My name is Yuri of Tamworth, I’m about to turn six pretty soon, pretty funny isn't it, since my father and my mother are commoners we don't actually have a surname, that's only for rich people apparently.
I live pretty comfortably in a small house on the outskirts of a small town called Tamworth with my father Rollo, a tall and simple man with short brown hair and blue eyes and my mother Olivia who was exceptionally beautiful, her sharp blue eyes could pierce the soul of any man and make him fall head over heels, her silky long blonde hair flowing like a river of gold, however I was born a little different, while I did inherit my mother's blonde hair, I was born with a strange eye color, a deep red that would startle anyone at a first glance, from what I knew I was the only one who had that eye color in my whole village but it didn’t really bother me after a while, however it was still a deeply rooted insecurity for me.
My father is an honest farmer that tends to the crops day in and out while mother looks after the household, truth be told my mother is way scarier than my father, each of her scoldings I feel like I’m completely powerless, she even scolds father from time to time when he overworks or gets hurt, I often try to assist father with work and help out but he always tells me “Your too young to work yet” and that “You should play with the other kids in the village”.
Well I don't really complain since it's fun hanging out with my friends and other children from the village, you may have noticed but I have a rather strange name, I did too but when I asked mother and father about it they say it simply suits me.
I often go by the blacksmith to look at how he works the smithy, he's a pretty scary old man whose family apparently died in the war, after that he moved here to this calm little village around nine years ago and set up shop, everyone is scared of him apparently and tries to not approach him unless necessary or to order something from him since he’s intimidating due to his muscles but to me he actually seemed like the most interesting person in the village since he was the only one except my parents who wasn’t startled of my eye color when we first met.

Despite his smaller stature he was super strong since he worked with metal all day long, I would often ask him to make me a sword like the ones in the hero stories my mother tells me but he never answered however he lets me look at how he workes as long as I didn't touch anything or mess around too much, while he says he doesn't make any weapons anymore because they only bring bad omens, only making nails, hinges and tools now, I did see him make one weapon recently, a pretty sturdy looking steel dagger.
When I asked him what made him change his heart he told me “I have this gut feeling kid, danger’s coming, it’s the same feeling as that day…”, I don't really get what they meant with “danger’s coming” or “that day” so I just shook it off and went on my way.
I have always been physically gifted, or so I was told, in terms of strength I could always match kids two or three years older than me plus I was always way faster and taller than boys my age making some of the other boys jealous, I didn’t really care since I mostly enjoyed playing in the woods and sparring with them, luckily my friend Noir, a kid only around two years older than me was the son of the village's carpenter so his father would make small wooden swords just for us to spar with so we would often take them into the forest even though we weren't allowed to enter it and play knights and monsters… I always had to be the monster… while we would play the girls mostly just sat there gossiping and giggling from the sidelines while sitting and doing nothing, even when we would ask they would just brush us off.
In the forest while me and my friends were playing.
