Endr’ach

Physical Description: 7-8 Metres fully grown, no throat fire sack, fire is induced through magical means, dark skinned (no scales), fire retardant, capable of secreting flammable substance. Flammable substance smells sweet and alluring, often used to lure prey. Endr’ach are natural born hunters, capable of using their wings like an extra set of limbs. Endr’ach have been known to burrow shallowly into the ground using their wings as a way of setting ambush or lying in wait for prey, and have been known to stay in such positions for incredibly long periods. This is sometimes used for short term hibernation.

Endr’ach are able to excrete venom through their fangs, injecting it into their enemies. This venom is known specifically as La’druul by the Endr’ach and is highly effective, often considered one of the most effective venoms to ever exist, though rivalled by the venom of the renowned Snethonians.

Endr’ach like to feast on creatures of magical nature, and often ignore common livestock such as sheep, preferring to feast on creatures like the Wilde Dere (See Chapter 2 of Species of Etelopia - A Complete Guide - Volume 2). Though it has been proven that Endr’ach are perfectly capable of feasting on more common livestock, they have been known to prefer the hunt, and additionally it is a widely known fact that magical meat is far greater in nutritional value. It is also far more delicious.

Endr’ach have three vital organs, their heart, their brain, and their venom sack. Endr’ach do not have tails, instead to achieve stability during flight they fold their legs flat against their underbelly, providing extra protection and better aerodynamics.

Endr'ach, unlike almost all other magical creatures, do not specialise as heavily in magic, and are known to be masters of anything from fire to ice, not truly embracing any one particular magic as a species. Endr’ach speak Endr’ tongue, a unique language that embraces the harsh tones and tongue lashes of their species, and some lesser Endr'. Few speak any manner of common tongue (english), but are perfectly capable of doing so should it be necessary to learn.

Endr’ach have clawed tips on their feet, the edges of their “cheek” bones, and the tips of their wings, all of which are dangerous Ra’kuule (Natural Weapons, e is plural) that one would do well to stay clear of.

History: Endr’ach are prideful creatures, and claim to all have descended from Ag’Mah, the great Alpha (rough translation) and are forbidden from having a name that starts with A out of respect, though this was not a rule put forth by the Alpha himself, it is a unanimous decision from all Endr’ach.

Endr’ach are not dragons, in fact they despise the very idea of Draconians, the filthy breed that scatter the landscape as a cross between human and dragon. No real dragons exist on Etelopia, and most are unsure how Draconians even came to be, but the Endr’ach have a deep seated hate for them nonetheless. Never call an Endr’ach a dragon. (For more on Draconians, turn the page.)

Endr’ach are believed to have a prophecy of Anchakul, the “Heaven Struck,” a story of a great dragon who will be struck by lightning in flight and named Anchakul, saviour of the Endr’ach race. Never before has an Endr’ach ever been struck by lightning, and it is commonly believed that such a thing will never occur. Many Endr’ach have flown through storms, some even in hopes of being struck (Though such an act has long been forbidden), and yet it has never happened, but those of the Endr’ach firmly believe that it will occur one day soon, and that dragon shall be known as Anchakul the Atakul, the “Bearer of Purple”, and will be renowned by all races.

Endr’ach are an ancient race, one of the oldest on Etelopia, and take pride in their northern home, Ikrah, the floating islands of Gahallel valley. Not all Endr’ach live within the floating islands, but those who do are the most respected and valued individuals of the Endr’ach race, and are considered representatives of their race by all dwellers of the lands.

Endr’ach have a death ceremony known as Ingakta, the “Great Passing”, in which they burn their dead after covering the body with their excreted sweet oils. Haruk An Taktuh, “May the flame of battle follow you always.” Ag’Mah Hantak, “Ag’Mah be with you.” The Endr’ach hold a deep appreciation for any skilled use of magic, and such displays of strength in magic or a new application of it are often enough to gain favour with the Endr’ach, for they are as much scholars as they are cunning hunters. At least, when it comes to magic.

Strengths: The Endr’ach are never to be underestimated, their superior strength, mobility, magical control, and unique nature make them a threat to any and all races should they ever choose to start a fight, and are greatly respected by most if not all who live on Etelopia, with the exception of the Draconians. They have great backing throughout Etelopia should a race ever declare war, and Endr’ach are well organised, despite often living alone or in small families. Endr’ach will only ever have two children, and their genome is always perfect, so even if there were only two Endr’ach left on Etelopia, they would be able to repopulate.

Weaknesses: The Endr'ach, for all their strengths, are not perfect. Water cannot put out their fires, and lightning is said to make Endr’ach stronger despite the physical impact it carries, but ice is their one true nemesis. Endr’ach are both afraid and incredibly weak to ice, and though it is unsure exactly why, it is commonly accepted to be the best way to fight an Endr’ach by most, though none could be sure why someone would want to fight one in the first place. Endr’ach are not devoid of physical weaknesses either, and if one cannot use ice, brute force is the second best method. Endr’ach are strong, and have powerful defences, but their inner organs are quite vulnerable, and methods of internal damage tend to be effective, such as blunt force. The only true vital point of a dragon, that would be painful to lose, is their heart, which is located to the left of their right leg in their torso, closest to the underbelly. Older dragons have a deeper resistance to their skin in this area, and as such are harder to kill, but it is not impossible.
