Day 4
I hardly slept a wink last night. The rain had finally stopped and it was still night out. The pit that I was thrown in was deep, it was a miracle that I survived the fall. At the top of the pit was a small hole that was my only contact with the world outside. The dampened dirt that I was lying on made it uncomfortable for me to rest.
The bottom of the pit had no light sources at all. The only source of light was the moon whose faint light entered from the top of the pit. It showed me a one way path. It seemed as if it lead to an abyss of pure darkness as it was pitch black. But looking at the situation at hand, I would have no choice but to follow the path.
The foxes that threw me into the pit had already left a long time ago. I suppose they thought that I would not survive the fall.
My silky pure white fur had been shredded. There were spots on my body with my flesh exposed. My right front paw was broken. One of the demon fox had crushed my bones with his metallic like teeth. But by now, most of the pain had already numbed. But the thoughts of vengeance kept echoing in my head. I cannot forgive nor could I forget.
I cursed the gods that designated this horrible fate onto me. I would have been better off dead then having this second chance at life. But now, it is a whole new story. My thirst for revenge outweighed the sadness I had in life. The mere thought of eating the demon foxes excited me.
The first thing I wanted to do was shred their furs off before tearing their limbs off one by one while watching them scream in pain. I would then drink the blood off their exposed wounds. After sipping in their blood, I would swirl it in my mouth to feel the texture and structure, savoring the taste. Mmm… delicious.
With that in mind, I limped into the tunnel that seemed to have no end.
***
I was now in a room that had mud for walls. The room was brightly lit by medieval lamps that held an orangey dancing flame on the stand. There were texts by an unknown language written on the mud walls of the room that was surprisingly spacious. There was nothing other than eight lamp stands arranged in an orderly manner on the ground.
At the end of the room was a wooden door that had scratches all over it with the bottom part being uneven. There were also vines that surrounded the edges of the door showing that it had not been touched in ages.
With nowhere else to go, I pushed the door open.

Description: Bats that feed off the blood of their victims
The next room was dark. But the status window instantly popped up indicating that there were monsters in there. But this time, it was different. There were multiple status windows that kept popping up, there were too many to count.
I quickly closed the status window before stepping back. Before I could comprehend what happened, a huge swarm that consisted of a dozen vampire bats flew at me, pushing me back into the room with the mud walls. The bats were about the size of an A4 sized paper with sharp teeth that resembled vampires to drain their victim’s bloods
I laid on the floor while the bats surrounded my injured body, sucking out my blood. I felt like a balloon with air escaping out of me. I was being deflated. With every passing second, my body felt lighter and my head was getting dizzier as well. This was no good. I am about to die.

My instincts took over me for a second as I snapped a vampire bat into half. The small bones had shattered due to the immense pressure of my jaw. The wings it had were crunchy and felt pleasant to eat. The other vampire bats seemed to be shocked at my sudden retaliation as they retreated to a safe distance immediately.
*huff huff*
I could barely open my eyes, my body felt heavier as if I weighed a hundred ton more. Their retreat gave me time to recollect my thoughts. I was clearly outnumbered and injured. The odds of winning this fights were not in my favor. The beast side of me helped me remain calm. If I were the same hikikomori back on Earth, I would be screaming my ass off while crying like a little bitch.
I started to slowly move backwards towards the mud wall. I did my best to keep a straight face and hide my weaknesses. The bats however, did not wait for long before they swarmed at me again.
Jumping backwards, I knocked down one of the light stand which managed to burn two of the bats. The bats then scattered away from me in fear of the fire. I took the opportunity to pounce on the confused vampire bats with my mouth wide open.
*Crunch*
I managed to eat 3 fleeing bats at the same time. Eating the bats seemed to give me a huge boost in recovery. I felt more energized as their meat flowed into my empty stomach. Power was flowing through my veins.

A status window appeared again, showing the accumulated experience gain. It was distracting. The problem was that the window covered the entirety of my line of sight. Was there a way to permanently turn it off?
There were 6 vampire bats left. I was definitely stronger in terms of physique. The problem was stamina. I was still bleeding and my front leg is broken. Up till now, I was holding in the pain. It was excruciating and my open wounds stung due to the contact of air. I have no idea how long I could last.
The remaining vampire bats were cautious. They had a numbers advantage and there was no way that they would fall for the same trick twice. They flew close to the celling of the room, making me unable to pounce onto them.
Every second was precious. But luckily I had a plan. I jumped towards the mud wall before using my hind legs to kick back towards the vampire bats.

The vampire bats had no way to escape. After repeating the same action a few times, I had killed all the vampire bats. My fur was coated blood red and I could still feel the lingering taste of their blood. I did not feel like a winner after killing them. I only killed them in order to survive.
They were like god’s gift, sent from heaven. They filled my stomach and for some reason, my wounds closed.
Now.. to solve the important questions. I need to find out about the status windows.
Hmm… if I get exp for killing monsters, this world seems to be like a game. Doesn’t that mean I have a status window too?

From the looks of it, I am a Kitsune. I don’t really know what a Kitsune is so I guess I’ll skip through that. It also seems that there is a stats bar. After observing other people, this has not appeared at all. And from the looks of it, I have 0 luck. Does luck mean literally luck? My mp bar also started to drop as long as I had my status window opened.
I guess that throughout my journey thus far, nothing good has ever occurred to me. Starting out with my mother dying to being thrown into this hellhole to being attacked by vampire bats. I guess I really am just an unlucky guy.
I carried the fallen light stand which acted as a torch before limping into the room that previously contained the vampire bats.
The layout of the room was exactly the same as the previous room with a door at the opposite end of the entrance. Pushing open the door, I found a stairwell that led downwards. Looks like I will be spending a long time here.
As I limped down the stairwell, I noticed that the flooring was made of concrete. I wonder what advance species could have made this place.... could it be humans? There were candles which lit the stairwell, but I kept my torch just in case.

I reached the bottom of the stairwell which led to another room. Status windows appeared which showed the description of vampire bats. Oh goody, I found my lunch.
This time, hunting the vampire bats was easy. Apparently they were docile creatures that were only attracted to the scent of blood. After my wounds closed, they did not even notice my presence when I sneaked up to them. I ate around five bats to fill my hunger.
This room was different than the previous two. The room was made up of a lot of rocks and had uneven terrain. The celling was also way higher with close to a hundred vampire bats hanging upside down. The room was brightly lit with a lot of candles and was really big, I could not find the exit. If my thoughts serve me right, there should be a door somewhere…
I started to wander around the room, looking for the door.
That was when I heard a loud chewing sound echo throughout the room. I headed in that direction to find a hippopotamus. That hippo was huge. It was around four times larger than a regular hippo and its skin looked like an impenetrable fortress. My instincts were telling me to run. It was a foe I had no chance of defeating.

Species: Long Tusk Hippopotamus
The creature had tusks like an elephant coming out near its mouth. Since there aren’t any plant species in this room, it is most likely carnivorous.
Crap… it seemed to have caught wind of my presence. The hippo was staring at me. I don’t think it has ever seen a creature like me before.
It opened its mouth to a sixty degree angle to intimidate me. Its mouth were filled with the pieces of half eaten vampire bats. I could see the brains and wings stuck in-between teethes that were dyed red in the blood of the bats. It was a pretty grotesque sight.
I started to move backwards. It was better to retreat. I did not want to fight such a strong foe. But that was a huge mistake. The hippo caught sight of my injured front foot and started charging in my direction. The legs of the hippo were short but they moved at a fast speed making its action look funny.
I started to run away as fast as I could but with my broken leg, I was moving too slow. The hippo was going to catch up. I had to face the hippo, it was my only shot to survive.
Turning around, I confronted the hippo. But the hippo did not show any signs of stopping, it was heading head first towards me with its tusk aimed directly at my head. When it got close to me, I jumped to the side to dodge. Its tusk only barely scrapped my fur. I then pounced onto its body.
My sharp teeth did not even penetrate the thick body of the hippo. My only weapon was useless.
My attack only enraged the hippo. Shaking its head, it knocking me backwards making me land face first onto the ground. It then charged with its mouth wide open. With my only method of attack being futile, I felt my death was certain.
No. I can’t give up now. I have to get my revenge. Facing this monster was nothing compared to the what I had gone through. Killing this monster is going to be my first step in escaping. I won’t stop until my goals have been fulfilled.
Think.. think.. how can I kill this monster… wait. I found the solution.
I would have to take a gamble. I bit my broken front paw, letting my blood ooze out. My broken leg was already numb so it did not hurt at all. But this led to the hippo being more excited. It thought I had given up, making it charge even faster at me.
I could hardly move with my leg being entirely useless and barely managed to dodge its frontal assault. But luckily, I smeared my blood all over the skin of the hippo when he just passed me.
I laid on all fours exhausted. The hippo turned towards me walking towards me knowing that I could no longer run. I closed my eyes. My heart started to race with every step the hippo took. I was waiting for my death, dying a second time was not that scary to be completely honest.
But my end did not come.
Opening my eyes I saw hundreds of vampire bats swarming the hippo. The hippo was forced to stop in its tracks. The hippo kept biting the air in random directions, killing a few bats at a time. But his efforts were futile, the bats kept on coming. Looks like my gamble paid off.
The vampire bats were attracted to the smell of my blood on the hippo. I also had used my fur to cover my wound making the bats unaware of my existence.
With the bats distracting the hippo, I used all my energy to dart towards its head. Using my jaw, I snapped its head open due to the immense pressure, before breaking its skull into half and leaving its brain exposed. I used my uninjured front paw to knock its brains out. It felt slimy and was pretty small when you ratio it to the hippos body.
The once arrogant monster was laying lifelessly on the ground. With the vampire bats sucking out its blood.

Would you like to evolve?YesNo
A different window appeared in front of me. As I was tired after fighting the hippo, I moved my paw to click “yes”.
Wait what would I evolve into? I had a lot of second thoughts after clicking yes. I already felt attached to my four legged form. I would hate if I evolved into something human like.
Ability - Shadow Control learned
I felt something strange occurring in my body. Something was growing out of me. I looked towards my rear to see a tail. My tail was white in color. But the fur on my body was still dyed blood red. When moving it, it felt exactly the same as moving a limb. It was part of me. I also felt my body change as well but I could not see the changes. But now, it was time to see my new stats.

My mp bar was not dropping when I opened the window. It also seemed that I was two times stronger than I was before, but I had no way of testing my new strength out. I also had gain a new ability but I have no idea how to use it.
Looking at the hippo’s carcass being mutilated by the vampire bats was disgusting. That could have been me if I lost the fight. Hopefully the vampire bats won’t attack me. I limped away towards a rock that was shaped like a hill before lying down at the base. I was grateful for this opportunity to rest and I closed my eyes. Today has been a long day.
