Chapter 2: This place is a hell hole

Chapter 2: This place is a hell hole

I woke up, confused, I looked around me. There are ruins of what look like a really old castle basement or some sort of dungeon.

I'm sitting on some sort of throne, I get up and left the room, I'm greeted with a corridor, but at the end I can see some sort of figure.

Walking down said corridor I was greeted by a skeleton, staring right into me. It first started walking towards me, but then broke into a charge.

I swear I’m not gonna die this early now.

Then everything froze, and then a holographic menu appeared in front of me.

Tutorial started, during this phase time has stopped for you

Begin by saying menu

eh? well, the skeleton isn't moving so...

“Menu”

Then a similar menu appeared, it had various tags for different submenus.

This here is the main menu for all of your options, only other reincarnated/summoned people and royalty can see this without your permission, no native to this world has this menu.

So it will start up a fuss, got it.

First go to powers

“Powers”

Here you can find your powers. Use your weapon summon to slay the skeleton. Time will resume but at a slower speed for this engagement.

I summon my P08, why? Because the skeleton is already super close and a DMR is not exactly light enough to aim properly this close.

My hand is already pointing in the skeleton's general direction so I only had to twist it slightly to aim the gun, then, with a squeeze of the trigger.

BANG

It's was kind of mesmerising and horrifying seeing the skull shatter, I mean I died similarly, just by falling head first onto a rock, rather than by bullet.

Skeleton warrior slain +100XP

You have slain your first enemy which has rewared you with XP.

XP can be used to level up yourself and abilities, it is also a currency to unlock now abilities and equipment.

New mission objective: Escape the dungeon

New mission objective: Slay 10 monsters before escaping

Oh missions, well the second one tells me this skeleton is not the only monster here so that's a bit concerning.

Walking down the hallway I looked into various rooms, most are filled with books or rotten foodstuffs.

However one of them had an armoury, but it also had 2 armoured skeletons. They have yet to notice me so I do have the element of surprise, so I carefully aim my pistol at them, once I was confident.

BANG

The 1 skeleton fell to the ground, I wasn't confident my pistol could pierce the helmet so I aimed for the spine connecting the head, the other turned around to me, and the helmet did not fully cover its face so I fired another shot into said face.

BANG

He promptly fell down

Going through the armoury I saw many suits of armour and weapons, I played a few VR sword fighting games so I have a gist of how swordfighting works but I doubt it’s anything against trained soldiers, I ended up walking out with a suit of iron plate armour, with an internal layer of gambeson, I also had a shortsword as a backup, guns aren't exactly stealthy so there might be a case where I would need to be stealthy, I also took a knife because utility. I would have taken a halberd but the armour and sword were quite heavy and I won't sacrifice protection for extra reach when I have guns.

I then march out looking down the corridor to see some skeletons marching my way, probably alarmed by the previous gunshots, summoning my DMR I side slide out of the doorway aiming the gun at them, alarmed by my sudden appearance, probably because of the armour, or the stylish entrance, they took a step back, but realising I'm ‘human’ they pointed their polearms at me then charged, but took a bullet to the head for their troubles.

BANG BANG BANG

The 3 scattered across the floor as they fell.

The knight had a fancy pendant on its neck, probably a memento, as I looked at it, a small holographic screen popped up with a line connecting it to the pendant, inside the screen showed a small area probably a meter cubed area, inside was some money, a decorated saber, a diary, some potions and some rations consisting of bread and meat, also a...warm bowl of soup?

When the soup bowl out it took some of my mana, the bowl was still warm and the soup was quite hot, I hesitate for a moment, but all the searching and fighting so far has me a bit peckish. With a slight reluctance, I take a spoonful.

It was somewhat bland, but that is just me being used to modern foods stuffed with all sorts of ingredients that make them tasty. But this means that the pendant keeps foods in a stasis.

Walking down the corridor I can end, but when I turned around the corner I saw a big hallway, inside were lots of skeletons...all looking at me. There were at least 20 there. I look behind me and it was just a stairway going up, taking a gamble I started firing at the skeletons, I killed about 7 before they got too close and I had to start backing up, I killed another 4 before I started going upstairs.

knowing I would probably fall going backwards upstairs, I ran upwards to the top before firing down, as soon as I got up I checked to see if there was anything at the top floor, there was nothing, so I turned around to kill the remaining skeletons, only 2 remained, so i kicked one back downstairs and swiped at the other with a sword, it barely managed to block it but then returned a swipe at me, luckily my armour blocked it, so i shoulderbashed it sending it back down, I then shot the 2 as they were stumbling down.

I collapse to the floor panting, I’ve never ran so fast upstairs in my life, not to mention the adrenaline from all that was a LOT.

I'll sit here catching my breath for a few minutes before getting back up.

Mission objective completed: Slay 10 Monsters

Rewarded 5000XP

“Not bad of a reward”

Getting up and dusting myself off, I look around the upper area, it's mainly just a long hallway with another set of stairs going up, but instead of a straight flight of stairs, it's a spiral staircase, it also seems there's more light up there.

I walk down the corridor and then up the staircase, theres another short corridor then a small flight of stairs then a giant wooden door which is busted open, leading to the outsides.

Mission objective completed: Escape The Dungeon

New mission objective: Investigate criminal organizaton on this island

So we are going from escaping a dungeon to becoming a detective?

Using the 'Map' menu you can see everywhere you have been, you can also setend the map by reading maps, if you listen to directions the map will place a rough estimate on the location. For the purpose of this mission the criminal organization HQ has been marked.

I open the map menu and see that the island is roughly 491x302km (slightly bigger than Russia)

Towards the south there's a somewhat small city, with some seriously big walls and defenses.

I'm somewhat terrified that they need walls that big. but relieved that there are sentient beings on this island.

Now the only problem, that town is like, 30km away...gonna be one hell of a trek.

Now that I think about it, my race is Anchorkin, that means I have some nice abilities right?

Powers

Guardian: Antares MKII Cruiser [Ready]

Weapon Summon: M392 DMR, P08 Luger+Kits

Magic refilling Cider [Mana Imput effects taste]

Hmm, I could probably use the cruiser to get there… though It might not be wise since I don’t know the standards of ships in this world, It would be like bringing a tank to a swordfight.

Well, I should head to the shore regardless, I can think of a plan when I get there.

Yawn

As I stretch my arms out I notice something...strange. my skin is grey, not an ill sickly sort of grey, like, full on metallic grey. what the fuck, I probably didn’t notice this due to the dungeon being dark and all but holy crap.

Wait it makes sense, I’m not human anymore, but it still feels alien to me.

Picking up a sense of bloodlust, I turn around, to see an 8ft armoured furred creature, It was like a bear with iron straps and pouldrens, with a wolf like head, along with long clawed fingers, on top of it was a green person with long ears- wait that's a goblin, way too classic. There were more goblins around it with makeshift spears, but some did have armour and actual gear.

As I stood there gawking at them, I realised, I’m not afraid? I know for a fact a slightly tall man with a broad figure would make me nervous, but somehow this giant monster which would make even men terrified, isn't scaring me? Then I was once again reminded I am not human, twice during that moment, as the beast lounged forwards at me and swiped at me, yet I didn't feel pain, despite the sparks, coming off of my chest.

The beast groaned in pain, as it sanded its nails on my metallic flesh. I stood there dumbfounded by the resilience of my flesh, then I had a notification.

Your natural defense is A+, this makes your flesh as strong as steel, meaning your armour is weaker than your bare skin.

Ah...yes...I'm a 'warship', so I’m made of metal.

Being the kind girl I am, I returned the favour by throwing a punch at the bear, but it did nothing.

Your natural strength is C+, while it would make you a powerhouse around humans, this barely qualifies as a tickle to the target.

Oh come on, we saw how much damage a ship can do to a dock if it crashes.

The bear decided to slap me, which sent me flying through a tree, shattering my armour and the tree. It didn’t hurt but it's annoying knowing neither of us can do any damage, yet he can just fling me around until I get tired out.

Then I slapped myself in the face once I realised, I got a gun.

Using the distance he threw me as an advantage, I summoned my DMR again then began firing.

BANG BANG BANG

Some of the bullets missed since I am still a complete amateur, but since the bearwolf thingy is a big target, many hit their spot. Which did quite a bit of damage to him, as he was stumbling around because of the pain.

At that moment, a goblin pounced from my side, grabbing the gun, however the failsafe despawned it and respawned it back into my hands, it costed quite a lot of mana to do so though.

“Ah shit”

I looked at my mana bar

76/200 Mana

I wasn’t paying much attention, I don’t know how much each shot costs, nor how much that failsafe costs.

Sheesh, this new fast paced lifestyle really is difficult, if I was a normal human, I’d have died at least 4 times by now.

After firing at the giant bearwolf a few more times, It dropped to the floor dead, seeing it dead, the goblins all halted and had nervous looks on their faces, dear god their faces are hideous.

They then ran away since the bearwolf is probably what gave them their confidence.

[Ravinis Slain: 500XP]

Ravinis Slain: 500XP

Walking up to it, with the gun still pointed at its head, I had a closer look at it. The wolf face had a weird lighter brown shade in the shape of a skull on its face, the fangs were partially serrated and it had some hard patches on its forehead, which were probably made of chitin of some sorts.

The claws were also pretty sharp, save for the one that clawed through my armour then sanded themselves on my 'skin'. The surviving ones are around 8 inches long, and i tried to snap one off but it just wouldn't work, so they are pretty strong, but my skin is stronger.

Knowing full well from several novels that strong monster parts sell well, I guess I will have to shoot the nails off with a gun since I lost my knife when the twat threw me through a tree.

Surprisingly, the nails blocked the P08’s shots, but when I shot the point where the nail joins the finger it splatted off, I then stored the nails in the storage pendant.

Some of the goblins dropped their weapons when they ran in fear, so I guess those are some freebies, well, without further ado I shall begin my journey to the seaside.

God, first I die, then I’m reborn as a non-human in a dungeon full of skeletons, and then I encounter bearwol- ‘Ravinis’ and goblins, this place is a hellhole…
