I found myself on a planet, the ruins of a city in the distance. I could hear the sound of explosions in the distance, the sky flashing with light. The planet was both recognizable and unrecognizable. I was standing on a patch of ground that had already been seared into glass by the pure heat. No sign of life was around, yet the aura of death permeated the air. I was reminded of my time on the battlefield a simple grunt struggling to survive. I took my feelings and walked forward, in my hands was nothing but a dagger, however it was shaded the color of blood. Simply holding it I felt the need to inexplicably kill all things around me. I buried the thoughts in the back of my mind and walked forward.
I saw a small bunker in the distance, a small person popped out of the ground and beckoned me to enter. As I got near it, I heard a voice,
Kill them ALL
The voice was neither overbearing nor kind, in a sense it felt evil. I frowned and walked into the bunker. Inside were a group of people, shivering. They were wearing civilian clothes, and were in shock. A composed man came up to me and started talking
"Are you a soldier? We've been attacked by who knows what, strange ships appeared in the sky one day, and suddenly the entire city was in flames. We managed to enter a bunker that had been built here before, but whenever someone’s is outside, they get zapped into oblivion."
I opened my mouth to speak, when I heard a voice.
You need power... I feel your lust. If you wish for power, I NEED BLOOD. Any blood will do, perhaps you will be able to save these earthlings.
Quest Received: Bloodsteel
Absorb ??? Liters of blood to awaken the dagger.
Absorbing the blood from humans.
Difficulty: Medium
Absorbing the blood from the mysterious aliens.
Difficulty: Lunatic
I read it over, and had already made up my mind. Even in this mysterious world, I could not raise my hand against an innocent human.
I spoke out, in a confident voice.
"I'm a soldier sent out by the government, we've been preparing for this attack for years. I wonder if you could lead me to the secret supplies in this bunker before I set off."
I felt this quest wasn't so simple, the only sign of life is in this conveniently placed bunker. The strange man seemed to be the leader, he begun walking through the crowd. I nodded and followed, the crowd seemed to part for the man. He took me down a hallway and into a strange room. There was a wall and it was covered with a strange light blue security grid. A small hole was in the wall, and I glanced towards my dagger before inserting it. The grid pulsated red, before a small door appeared from within. I was about to enter, but I glanced back and looked at the man.
He was looking towards me hopefully, like I would be able to solve his predicament. Even though I knew that this was a trial, I still had the urge to ask.
"What is your name?"
He seemed surprised, and spoke. "Noah, sir." He raised his hand in a salute.
I smiled and walked through the door. It slid shut behind me leaving me in a dark open area. As the lights turned on, there was a sleek open hanger, and inside of it was a sleek jet. Covered with a black alloy, I recognized the model, a Rank A Galactic Stealth boarding ship. Even though it was the lowest rank, it would still be enough to do what I required. I jumped into the ship, and inside was a small stealth suit. I realized that the reason why it was rated so highly is because I would have to infiltrate an alien ship with nothing except a suit and a dagger. I quickly flicked on the power, the ship had a natural autopilot. The hanger door opened as I was launched through the opening. Cloaking was naturally engaged, as I flew toward the air. As I neared the ships, I frowned, they weren't any ships that I recognized. They must've been space pirates operating on some contraband ships. I scanned for the mothership, and when I saw it, I almost whistled. A rank B siege class assault ship. It didn't have any insignia marking it with a galactic organization.
I opened my mouth and spoke to the ship.
Dock on the ship in sector I8 of space, 8 degrees.
The ship suddenly veered in the motherships direction, and flew past. No one noticed the ship as it landed on the top of one of the hanger bays, it lasered a hole through the roof, and let down an opening. If I jumped down I would have no way to get back into the ship, the stealth suit supplied had suppressors to help when I fell. I looked around the room for anything, and jumped in. The first thing I noticed was the smell, an incredibly noxious smell. I hit a button on my suit and a helmet activated, supplying me with clean oxygen. I recognized the smell, it belonged to a group of aliens that released a toxic stench that was pure poison to humans. They originated from a poisonous swampy planet, but were able to thrive in any ecosystem. They had an incredible knack to evolve and adapt in many different ways, and were able to form an empire spanning galaxies. However humans simply called them goblins, a remnant of the pop culture in society.
I walked, my steps silenced by the suit. Unlike the makeshift item I had before, I was much more comfortable with this outfit. I reached a closed door, and simply cut it open. Inside were two goblins, seemingly talking to each other. They were a disgusting green color, however towered at about 7 feet tall. They had bulging muscles and were equipped with a tactical protective suit. I glanced around the room, wondering how to get past them. Inside the belt of one of the goblins was a small laser pistol. I threw my dagger at one of the goblins, and charged the other, grabbing its pistol. I punched it in the head but my hand simply bounced off. I quickly shot it in the chest. Before it could scream at all I quickly shot it in the head. The pistol would be useful, and both goblins were dead. The goblins were much more powerful than a human like me, I estimated their defense to be about 3x higher than my punch. I went to pick up my dagger, and found it embedded in a dried up corpse, slowly fading into dust.
I picked up the dagger, satisfied with how it did things. I snatched a keycard from one of the goblins, and opened the door. Walking through the hallways, it was surprisingly empty. I followed the path to the main room of the ship. No one patrolled the hallways, they were incredibly unprepared for an invader. I reached an elevator that would take me to the bridge room, and put my keycard in. As it opened, I prepared to walk inside, but what met me were two goblins. I reached inside to grab my pistol, but one of the goblins already had theirs out. I quickly rushed him, and stabbed my knife into his arm, it sliced clean through. The other goblin left a punch, and it hit my arm. My entire body shook, and I could feel my arm break. I turned around quickly and raised the dagger into his head. It pierced through and started draining his blood. The goblin with its arm cut off was screaming pitifully, and I took my gun and shot him straight through the head.
The ruckus that was caused should've caused alarm in half the ship, but surprisingly nothing happened, I hit the top floor of the elevator, and searched the goblins for something. The one that was screaming in pain unsurprisingly had a set of painkillers. While they may have been tainted by the poisonous odor, the poison wouldn't hurt as bad as trying to fight with a broken arm. I quickly ingested a pill, and the pain faded away.
I glanced at my health, it had fallen down to 80 from its previous 100. The painkiller would allow me to fight, but I still couldn't use my left arm. Thankfully I was right handed, but not being able to use both the pistol and the dagger at the same time was a huge problem. I had increased the difficulty for myself simply because I was unprepared. As I reached the top floor, there were 5 goblins working on piloting the ship. There were screens of entertainment, as well as the burning cities. I calmed myself and took out the pistol, I remembered a skill I had before. After using a pistol for almost 5 years, I had been able to use it. Shooting the gun was something I was capable of doing, even if my body wouldn't be able to follow the actions I could before. Most laser weapons had a burst fire mode, where they could shoot out all the energy left inside in many shots. By flicking your hand when it fired, a few millimeters could change where the shot landed. The shots were fired extremely quickly, however it was a skill that could be used on all laser weapons, as long as you could calculate it correctly. I picked up the pistol from the goblin I killed earlier.

I forced myself into a calm mental state, completely stopping my hands from moving at all. My muscles completely relaxed, and I measured where the goblins were. I closed my eyes and tried to sense their locations, and when I opened them. I clicked the shot trigger, suddenly, the gun started heating up. Nearly 12 blasts came out of the gun, and as I flicked my wrist around. I watched where they landed. I had already thrown the gun and started to rush with my dagger. The 12 bullets whizzed by and all 5 goblins were hit. While they weren't all hit in the head, 3 of them died instantly, and the fourth had his stomach pierced and arm blown off. While the fifth was hit in the back of the head, it turned around and I saw a set of blood red eyes. A hobgoblin was piloting the ship, while normally hobgoblins were weak. I was still an unranked individual, the raw difference in stats between us could determine the fight. Its pure defense was able to stop a laser from the gun. I already had my dagger out, so I charged the hobgoblin.
It roared in anger and pain, his leaders on the ship had all but died, and he was the last one remaining. It spoke in a strange language, and brought out an energy saber. A language translator for humans simply didn't exist at this point. However, with one arm I was forced to fight a hobgoblin. It rushed by quickly and brought down its blade, I could feel the heat of it as I dodged to the side. I sprinted toward the goblins, trying to think of a way to defeat the alien. Without knowing its status, I would be forced into a blind fight, so I quickly jumped towards dying goblin, and cut my dagger into it. The hobgoblin roared with even more rage. It seemed to be screaming something in its dialect. Suddenly, its arms turned from its disgusting green, to a dark red. I allowed myself a small grin, as he begun to charge me again.
Rampage was a skill that removed your mind based stats, and applied them to your physical body. It was mainly employed by mages in close combat, however it was a state that goblins could enter after an extreme amount of mental pain. Without its mind, it was simply an incredibly powerful beast, and I would be able to kill it. It was extremely quick, it had reached me and lowered its blade in almost a second. I dodged to the side and stabbed my dagger towards him. He let the dagger stab into him, but in the process slapped towards my chest. I released my dagger as it lied in its chest. And allowed myself to fly towards the back of the room. I felt no pain, thanks to the painkiller, but my health reached a staggeringly low 8 points. I knew my ribs had to have been broken. The hobgoblin let out a triumphant roar, and begun to charge me once more. However, as it flew towards me, it begun to get slower, as it staggered towards me it's incredibly bulky body had already became a withered corpse. It slowly dissolved into dust, and on the ground lay its saber.
I grinned and coughed up a mouthful of blood, as I gripped the dagger and put it into my belt. The saber also seemed to be the key to the ship, so I brought it towards the command console. Blood was splattered on it, and I inserted the key and locked on the missiles onto the rest of the fleet. I watched as the Rank B missiles destroyed the hundreds of Rank A ships in the sky.
Finally I grasped my dagger, and plunged it into the core of the ship. Each ship had a core, it would follow commands to the weapon that was linked to it, what the saber was before. However as I destroyed the core, the ship lost all source of power. The cores used some incredible technology, much like what nuclear power plants were to a candle, the cores were to a nuclear power plant. As the ship's lights dimmed, I felt the world distort around me, and I was back in the dull bunker.

The sense of danger that my intuition gave me from the room ahead went from impossible to fairly difficult. I understood that this was an incredibly useful windfall. All of my stats had practically doubled, however, for someone that was able to use more than just strength to fight, I became almost 10 times more dangerous. However, my dagger was the extreme benefit that I had received from the trial.
Morphing Bound Bloodsteel Dagger.
Sharpness 8
Durability 12
Option: Can absorb blood to increase durability and sharpness.
Skill: Can morph using blood to become a different weapon.
Modules: Blood Beam Saber
While I had lost the power to sever electrical signals, I could now morph the weapon. Of course, with this power the weakness of the dagger had been taken away. It's short range was an incredible downside, however if I could morph the dagger at will to become a rifle or a pistol it could be an incredible tool.
I quickly used the power and shifted it into a saber, with a blood red aura coming out of it, I was prepared to fight anything.
