and that is when we become adults."
"Whaaa... how come your physics are that much different from ours?" - now that's interesting!
“Well… where to start from?... We have somewhat difficult, extended aging system. When females get impregnated, they carry their child for two years. So when the child is born he is already as old as 1 year old human. But he looks just like a newborn. And he stays like that for next three years.”
Carrying it for two years? A newborn of three years?? Wow, being a vampire mother sounds like a really exhausting job…
“It’s not that horrible as it sounds like. Vampire children develop their minds earlier so it’s easier than with human newborns. It’s just that their physical look is slower at developing.”
It’s not that horrible? This may be even worse, having a newborn baby that’s already acting like a three years old child or even older? Geez, that somehow sounds creepy...
”Then we are equal to human 2-years-old when we’re 4 years old. And until human 10-years-old, our one year last for two years. So we’re actually 20 by then.” – Tom continues to explain it like it’s no big deal to understand.
”After our 20’s, or yours 10’s, yours one year is equal to ours ten. Well, considering just the looks, though.” – He smirked superbly and looked at me. I just roll my eyes.
”So when we turn 100, we look like a human who turns 18. Then, he is at the age when we are turning into adults. And if human was bitten before becoming of that age, he is possible to transform into an adult vampire.” – Tom stopped his long explanation.
A case of literary theft: this tale is not rightfully on Amazon; if you see it, report the violation.
“WHAT? Are you telling me I’m turning into a vampire?!” – now that is sooo not good news…
“Easy there! Don’t flatter yourself! Just a few of your kind was able to transform; and those who were-”
”That’s enough for now. She already knows too much for a human.” – Gin interrupted Tom and stopped him from explaining their nature any further. Tom looks sort of embarrassed and guilty now.
*chuckles*
”Having fun being talkative for a change, Tom?” – Fox appeared from behind.
I didn’t even notice that we were at the park again; but not near the pavilion. We were somehow deeper in it, and surrounded by trees and bushes. Strange, I have walked through this park a lot of times, but I can’t remember this spot...
”Here will be fine.” – Gin stopped walking so all of us stopped as well. He kneeled down with his left knee and put his right palm on the ground. Suddenly, ground started shaking and everything around them started to spin. And just as fast it had happened, it stopped that fast as well. I was still can't process what’s going on.
’’Welcome to our world ♥!” – Fox put a hand on my back and gently pushed me forward.
What their world? We are still at the park! Are they pulling my leg?! And then I notice… we really are at the park; but somehow, it's different. Benches are in the same places, but they are differently looking. Even street lamps look different....
*sigh*
I am already tired of being confused and not understanding what’s happening…
”We teleported just now. From your world to ours. Our world looks very similar to yours.” – Fox explained looking at me with empathy in his eyes.
“So it’s like parallel universe?” – Melissa asks.
”Not exactlly... More like mirror planet. While your world is, let’s say, human-world and there live only humans, our world is Yōkai*-world. Here live only monsters and demons. ” – Fox said it nonchalantly.
This was the first time that I actually don’t want to question them anything, anymore. There are other supernatural beings other than vampires?!
As we continue to walk, we arrive at the same place that my school should have been. Instead, at this spot there was huuuge mansion-like building. More than a mansion, it looks a castle!
”And now, welcome to St. Rose Academy ♥! School for all kinds of Yōkai” – Fox said proudly.
”That’s the school you go to?!!”
*hmph*
”…”
"And also a school that you will attend from now with us!" - Fox sounded happier than ever...
