Chapter 3 - Power Up

Cane and Kiddo always have a conversation while having a breakfast until lunch time, then after that Cane will leave and comes back later in time for dinner.

A week have passed, kiddo is fully recovered from his injuries, he is currently reading a book about body strengthening methods since Cane told him that “A strong mind needs a strong body, vice versa to reach the full understanding how the body works”.. Kiddo learned that to become strong like cane, he has to push his body to the limits and keeps on breaking it to develop his body.

Kiddo, turns to Cane outside of the house, cutting woods.

“Cane, will you help get stronger??” kiddo asked.

Cane laughed so hard that tears could be seen from his eyes.

“Yeah! Sure! But first, we have to set some rules and conditions since you’re weak kiddo”

Kiddo nodded and stares at Cane for further explanations.

“Okay, First of all no one eats for free, right? So starting tomorrow you’ll have to collect water from the river 10km north using those two buckets to fill that basin over there” Cane smiled as he point towards the black basin and two black buckets.

Kiddo nodded again understanding that currently he is a free loader

“Good, looks like you understand what I’m saying.. Then let’s start the rules, training starts when the sun shines and ends when the sun sets, every time you ask a question there’s a punishment, okay that’s all, training starts tomorrow”

“Sure Cane!!” Kiddo shouted with confidence.

“Then go to your room and make sure that your body is well rested for tomorrow”

As soon kiddo woke up he immediately opens the window to look if the sun started to shine, when he saw that he is earlier that the sun, he prepares himself for the first job, collecting water at the river. Kiddo ran as fast as he can towards the place where the buckets were placed as soon as he lifted the two buckets, he felt some weight on it.

“Woooahhh, heavy aren’t cha?” Kiddo smiled then ran towards north.

Thirty minutes later, kiddo couldn’t run anymore and chose to walk instead. Now that his adrenaline is used, he could feel the buckets weighted at least 5 kg. But kiddo didn’t gave up, after walking at least for 10 minutes he started to run again.

“So running in full strength is not good, I need to learn how to pace myself so I won’t get tired so easily” he mutters to himself.

Kiddo alternates from running and walking after another hour he could see the river, he immediately fills the buckets with water then after resting and of course having soaked in the river he felt refreshed, he started to go back.

After an hour the sun started to shine causing kiddo to hurry, expanding his muscles to utmost limit so he gets tired easily and he rests more frequently making the time spent longer of course he doesn’t know but someone is watching from a far.

“This kiddo really doesn’t know a thing, he’s a fcking amateur! HAHAHAHA” Cane laughs

As the sun is at its peak kiddo returned with the water while panting. He saw Cane waiting for him.

“Ohhh, I thought you’ll finish it until the sun sets”

“What the hell is with that bucket?!” Kiddo shouted

“Ohh?? You asked a question.. I remember a rule regarding questions” Cane smirks at kiddo

“Ohhh sshhh*t!!! I totally forgot” as Kiddo rubs his head.

“Okay, another trip to the river kid of course you’ll bring both of your new friends right?” as Cane winks.

But before kiddo goes out again Cane offered him lunch, now that kiddo remembers not even eating breakfast, his stomach started to growl, causing Cane to laugh.

It took him until evening to be able to get back again, he tried running non-stop then rest before running again but to no avail he still didn’t caught up to the sun.

“Ohhh, time for dinner I see, don’t worry about wild monsters, I made sure that as long as you don’t stray from the path to the river you won’t be able to meet them, so taking a whole day is fine with me”

Kiddo just nodded silently cause he doesn’t have energy to spend, his body aching all over and he doesn’t want to speak anything since he fears that he might just spurt nonsense resulting in asking questions making cane punish him again.

Again after kiddo woke up, he started to do his chore, he finished it before lunch feeling accomplished for what he had done after eating he tried to approach Cane.

“I have finished my chore Master”

“Right, now here’s what you’ll do, I’m gonna teach you about your body”

Kiddo nodded cause he is afraid to ask questions

“Good, you’re learning quite well, discipline is the most fundamental basic in learning, now you could ask questions if I gave you permission to.. There are two main ways to enhance a body, first is by using the natural energy then the second is by using your own energy in your body and last is by using God’s energy. We will start by using the natural energy”

“Uhmmm, I want to ask something master” kiddo interrupted

“Go on ask me”

“can you please elaborate master?” Kiddo asked

“Ahh, right you’re quite the amateur kiddo, Natural energy is simply energy that comes from nature, while body energy is energy that comes from your own body, meaning the body acts as a vessel so stronger body means having more energy. to be able to use it, you have to learn perception, now I’m going to teach you how to meditate killing two birds with one stone. Well I know you had read how to meditate so you know what position to use for easier meditation”

Kiddo sat down in front of Cane, taking the position for meditation.

“Now here’s what you’ll do, clear your mind, then focus on breathing in and out, don’t get distracted by your thoughts, throw everything away for a while”

As Kiddo focused on breathing, he felt the air flowing from outside into his body, he concentrated and follow the flow of the energy and as it reaches the center part of his chest, he felt another energy "that must be my own energy" then something felt a little bit tingy sensation, the natural energy was absorbed by his own energy in the center. Kiddo felt where the energy is stored.

“Master, I felt where the energy stored inside of me, it is in the center of my chest”

“Good, a normal person takes at least half a year to perceive those things, but since we are at the center of this mystic forest, natural energy is condensed in here making it easier for you to feel the natural energy and see the center where it goes. Now that you know where it lies, try to move the natural energy into your hand before your own energy absorbs it”

Kiddo started to concentrate again, but now feeling both energies and his center, is much more easier since he already knows the sensation. He tried to move the natural energy before his center absorbs it, as the energy moves, it became harder and harder to control but kiddo kept on trying until it reaches his right hand, then suddenly the energy started to be absorb by the muscles in his hand. Mesmerized by the event, he opened his eyes then noticed that the sun had already set. He goes straight to Cane to ask what happened

“Master, I saw the energy absorbed by the muscles” Kiddo told Cane

“Good, now you have learned how to strengthen your body through natural energy now you need to keep on doing that to make your bones and muscle stronger it takes time, you could also use your body energy but when you use that method you’ll feel tired because your own energy is spent instead but right now, you can’t control energy skillfully, well with practice you’ll be able to not waste natural energy, you see in your first time, a lot of energy was wasted in just moving it inside your body" Cane smiled at kiddo.

After they ate dinner, kiddo says goodnight to cane and rushed to his room but he didn’t slept immediately, he tried again what he had learned today but this time he tried to distribute all the energy in his center to all parts of this body some energy dissipate and absorbed by his body while some dissipated but wasn't absorbed. As he somewhat successfully done it, he fell asleep because of expanding all of his energy reserves but with a smile on his face.

“HAHAHAHA!! Gooooood!! As expected of my disciple, he wants to take the shortcut huh? But there is no shortcut in the path of revenge” Cane smiled as he closed the door.
