Chapter 1

Kuro excitedly blurted out, “Let me, let me!”

Haiiro smiled, “You don’t mind, right Shiro?”

“I’ll get my turn eventually, but for now I suppose I’ll mess around with the Menu.” Shiro mumbled, moving to the side and finding an invisible wall to lean on. He quickly opened up the Menu and began fiddling around with it as he pleased.

“Have fun with that, Shiro-chan~.”

“...” Don’t say anything, just don’t...

“Anyways~ get ready Kuro-chi. You’ll be taking over after I finish this off~.” Haiiro waved the sandwich in their hand, as if afraid it would be forgotten about.

Haiiro returned to biting the delicious sandwich nearly half their size, easily devouring it in within a minute. Then the small girl extended her hand forward,  forming a small black hole a little larger than a baseball to appear. Haiiro reached into the hole and pulled out a large waterskin, popping the cap off and chugging down large mouthfuls of water.

“Ahh, nothing beats a sandwich and a nice glass of water~.”

“As if that was only a glass worth of water.” Shiro commented. “How are you even okay after all that!? How am I okay after all that?”

“Don’t be silly Shiro-chan~.”

“Stop calling me that.”

“Shiro-chi~.”

“Don’t call me that either.”

“Shiro-tan~.”

“I hate you.”

“Feel free too~. Besides, I can drink enough water to fill a waterskin seven times this size~.”

“What? How? That’s not even scientifically possible!”

“Shiro-chan~. None of what’s happening is scientifically possible.”

“...”

Kuro interrupted, “Haiiro-san?”

“Oh, Kuro-chi~. Call me Haiiro-chan.”

“Haiiro-chan... um, how do I take control exactly?”

“Like this~.”

Haiiro suddenly released control over their body, transferring it to Kuro before she had a chance to react. A flood of sensations suddenly shot into Kuro’s mind, freezing her for a moment.

Eventually, Kuro started opening and closing the small girl’s hands, blinking a few times to get used to the new feelings.

Shiro stared at Haiiro for a moment, How in the world does that explain anything!?

Kuro lowered her hand and touched the floor, “Warm! Was the floor always this warm?”

“Warm? If anything the floor got colder Kuro-chi.”

“Are you sure? The floor wasn’t this warm, earlier.” Kuro stood up, “Eh?”

Kuro rubbed the sun dress between her fingers and Haiiro exclaimed, “What happened to my dress!”

“What happened?”

“It feels so...so... coarse.”

“But it’s so much softer than before.”

“No, I’ve worn this dress before I know that it was softer before. Something happened.”

“Nothing happened,” Shiro commented, “Well to the dress at least.”

“Hmmm?”

“It feels exactly the same to me, but softer to Kuro, and coarser to you. Do you know why?”

Both Haiiro and Kuro shook their heads. “Think about it. When you were in control everything was fine, but as soon as Kuro took control everything felt duller, no? By giving Kuro control you’ve basically entered a state similar to that of sleep paralysis.”

Kuro’s head tilted slightly, “Sleep paralysis? But you shouldn’t be able to see or feel anything when you’re in sleep paralysis, right?

“Not exactly. Patients with sleep paralysis are not only conscious, but they remain capable of feeling sensations to some extent. Since there are three of us in this body, two of us are put in this state. Basically, all three of our senses are linked to the main body, so we’re still capable of feeling everything, to a certain extent.”

The featureless black figure turned towards Shiro worriedly, “Will we be okay?”

“Who knows, there’s nothing we can really do about it so just relax and hope for the best.”

Kuro sighed and shook her head before starting to cheer herself up. It’ll be okay, it’ll be okay… Maybe practicing will help?

Breathing in a rhythm, Kuro began doing multiple Taekwondo stretches to test the limits of her new body. Slowly she became amazed by a sense of flexibility she never felt before, and a smile broke out on her face after her warm up. Then she began practicing in earnest, only to attempt a high kick and utterly fail, tripping over her own feet and landing on all fours.

The differences in height and muscle density of her body caused her to misinterpret the distance and power required, resulting in failure and minor scrapes on the knees. She would have to restart her training from scratch if she wanted to move like she could in her old body.

But as expected from a body from the cat race, Kuro felt she was much more flexible now than in her old body. A grin that could only be called savage appeared on the young girl's face as flames flickered in her eyes. Raising a small “Sha!” shout, Kuro quickly became entranced in her training once more.

Kuro trained mindlessly, kicking air as Shiro and Haiiro watched on. It wasn’t long before she fell to the floor laughing with sweat streaming off her body.

She lied there happily, but something felt off. It just wasn’t about the difference in height and weight or muscle density, though those did play a role in this. Nor did it have anything to do with her cat ears or tail, though those two did feel a little out of place. She stood up, kicking once more and felt it, the subtle feeling of skin rubbing against skin.

The sensation was minuscule, hardly noticeable at best. But it was odd and unfamiliar, and that made it stand out all the more. She began examining her crotch, touching it here and there and forgetting about the two others inside her head. When her hand touched some unfamiliar part, a small bulge, she lifted her dress and looked underneath.

“Kyaaaa!”, she fell to her knees.

Shiro sighed, “Haiiro you’re one hell of a bastard…”

“Bastard? Shiro-chan, you two were the ones assuming things~. I never said we were a girl, right~?”

“Bastard.”

Frozen in shock, Kuro's mind was in chaos. She shook her head over and over, repeatedly mumbling, “I-I… I touched it…”

Shiro sighed, “You’re overreacting.”

Haiiro smirked, “Yeah, Kuro-chi~. It’s only a…”

Kuro immediately covered her little car ears and huddled up into a little ball rolling on the floor. On the verge of breaking down into tears, Kuro yelled “Don’t say it! Don’t say it! Don’t say it! My maiden heart won’t be able to take it!”

Unfortunately, it wasn't possible to ignore the voice in her head.“P-e-n-i-s~.”

Kuro fell to her knees and wrenched her head back, “Nooooooo! No, no, no, no, no!”

Shiro cut in, “I get it, I get it. Calm down will ya?”

“I am calm!”

"If you're calm, you wouldn't be screaming or on the verge of tears. Calm down and then go explore around, I've had enough of watching you exercise."

Kuro gave a faint nod, closing her eyes for a few minutes. Out of habit, Kuro started breathing in a rhythmic manner, something she did whenever she couldn’t handle a shocking event.

“Alright!”, Kuro sprang up, surprisingly calm.

“...”

“What?”

“That was a fast recovery.”

Kuro puffed up her chest, “Back on Earth I had a good teacher that taught me all sorts of things from stances to my breathing technique, something he called war breathing. Most of what I learned was designed to help me compose myself.”

“Impressive, it looked like you received quite the shock when you noticed you, I mean... ‘We’ were a ma-”

“WOMAN!”

“...”

Haiiro snickered, “Denial is the first step to acceptance, Shiro-chan~.”

After calming down again, Kuro explored the cozy four-room house. She wandered through their parent's room, finding a bottle of alcohol under their bed,  then the kitchen, where she found some sharpened stone knives, the sparsely decorated dining room, finding nothing of interest, and the room she, Haiiro, and Shiro shared with their older brother. Sadly their brother had nothing interesting hidden under his bed, and Haiiro refused to let her look under their bed.

“It’s small…”

Kuro commented, “I like it.”

Haiiro chimed in ,“I’m sure you probably guessed it, but there’s no running water~. Though there’s an outhouse outside, just take a right and then follow the path down. You won’t miss it.”

“Guh... then Haiiro…”

“Yes?”

“Where do you take a bath?”

“Why the river, of course, don’t be silly Kuro-chan~.”

“Uhh….”

As Kuro left the house to look around outside, Haiiro began informing them about the town they lived in. The small town of Amberglen, located somewhere in the eastern region of the Beastman Alliance, consisted of hunters and gathers with farmers being rare in the area thanks to the large forest that surrounded the town. Both the forest and the mountain to the north carried a certain risk to all that entered them, as all sorts of unnatural fearsome animals and monsters made their homes within.

“Does this town have a blacksmith?”

“Unfortunately not. I’m not sure how other towns are, but here we primarily use our claws, bows, and sharpened stone daggers to hunt. We get other tools and weapons from the traders that stop by on a regular basis. They sell the townspeople all sorts of goods, like medicine and the clothes we’re wearing right now.”

“Is that so?”

“Yep.”

“It was a rhetorical question…”

“And that was a rhetorical answer~.”

Kuro laughed, “You two sure get along.”

“What makes you think that!?”

“Yep~.”

Shiro glared at Haiiro for a moment before sighing. I’m never going to win like this...

“Yuya~”, a young black haired boy called out to them while waving his hands. “Come here!”

The boy ran up to Kuro, giving her the chance to take a closer look at him. He had a similar appearance to Yuya, even though he had black hair with black furred ears on his head and a slim black tail playfully waving through the air behind him.

Kuro tilted her head, “Who’s he?”

“Our brother, Kasuka~. Isn’t he adorable~?”

Kasuka grabbed Kuro’s hand without another word and dragged her across the village, giving her no chance to run.

“Kasuka~! Yuya!”, a short red haired girl waved towards the pair of brothers. She had a bushy tail sticking out of her shorts and large fluffy ears that reminded Kuro of a fox.

“Let’s do this!”

Kuro asked, “And she is?”

“Our neighbor Kuri, a kitsune. They’re a race of demi-humans closely tied to both the Demon and Beastman races. Apparently, some of them are capable of turning into foxes, and as they grow older and stronger they grow more tails. She has a crush on Kasuka~. They're both adorable right, Shiro-chan~?”

Shiro waved his hand uncaringly.

“You’re no fun sometimes you know.”

“I’m not fun in general.”

Kuro turned around in the mind room to glance at the other two featureless figures, “You two….”

“Yes?” Kasuka turned around to glance at his little brother.

“Ah, I said that out loud...”, Kuro mumbled, turning to her brother, “It’s nothing.”

“Eh? Well okay. Hurry up though, Yuya!”, Kasuka ran towards the field, dragging Kuro with him.

“Just you watch, Kuri! We’ll win this time!”, Kasuka turned to Kuro with his eyes sparkling, “Right Yuya?”

“Uhh.”

“Come on Yuya, we need to win this time. If we don’t, then...then...I’ll tickle you!”

Haiiro laughed, “See, isn’t he adorable.”

“And...And… no more sandwiches! And, oh I know!  I’ll tell mom about what’s under your bed!”

Haiiro froze and inside their mind Kuro turned around to look at him, “What’s under your bed?”

“Oh, just something slightly illegal~. And it’s ‘our’ bed now, Kuro-chi~.”

“What!?”

“It’ll be fine Kuro-chi~. It’ll be fine... It won’t be fine. We’ll be killed…”

“I-It’ll be fine, I’ll try my best!”

Kuri grinned, putting her small hands to her lips and letting out a loud whistle. Three little girls stepped out of the shadows to stand behind Kuri at her signal.

Kuro turned to Haiiro, “This is just a friendly game right? Right!?”

Haiiro placed a hand on Kuro’s shoulder, giving her the thumbs up while seeming as if he was planning her funeral, “Good luck!”

“What was I forced into!?”
