Chapter 40: Sweet Dreams, My Dearest Keira (1)

He made his way toward Keira and sat on the chair beside the bed. He carefully opened the thermos and hot mist came out accompanying a delicious smell. This made Keira’s stomach rumble. Ezekiel heard it and let out a small chuckle.

Ezekiel grabbed a bowl and a spoon from the cabinet. He transferred the soup into the bowl and stir it to let the heat escape. He grabbed a spoonful of the soup, blew to cool it off, and pointed it to Keira’s mouth. Keira didn’t expect to get fed but also didn’t make a fuss.

She opened her mouth and Ezekiel let out a satisfied smile before feeding the soup directly to her mouth. Keira obediently swallowed the soup. This sequence repeated until the bowl was empty. Keira peeled a banana and ate it as she watched Ezekiel clean up the bowl and thermos.

Even the simple actions of feeding her greatly remind Keira of Leal, that’s why she didn’t deny Ezekiel. Keira could still not help but make a connection to Leal and the person who just fed her soup. She could not find anything now but was certain the answers would come to her eventually. That is why she was patient.

‘But if there is indeed a connection between Leal, herself, and the system then things would be different.’

There was nothing that could help prove her theory so she could only play things safe.

Ezekiel sat back down and resumed his work as if nothing happened.

Keira: “….”

Everything the male lead is doing now was confusing. She could not even let a word out.

‘If I were to follow logic here, the male lead should not have any clue as to who am I nor do we have any past interactions besides the one in the front lobby.’

Keira, “Sir, may I ask who you are and where I am?”

Ezekiel moved his head upward from the laptop screen and cast a glance toward Keira. He closed the laptop and adjust his position where both of his hands are intertwined with each other, resting on top of the closed laptop.

He showed a handsome smile, “Do you really not recall the man who you randomly slapped in the face from out of nowhere?”

Keira’s lips twitched. ‘Is he really bringing up that scene?’

“I deeply am sorry for that incident, I have mistaken you for somebody else.” Keira gave a small polite bow.

Ezekiel’s smile dropped and he asked, “What do you mean mistaken?”

The narrative has been taken without permission. Report any sightings.

Somehow, seeing Ezekiel’s mood sink provided slight pleasure to Keira.

“It is as I said, I just mistook you for somebody else.” Keira gave an apologetic smile.

The room became cold. Ezekiel stood up, menacingly looking down on Keira. In a low mocking voice, he asked, “What, did you perhaps mistook me for that person named ‘Rick’ from your department?”

Keira also dropped her smile and looked Ezekiel directly in the eyes without cowering back from his overbearing presence.

“Mr. Cu, I may have offended you but I have no obligation to share my personal affairs with you.”

Ezekiel took a deep breath as if suppressing his feelings from bursting out, “What did you do with Rick in your apartment?”

“As I said Mr. Cu, I have no—”

“Are you together with that person?!” Ezekiel roughly held Keira’s shoulders causing her to wince in pain from the strength of Ezekiel’s rough hands.

Ezekiel immediately realized what he had done and abruptly let go of his hands. For a brief second, Keira could see hurt appear in his eyes. Ezekiel softly rested his head on Keira’s shoulder.

Even through the clothes, Keira could feel the coolness of Ezekiel’s body and Ezekiel could also feel the heat of Keira’s body. Maybe it was due to her still suffering from the fever or perhaps from their natural disposition, but their body heat balanced each other well and gave out a comforting feeling.

“I’m sorry Keira…”

Keira could hear a small sigh escape from Ezekiel’s lips, letting warm air pass her shoulders causing her to shudder. Her heart pounded as each of his breaths touched her shoulders. He slowly wrapped his arms around Keira’s body, enclosing her torso and her arms together, locking her body.

“What are you doing?”

Keira tried to remove herself from Ezekiel’s grasp but he only tighten his grip on her. He buried his face in her neck, taking in her familiar scent.

“Hey—let me go!” Keira tried to move her head but this only allowed Ezekiel to bury his head further.

He softly pecked the soft skin on her neck where her pulse was located. He then said in a low voice,

“I know you are angry with me because I was with Stella… But you don’t have to worry anymore, I have already gotten rid of her.”

“What?! Did you kill her?”

Ezekiel let out a deep chuckle, “Death is too gracious to be given to her for free. I would slowly torture her, from her mind to her body until she goes crazy like I did when I lost you.”

He kissed her neck again, softly tickling Keira. He continued saying, “But if you want… I would kill her right now in front of you, the same way she killed you. So forgive me already Keira and let us stop pretending to be strangers.”

He nibbled on her earlobe and sucked on it.

“Mn—!” Keira unintentionally let out a moan. Hearing that made Ezekiel smile.

“You were always sensitive on the ears.” Ezekiel let out a chuckle.

Overcome with embarrassment, Keira tried to wiggle out of Ezekiel’s grasp but her body became weak after the continuous tease from Ezekiel.

He traced his lips back to her neck. “You also like it when I kiss you here.”

Ezekiel continued to trail kisses on her neck, making Keira's already feverish head to became hotter, making her thoughts become more disoriented. He rained down kisses like trying to appease an upset lover.

A small numbing pain came from her neck.

Ezekiel sucked on her delicate skin. The subtle pain awoke Keira from her trance. She manage to gather her strength and pushed Ezekiel away. The kiss was already enough to leave a small but visible trace on her fair white skin. The view greatly satisfied Ezekiel.
