Prologue - Strange Metal Behemoth

Prologue - Strange Metal Behemoth

Somewhere in Vontoria, 2 nations were heading to war. Fleets of ironclads and sailboats were setting course to the soon-to-be battlefields ahead.

Halfred Von Steelheart, admiral of the Proviet Imperial Navy, was currently sitting on the bridge of the ‘Barracuda Class Heavy Ironclad’. Pride of the Proviet Imperial Navy, the Barracuda class is armed with 4 twin 275mm cannons, which were the first of the world to use shells instead of conventional iron cannonballs. It was also armed with an array of 20 178mm cannons firing the traditional iron cannonballs, its armour was also very thick, ignoring long range cannon fire. The armour also provided substantial protection from magic and magic embuned cannon fire.

This and many other iron behemoths were heading to battle.

On the bridge of said ship, a barrelman spotted a large shadow in the fog ahead.

“Something ahead, looks like a giant warship!”

The decks of the fleet were in turmoil as the crew quickly loaded their guns and manned their stations. They were in enemy territory and any ships they came across would not be theirs, therefore they were allowed to use deadly force if needed.

What they didn’t know was that this was not an ironclad ship of the Lionheart Republic, but a battleship of a reincarnator.

As they drew closer, they noticed many things, namely the lack of the Lionheart Emblem on the turrets, the colour scheme, the fact the ship is alone and that it was alone.

“Pah, they were so confident in their ship they sent it alone!?”

Unlawfully taken from Royal Road, this story should be reported if seen on Amazon.

“If they keep this up I will feel guilty for bullying them!”

“But there is no emblem on the turrets?”

“Wait that ship is looking kinda big don’tcha think?”

As the crew were either laughing or concerned, the ship in question replied, with a simple sound of the horn.

DRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRNNNNNNNNN

This sound sent shivers down many spines, even the admiral’s.

The crew was frozen for a moment before being sent into a panic. It wasn’t long until some of the ships started to open fire, purely out of hysteria.

During the hailstorm of gunfire and spells, a fog cloud shifted between the fleet and the huge battleship.

The gunfire stopped and the crew were all tense, sweat dripping down their faces, as they started to feel relieved as there were no sounds coming from that direction, so they probably were sunk before they could fire back.

Once the fog passed, the fear started building up as the ship was now broadside, and the giant turrets on the front and back were swiveling towards them.

Fear was once again rising, and morale was lower than before, they have been in battles where they lost half of their ships, but nothing struck them like this, a ship which they couldn't even damage, and now its about to fire back upon them.

Then, they saw flashes, and after a second.

KOOM KOOM

Flashes ensued from the battleship, and a huge cloud of smoke covered itself. The crew of the fleet was sent into a panic, as the whistles from the shells grew louder and louder.

KABOOM

KRASSSHHHH

BOOM

Splashes and explosions erupted in the fleet, hundreds of people dying in mere seconds, as the explosions and shrapnel filled the entirety of the fleet, wiping out almost half the fleet in 1 go, only the ironclads got off better as the shrapnel wasn’t able to damage them much.

As the remaining ships who could think properly were rallying up to counterattack the strange battleship started steaming away.

“Damn bastards running away, After th-”

“Don’t, we would be courting death if we chased after them, we couldn’t do so much as a scratch with our full fleet, with most of our ships and some ironclads sunk we would just be begging to die”

Halfred was furious and anxious, but he knew that he would never win against that strange ship, and if he could return with information on an unknown ship whose capabilities could bring ruin to a fleet. It would give them some time to plan a counterattack, he was sure to make them wish they sunk his whole fleet.
