Okay you beatiful human beings.
Heres the info chapter I promised.
Beforehand I wanna say two things. First of all, the short info chapter I posted before will be included here, and second, because I really am no good at writing info stuff like this, reading this may be rather corny. So feel free to skip if you want.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
1. A few more specific info about the evolution system
2. Why I didn’t do much world building yet
3. Magic
4. How potions work
5. How magic stones work
6. How humans become strong (they can’t evolve like monsters)
7. Gods
8. Blessings and curses
9. Titles
1.)The Evolution system I have in mind isn’t quite linear. Depending on the beings doings various things can happen as we already know. A Goblin has several standard evolutions, but lots of other evolutions that can only be brought out with a high gods involvement or special rituals (such individuals will be included in the story later on)
Also there are dozens of ‘Starters’. Goblins, Lizardlings, Orcs, etc.. They all have a basically unlimited variation of evolutions, but each race has a specific ancestor. For example a Lizardling will never evolve into an Ogre, like the normal Goblins do. But an Orc, being somewhat like Goblins, can under rare circumstances evolve into variant Ogres.
There is no limit in how many times a being can evolve. What would be considered the last step would be becoming a god, or godlike creature. But even then most can still evolve (just that these evolutions are mostly just looks changing).
Okay now to the ‘variants’ and so on.
There are several additions a monster can get while evolving. Mostly they are given due to a gods blessing, sometimes because of something else.
The normal ones are:
‘Variant’ – a being with one blessing, stronger than a normal one of its species, often shows high magic affinities.
‘Great’ – Stronger than a normal one
‘Blessed’ – Shows strong magic affinities, can only occur when a lesser god blessed the being
‘cursed’ – When a god hates the individual, but wants to keep it alive, or isn’t able to kill it(cursed isn’t always a downgrade for the monster but can give it special advantages)
Most of them can be mixed, so that for example a ‘Blesses Variant Ogre’ appears.
Then there are extra additions they can have. These occur when very specific special decisions were made or actions were done.
‘Rare’ – One or several Gods are interested in blessing the being, but are not sure whether or not it could be a danger to them one day. Gives extra magic power. Can also mean that the being is supported by one or more very powerful non god individuals.
‘Ripped’ – The being was forced to evolve via magic. Puts big strains on the beings body, often killing it. Sometimes the wearer mutates into a very strong abomination
‘Artificial’ – The being was made by magic.
Then there are special additions. They are only given when a being achieves something special. They all give general stat ups and are the strongest additions.
‘Unique’ – the first and only one of its race
‘Ancient’ – only a few of this race live, and they are thousands of years old
‘Extinct’ – like unique, just that there was once another one of that race
‘Godly’ – Being which achieved the power of a god
‘Demonly’ – Being which achieved the power of a godlike demon
2.)Ok to the world building thing.
I didn’t do much yet because I want to remain most of the things from our mc’s POV (excluding some rare other pov’s), so as he didn’t have much chances to learn anything about the outer world yet, we haven’t either.
3.) I thought a lot about how to manage the magic system and my solution is quite simple.
I don’t.
In the world of Re:Corruption there is no set magic, everything is about an individual’s race, affinities, training and certain blessings.
Tral for example started as a Goblin. Goblins have no chance of getting magic at all, EXCEPT they were born under a blessing of a god or a very mighty being.
Imps in contradiction to that are born with a medium fire affinity and a weak fairy magic affinity (because they are a weak kind of fairies).
Now these can evolve. Often creates sub races like variants can use magic of certain affinities better than the original race.
Evolutions like the Gremlin evolution are often slightly weaker but have guaranteed magic affinities.
Some evolutions also restrict beings from certain magic.
Now. How beings use magic. I didn’t want to use conventional spells n stuff, so magic is like an energy they can freely control. If a being uses his magic right he can literally do anything with it, creating rooms, making plants grow, refining material, cook, etc.. Whatever you can imagine can be done with magic, it only requires a sufficient magic talent (think of magic as kind of a green lantern power, just stronger).
4.) There are 3 kinds of potions.
1. Instant potions: These are Energy (mana) or Health potions that only have a minor effect like healing broken ribs or closing a wound, but work instantly.
2. Strong potions: These are Energy (mana) or health potions that take hours to days to fully take effect. They can heal almost everything except for lost limbs.
3. Effect potions: These are potions that apply a certain effect when used. Can be stuff like an aphrodisiac or an adrenalin potion, but can also contain poisons or something against poisons or magic.
5.) There are stones and… stones.
These second kinds of stones are called ‘magic stones’ (yes that’s such a creative name…). They hold certain magic powers and can be used on various occasions.
For example a fire stone can be used to heat a stove, a water stone can be used to produce a small stream of water or to speed up existing water currents.
If you come across this story on Amazon, it's taken without permission from the author. Report it.
All kinds of magic stones can be found. Stones that have normal magic like fire, water, light, etc. and stones that hold very special kinds of magic, like darkness, fairy or even magic that may revive the dead (very rare, dead will most likely be brain damaged, or be zombies).
Not every stone is as strong as others. The ‘level’ of a stone depends on several factors, like the density of energy inside it or the stones size.
By using magic stones a being can strengthen their own magic or can even use low class magic that is contained in the magic stone.
6.) Humans can’t evolve, which means that they don’t have the spontaneous power advances that certain monsters possess.
To make up for that they can grow higher in level and have so called ‘jobs’.
Their level has no defined ending, they can grow indefinitely until they may one day reach a gods power.
A normal citizen that has never fought or even trained has a level of about 5 to 10.
A soldier that just finished his training has a level of about 25.
A veteran fighter has a level of about 50 to 75.
That’s all for human standards, they need large numbers of these fighters to beat strong monsters.
Then there are the non-soldier human fighters.
Adventurers are normally stronger than most other humans.
They possess levels ranging from 20 to over 200 (a level 200 wouldn’t have any problems beating Tral).
Then there are the so called ‘heroes’ or ‘sages’(heroes for fighter jobs and sage for mage jobs).
That’s what humans are called once they reach level 250.
Most nations don’t have more than 2 heroes and hiring one of the mercenary heroes costs about as much as a medium sized town.
At level 600 humans reach Demi God level. These overpowered humans are often killed by gods who see their progress as a danger for themselves.
A level 900 to 1000 human could be considered to be as strong as a living god (see in 7. What that is).
The jobs level up with the humans. If a human for example possesses the job gardener, or tamer they need to do certain actions again and again to upgrade that jobs level. The higher a jobs level, the more are its uses and advantages (a job level 200 gardener could make a small forest grow with a clap of his hands and a level 250 gardener may be able to summon a horde of tree ents.)
Btw Monsters can also learn certain job skills, like Tral learned how to tame. But they will need longer to level that skill up and have problems acquiring it in the first place.
7.) For pretty much anything you can imagine there are gods. A gods power cannot be measured in levels, so they give themselves titles like ‘Minor human God of hatred’. This god would be a minor god, meaning he is rather weak in the ranks of the gods, also the ‘human’ in his name stands for that he either once was a human or that he now sees himself as responsible for humans (see them as his ‘sheep’; there are also gods that don’t have a race inside their title. This means that they either like all races or that they choose to not take the side of any race). The hatred part is obviously what kind of god he is. A god of Rage may bless people with the behavior to enrage fast, a god of lust may bless a slut, etc.
A living god is what is called a being that has reached the powers of a god, while still living in the realm of the mortals (each god has his own ‘realm’ which is like his own little dimension).
8.) A god or a very mighty being (like a high level hero or a demi god level being) can bestow blessings or curses over a being.
Blessings can have dozens of effects, from making the person slightly bigger to making them a very strong being, or even giving them huge advantages. Anything that is in the power of the being that bestowed the blessing can occur.
But bestowing a blessing costs a being a great deal of power, which is why blessings are very rare, only bestowed to creatures that truly impress the bestower.
Curses are not exactly the opposite of a blessing. They can indeed make a creature weaker or even destroy parts of their body, but they can also give the creature effects that can be seen as positive.
For example if a god of light curses a creature, then there is the chance of several, rather dark, gods to take interest in that creature, meaning that the creature could gain several dark blessings.
Also a curse can alter a creature’s body or mind as much as it can be seen as an abomination, or for some as a messiah (fanatics that hate specific gods often see cursed ones as that).
9.) Many fanfictions have elements like titles that give certain stat bonuses. That’s not the case here.
In Re:Corruption the titles have only two uses: First, the being is known as that, people will respect someone with a strong sounding title, and make fun of someone with a title like ‘coward’. Second, certain titles give certain privileges, for example someone who has the title of a sage would be able to access whatever place he wants to for free.
---------------------------------------------
Because I can’t think of anything else to write into the info chapter this will be sufficient, for now.
Well damn, I will have to push the next chapter like a week back to rewrite the first 4 to 5 chapters. I realized that my old writing style seriously is a pain to read.
Oh btw, if anyone of you wants something explained, please post it here in the comments. I will consider then if it will be worth adding to my list.
(Also if anything written here is confusing or feels wrong, please comment or msg me about that)
Ah before I forget it. If anyone wants to include any of the races or places I make up for this ff in their own ff than that would not be a problem, but if you want to make like your own mc meet one of the mcs of my ff, please ask me first (I probably will not have anything against that though).
