Takagi fell dormant head on first into bed, exhaust by his mundane and daily activities.
“Will it ever become better than this hellish life I am living now?” Takagi talked with his face stuffed into his beloved and comforting pillow. “I guess not, time to sleep,” Takagi yawned and closed his eyes.
As Takagi turned around to grab the other half of his pillow and blanket something felt amiss, hence it was not the blanket or the pillow he felt as he firmly grasped with his palm.
“What the..” Takagi gasped tiredly and first took a notice of his surroundings.
Grass. Takagi had turned around and opened his eyes to find himself in a meadow with soft tickling grass beneath him. Around Takagi there was a lot of commotion, an excess noise he just could not ignore as it was a language he recognized and his thoughts were “please shut up, it is in the middle of the night folk!”. Taking another good look around a beam of light came shunning into Takagi’s eyes that adapted slowly to the bright light which he had initially thought was a ray of light from some outer source.
“Where are we?” A female voice was heard.
“What is going on?” Another one followed.
“Relax, everyone look around you first,” A male voice tried to soothe the situation while attaining an appearance of being calm and collected.
Takagi yawned as he arose and took a good look around, and the newfound place that surrounded them appeared to be somewhat a starting area, or that was the first thought that had popped into mind.
“Is this some kind of new virtual game, I did not know we were beta testers,” Takagi kept on yawning.
“What?” The male had heard and came across to Takagi. “Game? What do you mean, please explain yourself,” The male persisted on talking.
“Relax newbie, I have no clue idea, it was what my gamer instincts were telling me,” Takagi sighed responsively. “Wait what am I wearing?” Takagi took a first notice of his new attire.
A new herd was gathered and they spent some good long minutes discussing and trying to assess the situation. The conclusion was led to be of the following. One, this is not a dream. Two, we have no clue why or what either one of us is doing here. Three, we all had some sort of new attire that perfectly featured newbie adventurers if it were to be a normal game. Four, there appeared to be a card in our pockets and around fifty-one of us here, almost evenly split amongst twenty-six males and twenty-five females. Takagi laughed to himself about the ironic situation, if this newfound apocalypse would take place a male had to either share or be alone with these uneven numbers, luckily he favored his own chances in the matter based on intelligence and looks alone.
Takagi picked up his card and it read, “Adventurer, level 1”.
“Well am I not weak?” Takagi continued with his self-laughter at the situation and scurried around to take a peek of his surroundings.
The story has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.
There was a nearby town in sight with movement from afar to be seen according to Takagi’s focused eyesight. A few men were approaching and everyone stood silently behind what seemed a more charismatic and leading character, blue-eyed, good built, blonde, “he must be from some classy family” Takagi thought to himself.
“Morning adventurer’s, let us head towards that building and discuss things further,” One of the arrived men in plate armor came and pointed the lot towards a nearby building, a bit distanced from town.
Everyone quietly followed the guards and soon enough Takagi and the rest were inside. The guard began to explain the card, and handed out a few randomized weapons aside from the attire we had arrived in.
“The card shows your level, current experience, abilities and your class status, these weapons will help you slay monsters on your way to becoming stronger, and there may be quests up like this poster,” The guard explained and pointed towards a poster. “Newcomers have it easier so rest assured, nothing here has a potent threat of killing you, except of perhaps the cold and food as it is scarce around these parts and one has to work for it, theft or killings will be alerted and you will become a flagged player on your card and surrounding aura for an extensive time being,” The guard kept on explaining. “You will have to either make due living here until you slay some monsters and began to stack up your inventories which can be carried in these pouches,” The guard now began to hand out pouches. “Other than that, good luck, if you do not have any further questions for me that is,” The guard laughed carefree.
After a brief moment the guard came to stop laughing which Takagi came to realize was a sarcastic laughter hence he knew he would be stormed by a barrage of meaningless questions which he held no possible or good answer for. In Takagi’s hand a pouch and a rusty longsword was far from comforting. Some people calmed down and began to form groups out of safety reasons, in the meantime Takagi took the liberty of asking another guard which appeared to be free from all the ongoing commotion.
“Is there any minimap available?” Takagi asked.
The guard nodded and then reached his inner pockets.
“Here you may have mine, you will surely need it more than I do young adventurer,” The guard replied and handed Takagi a minimap.
Strangely enough Takagi understood the readings of the posters around in the room and the minimap.
“Yeah I am sure of that as well, it will definitely come in handy,” Takagi smiled back at the guard and nodded.
Amongst the minimap question, Takagi took the liberty of knowing the currency and some hunting areas pre-emptively. The currency was something equivalent to rupees or older coins. One hundred bronze rupee would equal one silver, and one hundred silvers would equal one gold. The next one would be one thousand gold would equal a real platinum based coin that had a special glow to it, in which the guard could not show Takagi as he possessed none on him. Takagi nodded again and gave his thanks as he headed towards some people that had arrived alongside him.
“Want to trade your dagger for this longsword?” Takagi casually barged in and interrupted a conversation between two males.
They both stared at each other and thought “is he stupid, why would he prefer a dagger over a longsword”, it was clearly written across their faces.
“Sure,” The male put his hand forward and made the trade.
Takagi thanked him kindly for the trade and kept his courteous appearance before he thought it was time to explore while the others loitered around for no good reason, as it appeared to be obvious, one had to hunt and gain some money for upgrades or food before night, else be starved around here. On his way out, Takagi spotted a beauty which caught his attention. The female was surrounded by the charismatic character, two other females and three males, totalling a group or what Takagi thought would be more come to be called, a party of seven.
“Well time to venture on this new world I have embarked on,” Takagi grinned unworried by the situation he was in, as this was much better than the one he had previously experienced in prior of sleeping which had managed to fully drain his fatigue and put it into active resting.
“Takagi, welcome to your new world, or home, Amistris,” Takagi smiled and tapped the sign of the town on the poster next to the door of the small building on his way out.
