With a deep sigh of relief Jason relaxed his tensed body. He looked over to see Leviticus smiling as he walked towards him while attaching his bow to his back.
Laughing in joy, Leviticus yelled over to Jason, "That was f*cking fantastic man!" A huge smile crept over his face as he began massaging his left shoulder, "That was the first major demon I've ever killed! With you here that was just like shooting ducks in a pond! Man, I almost ran out of arrows!"
Leviticus thumped Jason on his back and stood next to him, eagerly awaiting the rewards The System had yet to give them.

Upon seeing this message, Jason's heart felt like it was constricted by a boa constrictor. System Announcement was a message that every user in the game would receive. This was a rare announcement that many people would attempt to attain as it meant instant fame and success. All sorts of guilds and high-profile companies would attempt to recruit any players that had their name announced by The System.
This also brought about a ton of attention from thieves and people with not-so-good intentions. Now that everyone knew he had such an item and a small fortune, he would become the most wanted man in this game. He had just become a high-profile target on the first day of the game; to all the Users in the game this was an unimaginable feat as they were still working on completing their basic quests of kill X number of goblins. Now, there were many Users who wouldn't rest until they had killed him and taken all his possessions for their personal benefit.

With The System announcing his attainment of a Mythical Treasure Chest he would become hunted by everyone, and his bounty of a mythical item was something that would always last. Even eight years from the beginning of the game, Mythical Ranked items were a scarcity, and there were only eight items that were known to the public that held the rank of mythical. This was insane since by that time the amount of Users in-game had reached up to the tens of billions.
What the public didn't know either was that Jason didn't just have the Mythical Chest that The System had announced, but a second Mythical Chest he had obtained from the quest bonus reward.
Jason sighed and glanced up since in the location where Shrarzoks corpse had fallen, lights were coalescing into loot. He glanced at Leviticus to see what his intentions were.
Noticing his glance, Leviticus smiled and clapped Jason on the shoulder, "It's all yours friend. I would've died as a sacrifice to that demon if it weren't for you, and I owe you a life debt. This loot is yours, I only ask that you allow me to travel with you in your future adventures."
Jason peered into Leviticus' eyes, trying to discern what his intentions were. From what he could see, Leviticus truly intended to travel with him and didn't have any ulterior motives. Time would tell though; after all, it had only taken Steven a good enough offer to betray him.
Glancing back at the loot, Jason saw a pure black orb floating in the air. A dark mist was emanating from this orb and the light in the room seemed to be avoiding this orb, almost bending around it to avoid touching it.
As Jason approached the orb, he could feel himself becoming colder and it almost seemed as if time slowed down the closer he came.
As Jason arrived in front of this strange orb, he placed his hand underneath it and attempted to lift it in the air. As he raised his hand, the orb seemed to float several inches from his hand, almost as if it were refusing to touch his hand.
[System Message – Nyx's Inheritance – Class – Grade ???
Description – Before Nyx left the mortal realm, she prepared an inheritance for a mortal worthy of Her. You have been chosen to be taught the ways of Nyx, do you accept?
Reward: Unique Class
Note – Choice cannot be undone. Experience cost will be 5x higher, and tests will be given as you level. Failure to complete these tests will result in death.]
Jason stared at the item that lay in front of him. This was an inheritance; a class change item that very few Users had been able to obtain in his past life. Inheritances were basically Unique Classes that were handed down from the Gods and were incredible paths to power. They were filled with fantastic abilities but were also known for being incredibly dangerous paths to power. Nine times out of ten, when someone would attempt an inheritance path they would fail and have to restart their character from the very beginning.
The more powerful the being that left behind an inheritance, the more difficult the trials would become.
Jason remembered Nyx from not only the lore of Socrathia, but also the lore on Earth. Nyx was the Goddess of the Night, one of the first primordial beings to awaken. Her strength was so great that not even the mighty god Zeus would dare to offend her. She was the Empress of the Night, the Monarch of Shadows, and Ruler of the Dark; none could defy her whims.
She was one of the most powerful gods to have existed in the past, and he had obtained the opportunity to acquire her legacy.
Accepting this legacy though was going to be a huge risk. Let alone the experience point demand, he knew that the tests from the legacy would be nigh impossible to complete.
Jason knew though that nothing worth having ever came easy, and so he knew he had to risk it all for his future, and his family's future. Without any hesitation he replied to The System.
"Accept."
