The night sky was lit up by the muzzle flash of a gun for a very brief moment. The bang deafened the household, and rang out across the neighborhood. But just as quickly as the gun went off, the house returned to darkness.
Julia’s family knew what they had just heard, but they also knew they couldn’t do anything about it. They could only pretend to sleep, closing their eyes, hiding behind the covers, avoiding the light like they would burn up from it. They could do nothing except allow the enforcers to walk in, do what they needed, and walk out. There was no fighting back, there was no debating. They had decided Julia’s fate, and it was decided by that muzzle flash.

What was left of Julia was only her body. Her head was scattered across the room from the impact of the bullet.
