Crouching over piles and piles of old, rotten, and/or rotten cavadars, I cover my nose at the horrible smell. Im not very sensitive to corpses. Both due to my natural monster instincts, and my past life's experience in death and corpses.
But damn, the smell is still disgusting, especially to my newly developed nose. Around the corpses were hundreds of different types of bugs. Spiders, maggots, flies, centipedes, mosquitos, a whole insect ecosystem based off the corpses on the ground.
A toothy smile appears on my face. A whole ecosystem, all just there for me to train my most interesting, and perhaps most OP skill; Parasitic Feast.
Parasitic Feast Lv. 1
"You are what you eat."
Unique Skill; Skills and abilities can be gained through eating and absorbing the DNA of other creatures. 15% Chance Success [Permanent].
A skill that's probably not very strong at this stage, considering my weak body and state... But if I add in insects to the equation.... Hehehe~
There are thousands of different types of bugs, and that was just on a world as one tracked as earth. This skills limit on only 25% chance seems a bit obsolete when you take in the factor of their numbers.
It's for this reason why I decided to go over to the bugs first as my first prey. It may seem weak, but the potiental DNA and traits gains are insane!
Of course, I decided that maybe describing how a giant monster (in comparison to the bugs) eats some bugs would be boring, so I decided to make it a bit interesting by imagining their situations in their last few moments.
----------------------------------------
Being a spider was an easy life. All you had to do was hide near your practically see through webs, wait for a few flies or mosquitos to get in it, and just make sure their preserved for later eating. A simple, if boring life.
Such were the thoughts of a certain spider. She was bigger, faster, and much more poisonous than her couple hundred sisters. Not to mention smarter. Much smarter.
Hissing the equivalent of a sigh for a spider, she thinks to herself, 'Sometimes I wish I was as ignorant as my siblings... Then I wouldn't know how boring sitting all day just for some food would be... Or even have emotions in the first place. I could've just been had a nice life...'.
Hissing again quietly, she suddenly saw dozens of flies, and even a few mosquitos fly into her web. Even when they hit the web, they kept trying to get going, as if they were being chased. But the only thing that they'd run from in these cases were an evolved or flying variant of the insects already around. Her instincts suddenly were screaming at her to stay hidden, to not show myself... But I have to preserve the food before they destroy my web.
It wasn't because she was curious about what was causing all the racket. Not at all. Quickly moving to the closest fly, she started spinning it with her long 16 legs, spinning the fly in a web of see-through web that looked black when compacted. Looking up with one of her many eyes, she saw... It.
It was enormous, larger than most insects. It had a dark grey shell with five thick and long legs. It had sharp teeth on the edges of it's legs for some reason, or were those pincers? The thing was around her size, which was truly saying something considering she was perhaps the largest spider in her last couple dozen generations.
It seemed to have no mouth, yet moved with an aura of starvation. No eyes, yet seemingly completely aware of it's surroundings. It was picking up any and every insect that caught it's interest. The fastest centipedes too slow, the most mutated mosquitos too weak, the largest spiders too small...
She didn't even remember that she was out in the open until she saw it heading towards her. In a panic, she quickly jumped through her web, hoping her web stopped it from getting to her as well, before landing in the white bones of the Ancients.
'What the fuck is that!?' She thought, speeding away as she noted the hand take everything that was in her web away. Her strong webs seemingly nothing but maggot skin to the monster!
Hiding under the bones, she allowed herself to relax a bit. 'That... That.... What is going on?? What was that thing??' Her thought speeding by almost as fast as her breathing.
Suddenly, five large dark grey tendrils seemed to wrap over her, and the bones she was upside down on, into a cage-like position.
Crrraaack-
The bones she was on CRACKED. The bones she's always thought of as practically indestrucable, broke on her from the calamity...
Her breath hitched from how quick and sudden she went above the ground, staying completely still from fear, focusing solely on staying on the bone.
'This isn't happening. This isn't happening. This isn't happening! This isn't happening!!'
Rising high above the rest of the insects, she truly saw what was happening.
She saw her whole world. Her little world built upon the ancients, saw how many places were destroyed in the path of the beast. Flies trying to escape, mosquitos too confused to get anywhere, spiders hiding in plain sight, centipedes running away...
Looking towards what was causing all this destruction, she saw it. The gaping abyss that is death within the maw of a vastly overpowering predator. She was looking at a living Ancient...
An Ancient that devoured all in it's path. A gluttonous abyss, never satisfied, all encompassing and all consuming. As she stared into the dark maw full of thousands of small sharp teeth behind a line up of large teeth the size of the 'legs' holding her, she sighed.
Stolen from its rightful author, this tale is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.
This is what she gets for complaining about a boring life, huh? Well... Fuck-
You have Died!
A blue screen was all she saw, before the dark void of a maw surrounded her.

You have Leveled up! x4
Spider Limbs Trait Unlocked!
Parasitic Feast Leveled up!
Mm, nothing like a couple hundred bugs to satisfy a gluttons hunger for power~ Mwahahahahaha!
Pfft... Just kidding, it's only the beginning. Bugs are, as I say again, the ideal Target for someone with my power. Anywho, I've been 'hunting', imagining, and roleplaying with bugs for the past couple hours.
Looking over to my 'family', I see all of my siblings snuggling up to mother... Who just stretched her arms out and embraced most of them. Did I mention she was a scarily large shapeshifter that had multiple limbs, and seemed to be based off a giant or something?
I don't know. She just huge though. Anyways, back to my beautiful results~

No. I sigh and rub my head at the extreme migraine I just got. Or I would've, if my body didn't feel like it was literally burnt, ripped apart, and shot with force very close by...
Huh..
Imagine the way I died with that bomb, but in slow, excruciating moments by moments... So... I am so not moving from this sitting position. I'm not gonna put myself through a shit ton of pain for nothing!
Laying my head back on the wall near the bones, corpses, and terrified bugs, I hiss loudly in pain, which only made the closest (and lonliest) dragon.. shapeshifters... Fuck. I'mma make a name for them tomorrow, cuz it's getting annoying calling them siblings or monsters.
But first, to sleep!!
